Just tell them you want to cancel your card and that's it. You may or may not surrender your card to them. Card collector will not surrender it biggrin.gif

Need to wait. Alternatively, if you still want to use the card, you can request for a replacement card. Depends on your debit card type, you may be able to ask them to waive the card replacement fee.

CIMB e.Mastercard sux...

I added this card to PayPal and CIMB charged me RM 10.08 instead of RM 10.00 (refunded back to PayPal account upon verification)

I bought 2 things off eBay with this card recently.
1st transaction, eBay shows RM 7.60, CIMB charged RM 7.66
2nd transaction, eBay shows RM 11.12, CIMB charged RM 11.21
What a good way to earn extra few cents...

I have no such issues with PB Visa Electron and other CC of mine... Always reflect the correct amount charged on eBay or other foreign transactions...

Although it is only a few cents, but it is just something that is not right...
Customer see the actual amount transacted, but charged on a different amount (upwards).

I never use debit card in Malaysia before so not much experience. WTA two things.

When hypermarket or other shopping centre have sign saying minimum purchase for credit card is RM30, RM50 or whatever; (Maybank) Visa debit card is usually same minimum purchase right? I think would be since both cases store kena transaction charges (although I heard debit card is less) but don't really know.

Second question, how long before the Treatpoints should show up in account? I make purchase yesterday (RM50+ x 2) at different hypermarkets, it shows up in my debit history and transaction history but nothing in Treatpoints.

Transaction charges for credit card and debit card are exactly the same. VISA Electron however, usually is less. Anyway, the minimum purchase indicated is the same for all credit card and debit card.

You should refer to the instruction letter you received along with the card. If there is instruction to ask you to activate, then you will need to call in to activate.

Yes. You can make the withdrawal for free via any Alliance Bank ATM.

Yes. That is most likely to be the reason.

I think it's because of the different exchange rates. eBay's rates are usually lower, and the bank's higher.

Just as an example, when eBay's rates are circa $1 = RM3.08, Maybank's rates are $1 = RM3.12.

Sucks, I know.

Credit card and debit card are slightly different . If u have Rm 4,000 in your bank account and you use a debit card to buy things online , the item you purchase cannot exceed Rm 4,000 . Debit card instantly deduct the money in your account , once your Rm 4000 is used up you wont be able to use the card until you top up . Meanwhile , a credit card can exceed a certain limit set by the bank i guess but you have to pay it at the end of the month . Using a credit card is not very safe if you cant manage your money nicely . You will get charge an extremely huge amount at the end of the month if you keep buying things and you will end up having huge debts . Correct me if I'm wrong .
