Just a note to all Public Bank Day2Day VISA debit card users. You can now set your preferred daily purchase limit at any Public Bank ATM nationwide. The lowest amount is RM0 and the highest is RM5000. Previously it was all set at RM2000 per day maximum and you can't change it.

Not using your card for more than a year ? What card is that ? The blue one ? The one i was talking earlier is Public Bank Day2Day VISA debit card. It was just launch in May this year.

This is applied only to cards linked to a saving account? What about PBVE?
My younger bro is still in school, and he's been asking my parents to get him one. Can we set a limit to his card?

I mean, what if he spend more than he should for a month?
Besides, he's still in school tongue.gif

This only applies to PBB D2D VISA.

PBB D2D VISA should suits him fine. Just help him to open a savings account at Public Bank and request for the Day2Day VISA debit card.

Your parents can always set the daily withdrawal limit as well as the VISA purchasing limit. But then, since this is his card and he knows the PIN number, he can always change the limit at any Public Bank ATM nationwide.

That's easy ! Don't give him too much money and make sure he doesn't have a lot of money in his savings account laugh.gif Do not have to worry he will overspend as this is just a debit card not a credit card. He will only be able to use his own money inside the bank.

i would like to ask about the online purchasing..

1) what if they charge different amount that we purchase.
2) for the hotel right, i would like to make the room on the status of confirm through online and paid the balance by cash on that day. cause the hotel will hold some amount for the credit card.
and i not sure hows it works for debit card? would they deduct certain amount of the account and then paid it back to the account... coz the whole transaction i would be paid by cash instead of debit card.. the reason using debit it just for confirm of the room.

it hold certain amount for debit card, and the 'holding ' period is longer than we use debit card at petrol station(3-5days). normally is 2 weeks if i am not wrong.

Debit Cards works like Credit Cards.

The only difference is that you need money in Debit Card before you can use it.

I used my PB Visa Electron to booked and paid for hotel stay before .

I like PB Visa Electron cos of the 0.5% rebate on all purchase and it has interest when you keep money inside the card icon_rolleyes.gif

Okay ! For example when you give your debit card to the hotel and they are asking for a deposit for RM5,000, then you need to make sure you have RM5,000 inside the card or else it won't go through.

As for credit card, you just need to make sure you still have sufficient credit line. Another thing is that we won't really notice when they hold our money for deposit if we are using credit card because it won't even be reflected in our account. Only the final amount will be shown in our credit card statement whereas with a debit card, you will see from your online banking account or ATM balance that RM5,000 has been temporary deducted off your account.

Hey Miles where do you get these infos? Such as the change of spending limit for the pbb day2day card. So technically I can spend 10k a day right? If both my withdrawal and spending limit are set to 5k. And if the spending limit has increased , what's the default amount set in the card?

Added on November 6, 2009, 2:05 amMiles I have encounter errors during entering my debit card into the ATM and cash deposit machine. Sometimes it's said card not verified then it returns my card. But sometimes it works fine. What could have cause this? It's a real burden to insert the acc number manually.

About we can change the VISA purchasing limit ? Found out from their ATM. This feature was not previously available. Last time we were only allowed to change the daily withdrawal limit.

No. It is RM5,000 only even if both are set to RM5,000. Let say you have withdrawn RM2,000 of cash today from the ATM, you are allowed to swipe/charge another RM3,000 to your D2D VISA.

The same thing also applies to Maybank Cherry VISA debit card and Citibank Citibanking VISA debit card/Citibank Citigold VISA debit card.

That's because certain Public Bank cash deposit terminals (CDT) can't read your ATM card. This is most likely because their staff did not enable the chip card reader function. The particular Public Bank branch i frequent has 3x cash deposit terminals (CDT) and only 1x of the 3x can read my ATM card.

I have also encountered the same problem with Maybank where only some of their cash deposit terminals (CDT) can read our ATM cards and the rest can't. For those Maybank cash deposit terminals (CDT) that can read our ATM cards, we have to key in our PIN number before we can proceed which i think is ABSURD ! I mean come on ! I just want to deposit some money into the account and not withdrawing. Why the heck do you need my PIN number for ? How troublesome. RHB Bank cash deposit terminals (CDT) also requires us to enter our ATM card PIN number before we can proceed (only if you insert your ATM card into the ATM card slot) doh.gif

For your information, for those Public Bank cash deposit terminals (CDT) with the ATM chip card reader enabled, you won't have to key in your PIN number before you are allowed to proceed. Same goes to all CIMB Bank, HSBC and Standard Chartered cash deposit terminals(CDT).

Maybe this is the best way.. PB saving account can be used for his monthly spending, but still, another saving account must be left untouched by this kiddo. sweat.gif

I see, then, there's no use for us to set the limit for him right? shakehead.gif Oh well.. If he ever finds out, ahaha..

Hm, after CKJeans canceled my order, when I check my PBVE balance it is stated there is an authorized charge..
CKJeans will hold it for 10 days from the date of transaction.
The amount will be refund into the card after 10 days.

I see. I thought previously we were allowed to withdraw rm5000 and swipe rm2000 daily. Which sum up to rm7000 daily. That's what the bank officer told me. Hmm so what are the current rebate % for pbb day2day? And what's the % after the promotion in December

PB visa electron - not linked to saving/curent account. RM24 per annum, but first year is waived. and make sure minimum rm25 in the card account all the time.
Public Bank Day2Day VISA debit - linked to account. so u need to a account. RM 12 per annum .
