There are a few issues I would like to seek clarification from the moderating team.It would be better if the moderators from Football Lounge joining in, in this case, I'm referring to TheWhacker, aw13 and alien2003.

1.Name Calling.
If I'm not mistaken,Name calling is not allowed in Football Lounge. As far as I m concerned, name calling is part of banter in Football Discussion.I cant see any reason why it's not allowed if it's not too harsh and it is done in our own thread. The rivalry between the football club is so common these days so a little name calling is normal.I cant see why this is not allowed.Given that few posts of our member get removed ,I assume it's due to name calling as suggested by samurai1337's post.

QUOTE(samurai1337 @ Oct 22 2009, 10:02 AM)
I have deleted a post from ezikie1

No name calling please, peace smile.gif

So, I'm wondering name calling is actually allowed in Football Lounge because when I'm visiting the other thread, it seems to be telling me otherwise.

2.Deleting posts
Few hours ago, I had a post removed by moderator.I don't know why and I don't know who did it which left me wondering who I should be contacting to ask "Why" my post was removed.Apparently, my post, consist of a little name calling ie. Red Nose.I assume that's the reason it was removed. To me, it was so petty that I dont know it actually breaches the R&R when the post was actually posted in our own thread and the name calling was so minor. It's not like all the name calling posts were posted in their thread, trolling in their thread.Heck no.So why is it removed?

Anyway,my concern is,wouldn't it better if the moderator that removes the post, leave a message in the thread or a pm to tell us about why the post is removed. At least we know why and we wont repeat it again. Now, I dont even know who to pm and who to ask. Now, I have to pm all 3 moderators to ask about it. doh.gif And sometimes, it could even be staff not from football lounge. So who to ask from?

3.Double standard moderation?
Apparently, this is related to the name calling part.If name calling is not allowed, why is it allowed in the manchester united thread?Double standard? I can easily pick up whole page of name calling from their last few threads.

And I'm not the only one thinking so.

QUOTE(triple02 @ Oct 24 2009, 04:30 PM)
its seems like there a rule for them and a separate rule for us rolleyes.gif they can call Rafa Fat Spanish Waiter and all those other names but their nerves are twitched when we label their manager something? gosh all these policing what has these football lounge come to..and they have the galls to complain we whine..

oi you muppets have you have no shame? typical case pot calling kettle blackĀ  laugh.gif

If someone says it's because we didn't report it that it stays there, then it's hilarious. aw13, one of the moderator in football lounge, being a chelsea fans, removed/edited the name calling post in Chelsea thread without us needing to report it at all. While alien2003, being the moderator and TS of the manchester united thread, should do better than this.As far as I concerned, alien2003 updated the thread frequently and posted news daily, there is no way he will miss any of those name calling post, aye?I noticed he did remove some of the posts but definitely not all.I'm not saying that he is not doing his job.He is doing his job and has a hard time advising his own thread posters. What I'm trying to say is, the moderation by the moderators should be standardize. If name calling is not allowed in Liverpool , Arsenal or Chelsea threads, it shouldn't be allowed in manu thread as well, regardless of how petty the name calling is.Simple.Be fair to everyone.

4.The number of trolls in Footbal Lounge
Lately, especially these few months, the number of trolls in Football Lounge is terrifying.I believe the moderators are having a hard time dealing with it.Even us, the posters are frustrated that some pricks just came in troll almost on daily basis.

Fyi, tomorrow night, there will be a match between Liverpool and Manchester United. My past experience told me that there will be tonnes of trolling posts in Football Lounge after the match. It was the same last year. So, I'm suggesting that stricter rules to be applied in Football Lounge.

If I'm not mistaken, there was a time, when the flame war between these 2 clubs happened, their threads were locked up and it seems to be a pretty efficient solution cos both sides seems to be starting to behave after that. Thus,I'm suggesting doing just so to whoever troll. You pay the consequences for what you did.Period.

niwde, please don't post nonsense here. Same goes to the rest of you. What was posted is far from being something that's going to hurt to site reputation. We'll wait for the moderators of the section to give reply.

I agree a little name calling wouldn't hurt; but a lot of times it leads out of hand.
I seldom frequent FL as I used to be, however I can say FL had been doing alright these days except for a few trolls that trolls here and there. Bt most of the times I see much concrete banters going on and I do say it's a good sight.

Although we frequent topics that pleases us every now and than but that doesn't necessary meant that we would have the privilege of going through all the posts that is there. So it meant that we're only human if we missed out some posts.

Also I doubted that your posts was nuked because of that "red nose" comment. To me, it was to prevent further confrontation/flaming coming on. Like I mentioned countless times - just ignore trolls. That's the simplest, why agitate oneself and snooping as low.

And I've further remove some more not to keep the issue lingering. Known are liverpool fans a sensible lot, so keep it that way.

To put things simple, the moderation is not standardize or rather, it's simply not consistent enough.Take the name calling part as example, it's actually a petty issue, but some mods actually take it way too seriously while some mods understand that's part of banter and fun of discussion and let it go.When it comes to that, others will be thinking it's bias/unfair.Call it coincidence, Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea name calling posts are removed and somehow some of the manu posts of taunting and name calling are there for viewing. It's not consistent or standardize.Like I said, be fair to everyone. If you do miss out few , fine, we can take it.It's human error or whatever you call it. But if you take a deep look in previous few threads that are now closed, you can easily see almost every posts are with name calling. Rafacts?Fat Spanish Waiter? Is that even human errors? It's more like being linear to one group and stricter to another group.

I'm not too sure about Football Lounge doing alright these days.Just last month alone, I dont know how much posts I had reported because of troll and that's only come from a single thread.People are taking things for granted. You ban me, you mute me?Fine, I create a new dupe and troll again. We have seen a few newbie eg, 509307, coming out of nowhere to troll.Still, I m suggesting the lock thread punishments. It works wonder actually. You pay the consequences for what you did.Isn't that better?Banning and issue warning doesn't seem to be working any longer because you dont really need a permanent account to troll.A dupe can cause enough mess.

Let me give you a little history on the Football Forum.

When Football Forum was first created, one can see a few name calling in some posts which were very good post in terms of football knowledge. That was because back then, the members who posted in the Football Forum were adults and grown ups. After a perioid of time, minors and kids start coming creating their accounts at LYN and they started posting at the Football Forum. But when these minors found out that their beloved club is being named "differently", they started coming out ideas on how to "rename" the other club's name ans thus the whole thing just got out of hand. I once saw 7 pages worth of name calling posts at the Football forum. I (as well as others) wanted to come in to read what other fans' input and reaction on Club A's defeat against Club B, and all we get was 7 pages worth of pointless posts. That was back then.

So to answer your question "Is Name Calling allowed in Football Forum"
No, its not allowed for the sake of everyone.

Yes, other forums allows name calling but with a wide range a member's age in LYN, the name calling will go out of hand.

On behalf of the Moderator Team, I'm sorry about this. I think you want the reasons behind our actions right? Actually, its easier and faster for us moderators to invisible the post (we don't actually delete them) then having to edit the post in question itself.

Yea, you may call us lazy but hey we're humans too with a life to live smile.gif But i'll discuss this with my team on how we can (hopefully) to improve this area.

I know where you're coming from. But let's not throw everything but the kitchen sink to alien2003.

What goes behind the scene is alien2003 PMs each of them who name calls and ask them to stop doing so. He even adds them to his MSN and talks about it, and believe me, i have personally seen some of the chat logs (the username is masked so i don't who they are) and believe me, its very fiery chat session.

So are we having Double standard moderation? I can't answer that. But what i can tell you is that, every report flagged for warnings/ban from anyone (not just the 2 of them) has my final viewing before i make the call. Sometimes, i discard reports requesting for warnings/ban due to small issues (like the entire post has the poster's own taughts, input and etc .. basicly a post with football knowledge in it, but misspelled Club A's name) will end up in a debate with the 3 of us and there will be only one answer Yes or No.

So alien2003 having double standard moderation? Noted. I'll have a mamak session with him soon.

We agree with you mate. But i don't know if you agree with me, trolls love to post name calling posts in the forum, change Club A's theme song (i'm sure you know who i'm refering to), come in the post "HAHA Club A SUCK LA **** !$#!##$ LEI ^$%$#$% SUCK ^@$#$" kind posts.

But we need your help to fight these trolls by reporting them to us. You don't like the report button, PM me. I have told everyone that Moderator's Inbox is super huge to store those PMs in and I do read and reply those who message me in LYN.

For us, its simple. You break the rules you pay for it. We don't care who started it first or second or third. And I don't know about the rest of the Staffs in LYN, but i'm strict when issusing warnings/bans. I don't give a 3 days or 5 days ban. That member who change Club A's theme song, i gave 60 days off.

I hope I did answered your questions. If there's some i didn't answered or you would like more explanations, feel free to reply.

If you do not understand than why get involve? Is it of concern to you? That is why your previous post goes missing as t adds no value to this situation and issue.

Anyway back to this issue.
solstice, when it's serious enough topics would be in a lock down. I remember it was done before if not wrong, 2 years back which eventually led to the birth of our own webbie.

Also, I seldom visit other fan's thread unless there's reports to be clear. Most of the time when I visit FL, it's only reading the updates in our topics and I'm proud to say our thread is clean. So my only advice is ignore. You know me, I always advocate that. We don't really need to react when provoked, nor do we need to go provoke others.

Just let the matter rest wink.gif

I understand about you guys having your own life to live on too.But at times, it leaves a question mark over why a certain post being removed or who was the one removing it especially when some other red tag staff can remove it, not necessarily the one from our own FL.It's not necessary but it will be BETTER if someone can leave a message and tell us what happen so that the same mistake wont happen again.

Like I said in my very 1st post, alien2003 did his job.In fact, at times, I think he had a hard time dealing with his own thread members.I saw him advising his own mates, I saw him warned them.He did and I have no question about that but the thing is the moderation by the moderators should be standardize.Just an example. If alien2003 removes name calling post, TheWhacker and aw13 should be doing just same.If the Liverpool thread's name calling post are removed, the posts in manu thread, regardless of how petty the name calling is, should be removed too.

I have no idea when this name calling rules start to be implemented seriously because the old time, we are allowed to call other managers something like Red Nose, Fat Spanish Waiter , The Whiner, etc.It starts to get stricter all of a sudden when all those petty name calling posts are removed and of course someone gonna be unhappy when all these times they(another group) had been doing the same thing and the posts were not removed. The old leniency should no longer be there.Perhaps, it's not double standard, perhaps it is.

We do not intend to point the fingers at alien2003 but at this very moment It's easier for others to misunderstand about it especially when this name calling start to be implemented seriously these 1-2days and just days ago the mans were just laughing, joking by name calling the team, the manager. No hard feeling but if it offense alien2003, my deepest apologies.
