1) epic fantasy
2) historical adventure

If and only if I could/would write a novel. Both of the above genre interest me most. I seldom come upon a fantasy novel which depicts all of it's majestic cities and civilisation. Frequently the story revolved around long lost empire. I kinda hunger for those and don't prefer it to be a long lost one. Current happening is preferred.

For historical fictions, I like adventures with historical facts. Treasure hunters would be awesome with closeness to the tomb raider, Indiana jones, relic hunter series.

But, these are just if and dreams. It's hard to write one with it's originality intact. Inspired nowadays are an excuse for idea theft. Anyone knows how to differentiate them?

I'm quite lost in your description of epic fantasy when you want it current. Whole idea of fantasy *to my understanding* is magic/sorcery which most settings ala middle earthish biggrin.gif, "current" would be fiction? As we live in a modern society per se. Unless you meant magic/sorcery cum modern times aka Harry Potter style. Or, an alternative time continuum which leads us to sci-fi?

Food for thoughts tho icon_rolleyes.gif

Aha sorry for the confusing descriptions. By current, I mean it to be the theme set on the peak of the civilisation itself and not some long lost ancient cities.

Example: the hero is living in Atlantis itself and not the ruins of it.

And no, no modern fantasy themes, I get too realistic on the head when it comes to fantasy in the modern world. Heh.

I'm trying to write my own fantasy sword-and-sorcery stories but there's a lot of reading that I need to do. Hopefully I'll manage to do it. ^^

Greetings everyone, I'm new here.

I wonder if this thread is still alive? For me, currently, I'm writing a draft, for novel based on one's experience that portrays the concept and deprivation of humanity. Is there anyone else has started the 'journey' of writing a book? wink.gif

Welcome. The section is pretty dead, so you won't get instant replies most of the time.

I'm almost done with mine, it's a cyberspace thriller. Now looking for an editor.
