a) a bot that spouts out information based on a query, kind of like a Wikipedia you can ask:
QUOTE("Example")
<littlefox> !define love
<chatterbot> love (n). = emotion etc etc
<littlefox> !explain emotion
<chatterbot> Emotion is a biochemical response to stimuli. etc etc.
or<chatterbot> love (n). = emotion etc etc
<littlefox> !explain emotion
<chatterbot> Emotion is a biochemical response to stimuli. etc etc.
b) a bot that responds to conversation. For example:
QUOTE("Example")
<littlefox> Hello
<chatterbox> Hi littlefox! I'm Eliza. What do you want to talk about?
<littlefox> I've been having problems getting it up lately.
<chatterbox> Getting what up?
<littlefox> well, you know... that.
<chatterbox> And how does you know... that make you feel?
<littlefox> like less of a man
<chatterbox> Why do you think it makes you feel like less of a man?
<littlefox> barf nargle zous
<chatterbox> Is barf nargle zous important to you?
etc.
(a) is a very simple bot that no AI student can really call AI. It's not even an expert system. (b), on the other hand, is an example of an attempt to produce something that seems intelligent.<chatterbox> Hi littlefox!
<chatterbox> Is barf nargle zous important to you?
etc.
Which one are you talking about?
@Cheesenium: Yes, it looks like a do my homework topic, but it's an interesting one if he's talking about Turing-compliancy and the like.
