Please do not post any dumb Clubbing venues here, seriously. In clubs you pay expensive (and diluted) drinks with loud deafening music. That is not call socializing.
Ok. Let me start of by a one good and bad example of bars/pubs i visited recently.
Not so good Bar
Library (in the Curve) - Pricey drinks (~RM25 per class of cocktail) and poor/mediocre quality drinks, bartender doesn't even know what is a "Manhattan". The draft beer there seemed very watered down. DJ plays Mambo No.5 and HEY MICKEY UR SO FINE frequently. I would not visit there ever again. (But the bar is always packed, as always ignorant local consumers as usual)
Good Bar
Reggae Bar (NOT THE CHANGKAT ONE, I'm refering to Petaling St, KL) - Initial reaction would be "eww, dodgy area", but I tell you it is worth the experience. Extremely cheap drinks - RM10~RM15 per glass of cocktail. VERY good quality and taste, probably just as good as a 5 star hotel standard (I tried their Long Island Tea). Ambiance seemed alright as I choose to drink in their "dining" area instead of the noisy pub/dance area. The crowd consist of alot of backpackers/expats around that place. On a final note, just beware of where you park your car, lots of police roaming around for a quick buck despite it being in the midnight. And don't trust the idiot that says he will look after ur car when you pay him a few bucks.
I just want to share my experience, as I tried to googling of places to drink only to find that Malaysia have a seriously terrible directory of good places to drink information. The forums isn't helping either, most places recommended are rubbish. It is no wonder tourist are having a hard time appreciating our country, YOU JUST CAN'T FIND STUFF!
Haha,
