Ah, it's been a year already i guess, warranty seems over already.... so that's what you think huh i should just leave it as it is...

Will high temperatures cause my GC to subsequently slow down?

u shud check ur system airflow. maybe hot air stucked inside ur casing.
i add 2 fans reccently and clean my whole system, my GPU(9600gt) tempreture idle dropped from 55C to 45C.

it could show up as artifacts or some sudden framerates drop during gaming

if everything seems normal

then there is no problem

What are artifacts? i did notice there was some sudden lag for like 1-2 seconds sometimes but it rarely happens, is that a problem too?

It depends on the casing everyone has, the number of fans, how good the airflow is, dust etc.

ya...

XFX do have a smaller fan compare to other 9800gt, so it is hotter than normal.
but than the 8800gt single slot cooler also hot as urs.

artifact shows up as out of ordinary lines when playing games or it will just crash.

the lag mostly is just the game loading so no worries.
if u still not comfortable just change the.

guess urs still works as normal.

if u fell like the temp is too high changing the cooler is teh best way to bring down the temp.
but there is a saying that dont fix anything that are not broken nod.gif

Same card as fabianz03 and same temps too biggrin.gif.

Gigabyte is using Zalman coolers so that could be a factor.

Maybe install more case fans. What case are you using?

Changing thermal paste also voids the warranty.

Btw, 8800 GT and 9800 GT are 99% the same card.

Need see your casing picture...maybe your cable management is too teruk...too many cacing around your GC fans area blocking the air flow.....BTW how much fans speed you setting?

Graphic Card are build lto withstand 110C......during old times my 8800GTS G80 320mb during ilde also 65C when load in games are 88-94C i also no worry on it.......now my 8800GTS G80 still rocks....no problem......now my 9800GX2 on load also 90C.

XFX 9800GT can see from newegg web ..now xfx new type 9800GT design are very very small fans plus lansung no heatsink inside...high temp no hiaran

My wiring was like that before, till one day I pulled open the casing and pulled all the wires behind the motherboard tray and then start connecting it back through holes.
