I have been running a soccer website for 1 year ++ Soccergoalx.com.
The site are more about English Premier League and provide the goal video and highlight for the top 4 teams ( Recently, I start to post other teams too). I am looking to expand my site, so i need comment from football fans.

I have couple idea to expand the site too:
- add another blog about soccer training
- world cup 2010

Sometime, I have some idea, but just lack of time because I have to do everything myself. If anyone of you are interested to join the team. May be we may talk and see whether we can work together.

Great work you got there, bro!

It must be not easy to keep up with the tasks to find and update the site with latest clips.

My first impression on your site is that it is very blog-like site. Is this what you intend to do, a blog?

Another thing I am worried about for you is the copyright issue. I have no clear idea how this works but make sure you have all the legal rights to put all these on your site. You don't really want to receive lawsuit, right?

Overall, your site looks tidy enough for my liking.

My advice for you is that to do one thing at a time. Since you have limited source, try not to wander on other stuffs like streaming (you will get extremely busy during matchday to update the links - unless there an automated way to fetch these from elsewhere). Keeping the goal clips should be your priority for the time being. smile.gif

I will promote your site/thread in Arsenal Street Talk icon_rolleyes.gif

Well done bro, but I suggest you get help though. It's not easy task to maintain such a site, especially when it gets bigger biggrin.gif.

Perhaps you can try focusing one thing at a time. I know you're burning with lotsa ideas like streaming, training tips, pundit column, but...since its a one-man show..take it slow bro smile.gif.

As m,uch as i would like to encourage promotion of interest etc, technically speaking use of the clips in your site (assuming without permission) is infringement of the broadcaster's copyright, unless it is for self use (which u have yourself clearly rebutted since you want "more ppl to know". Just a word of caution there bro, if ever the broadcasters find out about it they will go after you. Even youtube clips are being deleted on a daily basis. Yes i know alot of people out there does it too, bt that is not justification. Anyway like is aid, just be cautious there.

Apart from videos, use of the club logos, badges etc arguably tentamounts to trade mark infringement if its without consent / license.

Thanks for all the comment. All the photo and video are not hosted in my server. I did put a page for term of use which is used by most soccer video website: http://www.soccergoalx.com/term-of-use/

Bro, this does not exempt you from any potential lawsuit. According to copyright law smart lawyers, just because the clips are not hosted on your server does not mean you are innocent. It is similar to you holding a list of all potential rape victims and then a rapist comes to you to get the addresses. In other words, you could still be held accountable for aiding copyright infringement.

My advice, if you want your site to be popular, be prepared to move hosting servers a lot. Most ISP's do not like to go through a legal hassle, so even if they agree with your practices, or the law is not very clear on the issue, they would rather gladly terminate your hosting to avoid any long-drawn issues.

You may also want to do some research on where to host your site (i.e countries that are not so friendly to copyright holders wink.gif.

What I can guarantee you for sure is that if your site is hosted in Malaysia, you can expect a letter/email from Astro as soon as your site becomes popular.

Very important - make sure you have backup on a daily basis.
