I wonder how credible the source is but based on its description, sony might choose the powervr graphic which will run with a multicore architecture. If this is true then backward compatibility might be scrapped, which means no psp game on psp 2 since psp use mips based processor and the upcoming one will be based on arm processor! Graphic wise it might rival the next nds 2 since the ds 2 might also improve its graphical capability tremendously by integrating the next system with a nvidia tegra. I have no idea how the tegra perform but it's being used in the zune hd, which is capable of hd movie playback. If I aint remember it wrongly sega dreamcast also use powervr, in which I think is good since most games seems like a smooth 60 fps with "crisp" graphic to me. What say u?

Assuming the news is true,i'd say its a rather stupid move by sony. Firstly,they just released the pspGO which has no umd slot and forces ppl to pay and download from PSN to get the games. The prob here:

1)No umd slot thus buyers have to invest in memory cards

2)users who already have the games and want to play them on the GO needs to repurchase the game.


Now their planning on releasing the PSP2. Sure it may have better graphics,processing power and all that but what good is a handheld if it does not have good range of games to go along with it. Honestly speaking, how many must have games do we have for the psp now? I can count a handful that are worth your time and money.

Thats about it.Im not talking about "ok" games, im talking about "must have". Because it is these games that help sell a console/handheld. The PSP is very popular in Japan due to the immense amount of anime based games released there so maybe the psp2 will do well there. But for me, im sure as hell not interested in this UNTIL developers can show some promising titles.

Lets just hope for the best.

i dont know. I just purchased recently the psp AC limited bundle and get free AC2 for PS3. dl the latest patch and play dot hack link demo, god eater, and some other japan psp games with ad hoc multiplayer with japanese player.......and use my psp remote play with my ps3.....

psp dont have much game? that is soo 2005.....sony release PSPgo is stupid? at least they are not stupid to counter the pirated gamers.....

once u already have ps3....normally, u dont have time for psp....unless when u balik kampung and u cant bring ur ps3 together, at that time psp is a must-have-item-to-bring-along....otherwise, u will get bored at kampung....

psp 3000 good or psp 2000?

I'm not sure how reliable the source is.. one of my relative who working in a factory which manufacture some of the part for ps3 and psp told me that sony is going to release a touch screen psp.. because the factory working on some of the part for the new version of psp....

1 thing that i really need for PSP2 is dual analog!!!!!!

anyway there is also rumour saying that psp2 working better with MH3p which will release at end of the year..

wow i want touch screen psp too

if they do the control button like in iphone/ipod it's quite hard to control.. need some time for learning curve..

it would be instant fail,IMHO.
touch screen based controls are pure bullshit.

and by "touch screen based" i mean virtual joysticks and virtual buttons.
gestures work just fine, but using virtual joysticks and buttons is just stupid and cheap

from my experience , for console DUN BUY the 1st release batch (sure got problem)
for handheld BUY FIRST coz can play jack sparrow .

if psp2 backward compatible with ps2 games even better

= iPod Touch with better games and graphics.

touch screen gaming are for weeboos ~ your fingers already cover part of the screens, furthermore fingerprint mark on screen is unbearable lol

add touch screen feature to the console but dont fully utilize it on games..

touch screen feature are for online.. drawing.. etc etc... and light gaming..

I still prefer physical game pad for games...
heavy duty games are most likely remain with the trusty pad..

add vibration to the console will be just great!

Erm... the gen 2 console... Wasnt it the same size and shape as the predecessor.. will they really add extra features in? Why are you guys talking like they are going to change the whole psp feature like that one? I thought only enhancement in terms of graphics? I dun really understand about how much of the advancement of graphics this techno may help... But if this can make the psp support games that have the similar look atleast like on the recent PS2 games i may think of getting a new one... If its not.. Then no matter how crisp the graphic can be.. They are still the same..

YES!!! PSP is a must for traveling especially when you cant bring ur precious consoles back kampung... And there are a handfull of games that gona keep me busy for the holiday.. This coming summer got a few realeasing too.. Gosh!! But I am so gona miss my kotak!! XD

On a side note.... I will be happy if sony got achievement thing for psp too.. Its unfair cuz only ps3 got.. Psp oso sony one wat.. Small so wat?

Why not bring the best out of both worlds? Make a touch button and a real button. Well, after sometime of playing games on PSP, my hand will get sore due to a lot of button pressing. So, just imagine the current PSP button layout have the touch feature. If you just touch the button without pressing, it'll respond. If you press the button, it'll respond too. Now that is cool.

Well seriously I dont think that this PSP2 news is real. Even if it is, how is Sony gonna manage to put a battery pack with the capacity to power with such a powerful processor and gpu in such a small pack?

From what I've read in the news, the new psp's gpu is equal to a GTX260. I mean WTF? PS3's GPU is build based on Nvidia7800 and PSP2 will have a GTX260alike gpu.. cmoooon..

Sony clearly states that PSPgo was released to test the market and they've got their results, failure..
So from my point of view, Sony isn't going to launch the PSP2 or whatever its called any sooner because they lack the knowledge on what the consumers out there wants nowadays and besides, PSP1000-3000 is still one of the most popular hand-held gaming console in the market..

Accelerometer and multiple-touch touchscreen(like iPhone ones) would be nice too if implemented.

Still the same question, how would such a small battery pack stand up to all these functions esp for gamers who play with their PSP the whole day long..

Don't tell me that Sony is gonna charge us 30~40% of the console's price for a battery pack..
