hi my D70 sensor is dirty. Changing lens results in same dirty spots on photos. Opening the shutter confirms the dirt/dust.

I'm told to send the Nikon to service centre in PJ. Does anyone have experience cleaning sensors there? How much would it cost?

Or is there other place/technician in Klang Valley where I can send to clean it ? It should be a few-minute job.

thanks notworthy.gif notworthy.gif notworthy.gif

i found some "cleaning kit" on the net that is compatible with D70 (US$30). Wonder if I could find such tools in KL ?

I'm told on the net that I can't simply use any brush or cotton swab, but a special brush and special cleaning solution.

every camera shop at bukit bintang told me to send to Nikon service centre in PJ.

RM60-70 is not too bad if I have to do it once a year, right?

if it's like a huge dust speck, i usually use a blower and blow it off...
every once in a year, i will send it to nikon malaysia for a sensor cleaning.
rm 60 for the cost. free if the camera is still under warranty.

better than doing it yourself. if scratch the sensor means might as well just throw the camera away

i seen how the people at Nikon cleaning the sensor, they just blow it and use a solution with cotton to wipe the remaining dust which hard to get off with blower.no need to brush like u waxing yer car liao haha

Revive this threat, so everybody been playing DSLR for so long.

How ppl clean your sensor nowadays?

My D7000 is old enough but always got stubborn dust at the sensor.
View finder seems to have as well... :/

Any pro shop able to handle it?

P.S.: Lastly I send to Nikon Service Center, they cant get the job done. :/

Buy air duster (static free, preferably) and to clean the sensor would suffice. Can use brush also can. Not those cheap one of course, find the soft and smooth ones.

Pretty sure that is what I did, just blow the dust off with a soft brush without applying too much strength. Just brush off lightly. You can follow the link you sent by buying that rubber thingy, lots of people have that and personally it is very handy and portable.

Buy a good blower like Giottos Rocket. Lasted me 9 years now. Just open the lens n blow blow can liao. Unless u somehow got some sticky mess in there. LoL

Don't use cheap blower ya. U need a good blower with 1 way valve or ur just recycling dust.
