QUOTE(memphis @ Sep 21 2010, 05:25 PM) owh yeah? y? i dont think i will upgrade my car in less than 5 years...property is better investment for me...i also intended to settle the loan after 6 years....so for starting i did not need to 'ikat perut', than after my salary gradually increase, i can save it to settle the loan than.....is it a good strategy for financial management? hence this is my 1st car loan and i know little about auto and financial world...huhu Not good. Always minimise the car loan. Its not a housing loan. For car loans your interest in already calculated in full and divided over the corresponding period. So even if u go for full settlement after 6 years you wont be saving much. I would think that the maximum u should go for a car loan would be 5-7 yrs with 5 yrs being ideal. Yes properties are best but reduce your losses in car purchases. |

QUOTE(moyong @ Oct 6 2010, 02:51 PM) Hi all, U cannot compare fuel consumption for both these cars since they are different categories. The Civic is a heavier car as well. When u buy a car u should take the following factors into consideration:just wondering.... my family's planning to get a car. So far they consider Toyota Vios and Honda Civic. Which would be better in terms of fuel consumption and handling. both cars are in diff price range so need some advice Looking for Value, Comfort, Looks 1) Price 2) Specs 3) Build quality 4) Availability of spare parts 5) Cost of maintenance 6) After sales service standard 7) Fuel consumption 8) Resale value Dont forget that Honda requires u to service every 5000km regardless of the type of engine oil u use. In my ipinion, that is a direct blackmail. I use a Toyota Vios and am very happy with the car and the company. This post has been edited by cybermaster98: Oct 6 2010, 03:32 PM |

QUOTE(moyong @ Oct 6 2010, 04:26 PM) I got attracted to the Vios Sport (around 90k).... then I saw Civic which is, i believe, out of the league because vios is different range. So far I heard toyota after sales service is reliable and also toyota quality is good. Any comments on the vios sport? might as well get a toyota vios with that price.... What is your max budget? |

QUOTE(dengwong @ Aug 29 2011, 10:35 PM) 1. Brand : VW polo Gti 1.4 or golf Tsi 1.4 or any japanese brand car RM5K++ monthly salary and ure targetting a RM130-150K car?? Dont u think thats a bit over your budget? Ive been earning a 5 figure salary since 2006 and im still driving my 2003 Vios. 2. Budget :130- 150k 3. New/Used/Unreg : new 4. Specs : the wan with most value for money 5. Transmission : Auto 6. NA or FI : NA 7. Type : either mthly income about rm5k++, pls help me to choose...thx thx Just my personal opinion but i think u need to re-evaluate your priorities. Cars are a losing commodity so unless ure really financially secure e.g properties, kids education, family medical insurances, etc all sorted out then u shouldnt be looking at something of that price range with just a RM5K++ salary. |

QUOTE(NPNL @ Sep 1 2011, 08:11 PM) 1. Brand : New Persona / vios /city / Forte For that income, if u can get a really good 2nd had car from a trustworthy source, then you should go for it. If u want u can buy my 2003 Toyota Vios (which is in excellent condition). Im looking to upgrade to either the Camry, Sonata or Passat by early next year. I would confidently say this: Anybody getting my car would be really happy with its condition. Ive really taken good care of it and the car has served me well for the past 8 years. 2. Budget : RM 50k - 80k 3. New/Used/Unreg : New 4. Specs : Basic 5. Transmission : Auto 6. NA or FI : NA 7. Type : Sedan Need help here. I am consider to get my 1st car. But confuse of which car to get. I earn around 2K++ net income. I am considering of getting a H-Line persona, but i heard that early next year, new persona-R will be replacing the current. That's why i still pending my purchase of the car. However, i still considering whether to get vios / Honda / Forte or not. However, if i purchase these car, half of my salary immediately went to the car. So, should I wait for the new persona-R, purchase the current persona or go for vios/Honda/Forte?? Please help.. |

QUOTE(adrianwtx90 @ Aug 29 2011, 12:41 PM) income of around 2K and financing such a car would be a pain. unless you pay loads of down payment or you only pay abit of your loan. i suggest a vios.. toyota cars are relatively reliable and high resale value. i do suggest a new car if you intend to keep it for long. if its just a 'transition car' than get a 2nd hand myvi i would say. Or buy my 2003 Vios? Excellent condition & fully serviced at Toyota for past 8 years. Served me very well. SO far zero problems. |

QUOTE(samwjy @ Jan 8 2012, 01:11 PM) 1. Models : VW Golf 1.4TSI or Honda Civic 1.8/2.0 Probably better off with the Kia Optima. Despite all the negative aura about Korean makes, the Optima is a decent buy at RM143,888 with all the specs on offer and interior space.2. Budget : Below RM150k 3. New/Used/Unreg : New. 4. Specs : Full Spec 5. Transmission : Semi-Auto. 6. NA or FI : Any. 7. Type : 4/5 doors. 8. Remarks : Which of the above mentioned car is more reliable as in less chances of breaking down? Maintenance cost ? Golf or Civic is higher? How much difference? Power-wise, should be golf right? Thank you for your comments in advance =) Constructive advice is appreciated. |

QUOTE(speedbird90 @ Jan 31 2012, 02:03 PM) Hi guys, I drive a 2003 Volvo s40 2.0T. But maintenance and fuel is killing me. Last service cost RM 3500. Looking to buy a second hand car. You might wanna consider the new Kia Optima 2.0 at RM 143,888 (OTR) which im seriously considering as well. Read more about it here: http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/1931461/+6201. Brand : Japanese/Korean 2. Budget : Below 100k 3. New/Used/Unreg : 2nd hand 4. Specs : Preferred 2.0 5. Transmission : Doesn't matter 7. Type : 4 seater 8. Remarks : Good fuel consump, stable, cruise control I drive about 50km to work about 9 times a week at 120-150km/h. Salary, take home above 9k per month. Was considering civic, cruze, forte, stuff like that. Really like the a4 b7 but no more conti please. Your thoughts and suggestions? Or if you wanna consider a well maintained 2003 Toyota Vios 1.5E for RM 40K, then please PM me. You wont regret for sure. Can easily hit 180kmph but might not be advisable for safety reasons. But just an indication about how good the engine is despite being 8yrs +. Fuel consumption also quite low. The 42L full tank can easily take you 600km driving at 110kmph on 100% highway drives.
