Mitsubishi cars relatively safe to buy, they share alot of commonality with Proton.
This particular model came around the time where Proton stop re-badging Mitsubishi cars and try to do their own cars which created the Waja, Gen2, Persona.
Campro engine is Proton's own but alot of the chassis and supporting technology came from Mitsubishi.
Yes, its sort of getting old since it is a 2005 car, why not consider something newer within your budget?
2007 Mitsubishi Lancer - younger, low mileage, limited edition, so faster call the seller
its quite common to sell showroom car (car sit in showroom no move), test drive car (car sit in showroom or used as test drive).
some of the smaller dealers don't have money to have cars just sit in the showroom it has to be also a test drive car.
some of the larger dealers or direct company register many cars for their roadshow or hitting target set by company principle then discount it for consumers, these cars relatively untouched and considered new.
2007 Honda Accord - its within your budget, however i think there is something wrong with this car. it is not the 2007 model and its too cheap to be true, however you can always ring them up to clarify.
2003 Toyota Altis 1.8 - this should be about right.very good car going for a very cheap price, the catch? its 10 years old. however you can still manage to buy it with a loan which helps ease your cash flow, don't need to opt for full loan with 0% downpayment not worth it, spread it to like 2-4 years loan of 25k should be good. maintained properly it can last you another 7-9 years before it really rots.
2005 Chevy Optra 5 its a hatch not sedan, its a korean built car with american brand not japanese, however, its something decent enough if you're looking for something younger but i think the altis above is a much better buy.
2007 Smart ForFour - if you can stretch your budget to 40 then consider this car, its german build quality since this brand is under Mercedes group of companies. 5 star safety and good fc. maintenance might be abit more than you can handle though since it is after all a german b-segment car can expect spares to be in the japanese c-segment pricing. do think it over.
2007 Toyota Celica - when buying this model of celica there are two major models the ones with VVT-i engines and the ones with VVTL-i engines. the ones with VVTL-i are more powerful and better, however more expensive and people won't sell until its really old. this advert is for the normal VVT-i model. its not going to win you many races but it does have decent looks and still a chic magnet. probably the easiest and cheapest to maintain of this round up.
2005 Smart Roadster - if you're looking for uniqueness and rareness this car will definitely be the one you're looking for. power-wise it has a good power to weight ratio but then again its not a hardcore sports car so don't expect to be fighting in the same league as Nissan Skylines and Silvia's. then again its a gentleman's car and you won't look bad going to the office, clubbing or going to track days with it, its an all round car. maintenance cost is another issue, you need to bring it to specialist and parts aren't cheap because of its low numbers.
2008 Mazda RX8 - this is a japan import mazdaspeed version, so that means no ron95 it requires a minimum of ron97, feed it vpower it will only be happy. It has the looks and performance, however its notorious for being a fuel guzzler and money pit when it comes to maintenance. its not an easy path for rotary heaven.
2008 Mini Cooper - this is a special monte carlo edition if you fancy that sort of thing, other than that its just another mini. good power to weight ratio, good looks and maintenance wise well expect the usual with any conti experience, parts aren't always cheap and servicing must be done by specialist.
2007 VW Bug - this isn't the latest model so it doesn't have a fancy turbo/twincharger engine and it doesn't have that new look, well looks is quite relative. if they don't know how to see the difference between the old and new you can always fool them since the look isn't really a whole lot different. however, you cannot cheat yourself would you want this model since the new one is out now and its such a hot thing?
now its 2013, as long as the car isn't older than 2003 you can get loan for it.
spectra pretty simple car the worry is that not many people import parts for this car which would make it expensive, at the moment its still very affordable.
and many such cars still on the road so don't worry.
