2009 Toyota Avanza 1.5 - cheap and cheerful people and goods transporter, look for the 1500cc model as eventhough it is still underpowered it isn't as bad as getting the 1300cc model. It's a cheap model to own and maintain it doesn't require anything special, you can bring it to any shop and use cheapest parts it will still work. I just can't really get pass the looks personally, I don't like it. But it serves a purpose and if what you need is something that can transport for family of 7 people during the weekend and cargo during the weekday then its a good choice.

2008 Nissan Livina - there are similarities and differences between the Avanza and Livina. The Livina is based on a sedan car platform which is why its more lower and sleek, the Avanza is based on a box van platform which is why its boxy and tall. They both can perform the function of carrying 7 people and cargo. Livina is also abit underpowered because the bigger and heavier than what the 1600cc engine can output, yet still better than Avanza.

2006 Nissan X-trail - it seems like an X-trail marathon today, I can't remember how many times I recommended this car today. Anyways, function wise it should serve your purpose. If you need space for 7 people then you must either go with the Avanza or Livina. The AWD system is great and fuel saving, plus maintenance charges are quite cheap - it can use normal road tires too.

2009 Nissan Frontier - it cannot carry 7 people, it can only do 5 people max and not really spaciously because usually the extra cab for pickup to carry more people is a by-the-way function IMHO, okay for short trips but going outstation sitting at the rear in such cars is a torture. Cargo capacity for one model is better because the previous owner has already installed a roof so your cargo won't get wet in the rain but it also limits what kind of cargo you can carry, it can to fit the door. Big con for this car would be the need for specialty pickup tires and diesel engine roadtax (but diesel is good you get a powerful and frugal engine).

Looking at the Tucson specs (newest) it is very impressive but then I've heard impressive things about the Sonata too but in real world performance it isn't there yet.

Unfortunately, funky and cool looking SUV's only came about recently. Before this they were very utilitarian cars.

2010 Toyota Rush - looks are decent but hink of it as a 4WD version of the Avanza.

2008 Nissan X-trail - boxy and ugly, if you able to find a Murano/Dualis under your budget it would be better since they are the same underneath but the design is totally different.

2008 Hyundai Santa Fe - good points is the size, luxurious interior and diesel engine. Rest of it, have no idea but it is within your budget I thought I put it up here for you to consider.

Currently, I will only recommend China made/brand cars to my enemies.
As you can see from the video's above although the Cherry Tiggo looks like a Toyota RAV4, it sure doesn't perform as good as one eventhough the RAV4 is an old model.

Chevrolet cars being sold in Asia are mostly from Daewoo.
Chevrolet bought over Daewoo and most of the Chevvy cars we see here are all from that heritage/factory.
They're of better quality engineering that's for sure but i don't know if maintenance is cost effective or not. 

i first got caught by the forte's features and reasonable price for a C-class car. But my parents didn't agree on it as they afraid Kia's RV not good. So I would say I'm putting RV, reliability and FC as priority.

I've manged to narrow down the decisions and I came up with Honda City and Nissan Almera. Between these two, which do you think is a better decision compared side by side? @@
