Proton, famous with their lousy Quality Control. Not all Saga is bad in quality, some said buying proton is like buying lottery, if you're lucky enough you'll get a less problematic car from them. <<  laugh.gif

So far i only heard about the bad FC on Saga BLM with Automatic transmission, some claim the Manual transmission is giving good FC tho.. Try asking for some opinion from Saga BLM owner, there's a Saga BLM thread in FnF section.

IMO, i will go for BLM instead of Myvi..

The reason i choose BLM over Myvi: It's more spacious than Myvi, larger boot space than myvi, it's a 1.3, better handling than Myvi.

Myvi over BLM : Looks cute for a K-car like this, better performance than BLM??, chick dig Myvi more than BLM. (Other than that, i don't have any reason to choose this car sleep.gif)
thanks for ur info smile.gif

Well u mentioning the 1st gen vios and 2nd gen vios which is the current vios, also known as the dugong. Actually both versions are more or less the same although the dugong has bigger space n more spacious than the 1st gen. Many ppl like the looks of the 1st gen although the dugong with bodykits is always a looker.

U can get the used 1st gen around 45-60k from 2004-2007 but for the dugong, u may need at least 60-70k from end 2007-2008 units.

Hi travis,

I'm a college student right now, my father intend to get me a car which cost around 15k-25k second hand car.

My top 5 choices are
1.Hyundai Accent (Auto or Manual)
2.Kia Picanto (Auto or Manual)
3.Proton Waja ( Auto / Manual )
4.Saga LMST ( Manual )
5.Savvy ( Manual)

Could you please let me know the maintainence cost for all the 5 models? And also FC for them. smile.gif

THanks, appreciate your help.

Take out the BMW, its not realistic to own and not to mention to maintain.

U can opt for the waja or saga BLM here. To choose, its all depend if u want a new car or a used car. New cars has better advantage in terms of warranty while although the waja is a better car than the saga blm, u may wanna check properly on the quality and condition to avoid headaches.

Pls use the form so i know what ur budget or specs required.

Anyway, with ur budget, the used waja from 2001-2002 is achievable. But u may need to fork more for maintainence due that proton batches during those yrs are quite notorious. FC wise is going to be around 10-12km/l which is still ok for a 1.6 saloon car.

U can opt for the used saga LMST which should be economical to run or maintain.

I would prefer the savvy manual in this case as it has the best FC in ur options. Maintainence might be a worry but should be economical. I cant estimate the maintenance cost so u may wanna check on the savvy owners thread in this forum.

Currently using a 30yr old Mazda. It ain't no looker but it gets me from place to place so I have no complaints. Unfortunately in my world, impressions do matter.

Hmmmmm

I really not sure what sort of impressions u need to make. Within 25k i can think of a used kelisa from yr 2002-2004 if u dont mind a subcompact hatchback.

I would like to recommend a 15 year old sentra, corolla(SEG, AE101 series)/civic(EG) around that price range if u looking for a saloon car. But those cars are aged so since u driving a very old car, i not quite sure if u dont mind driving another old car.

Would like to know the difference between waja 1.6 and waja 1.8 , what's the difference between the two cars? I found out that 1.8 is cheaper compared to 1.6 waja. Why is that so? =/

Any review for Toyota Rush? The only bad review i heard so far is the fuel consumption since its a four wheel drive. Are there any cons besides this? Need to take all cost of consideration ... hmm.gif

1.8 model has been discontinued long time ago. They are Peugeot engines, may hav problem sourcing parts and maintaining it. On the other hand, 1.6L is Mitsu and the newer ones are Campro.

1. Mazda Lantis
2. Honda Civic EG hatch
3. Toyota SEG

Be warned, you pay Rm25k for the car, u may need another 5 to 10k maintaining/repairing it.

the 1.8 engine is actually sourced from renault but mated with the 4 speed auto gearbox from mitsubishi. Its like mixing croissants with wasabe so the results is disasterous. The waja 1.8 is prone with problems so that explains why it is cheaper than 1.6 in terms of used car value.

Therefore, avoid the 1.8 like a plague and go for the 1.6A instead, hopefully the mitsubishi engine one not the campro (per 2005).

heard this 1.8 one caused by ECU located at the bottom engine bay? then prone to be spoilt by water?
ya. just avoid 1.8 waja. few days ago spotted one waja stalled after went through flood (below heel's level). but other car all can get through without any problem.

How many years u wanna take ur loan? Well with max 9 years, min 10% downpayment, u can easily afford a new saga BLM B spec or a perodua viva normal spec. Both are cost less than 40k

This is a 10 yr old car so i not sure if u can apply for loan for this car, but unless if ur financial record is clean and job is stable, u might have chance to get ur loan approved.

Interest rate might be high at 4-5% or more. Consult various banks n see.

Otherwise this is a sweet vehicle, just be sure to research properly for workshops that can maintain Audi cars.

The honda city for 30k or less will be the 1st generation one frm 1997-2000. Its cheap but getting a loan will be hard. If u looking for idsi/vtec one with 7 speed CVT, u need at least 50k.

Hi. I'm planning to buy my first car. Family's mechanic recommended this car. Previous owner is a girl who takes very good care of her car and drove only around 30k miles. Mum said it's a bit on the pricey side considering its age. I'd like to know if it is worth it? Exterior and interior in tip top condition according to mechanic. Thanks!
