I'm about to set up my PS3 rig in my room but being my own single room, its not big. From the wall and my face, there's about 170~180cm of distance. So can't just buy any big LCD or for sure it will hurt my neck and destroy my eye in long-term. For this distance what would be the best size? I have a 42" Plasma in the living room and sit for about 3metre away and it was ok though can still live with bigger ones. But being half the distance, just afraid it would be TOO big. If I recall, one step down is 32". Am I correct? Would that be too small instead and just go for 42" for better experience (with a little price to be paid perhaps). Another thing is what would be the recommended FullHD LCD TV with that size in mind assuming I have a budget of 3000~4000? (still not confirm but that's my planning though cheaper is better) One more is, what's the going price for tilting wall-mount bracket (up-down)? Much thanks

Thw width dimension of your LCD TV x 5 = proper sitting distance.

Are you sure? Because even on my plasma which is a 42" I'm only sitting about 3metre away, and even that its wall to wall. Based on your formula, should have been 5metre. But even with that, feel like I can go bigger without causing too much strain.

Well with that calculator, recommendation by THX for 42" is 5.4 feet. 170cm is about 5.5 feet so I guess that's a good size to start with. Anyone sharing their own experience with similar details would be best though Anyway for now, I'll set it to 42". Anyone can recommend a good LCD for PS3 with that size in mind? FullHD is preferred of course. Oh and thanks to maxizanc for the link This post has been edited by exentric_nova: Oct 19 2009, 01:28 AM

Well not exactly sure with all those Hz gimmicks. Does with worth while in the case of PS3? (better experience, etc). In short, is it a must have feature?

So far i have watch action movies with 100Hz TV. All i can say, it's the best movie watching experience ever. Never tried with PS3 though, but i thought all of the hardcore gamers would look into all of the speed... smooth.. unlagged.. things or whatever it's supposed to be called. Sorry i'm not really a technical person, i only help what i could.

True, but that's the point of my word gimmick. Sure, faster is better. But to a point where not even my eyes can detect, it is pretty much pointless. But then again, I have no experience in this matter thus my question; do I need it for a better and more fulfilling experience? In any case, in your own point of view, what would you think would be nice? As you've mentioned, you've tried with a 100Hz TV, so, which brand and model is that? Have you tried with the normal LCD without those 100Hz feature? The more opinion, the better a discussion This post has been edited by exentric_nova: Oct 19 2009, 01:57 AM
