Hi guys! I'm in a bit of a dilemma. :-P I've been lappie hunting for awhile and i've narrowed it down to 3 possibilities based on looks/specs/budget. It's either dell studio 15, benq s42, or the acer timeline series. Problem is i wonder if DDR3 RAM is an issue as i read that it's much better than DDR2 and not backward compatible. Plus the acer line is light with good battery life! However, i've heard some unkind stuff about acer. Hence the other alternatives. I also know dell doesn't include a carrying case and i'd really like the freebies given by normal distributers eg. Mouse, cooler pad etc. So that's the bad point bout buying online. Oh btw i'm getting it come christmas time too where i might be shopping in singapore. Advisable to get there? Sorry for the wall of text. I'm using my mobile to type. Thanks!

Thanks for the quick reply guys. Probably have a look at the design for benq now. :-) though dell has a funky look. Oh how bout the carrying case? Benq has that freebie? And it's not advisable to get in singapore? Heard electronics are dirt cheap there.

Ok thanks! Heh heh. Yay for new laptop! :-) just curious though, who here would splash for dell's designer look? I always end up making the price go sky high when customising online.
Added on November 2, 2009, 4:52 pmOh also the price for studio 15 doesn't include a carrying case but benq does. Is it expensive? I tried the ones for dell online but they are $! You know what i mean? It adds up. Whereas when buying from distributors you get free stuff. Bang for buck right?

Didn't know i can nego freebies with dell. Great! Looks like i'm leaning more towards studio 15 now. Plus i heard it has backlit keyboard. Last but not least should i take the 3gb ddr2 or bump it up to 4? Worth it?

Guys. A pal of mine mentioned that if i were to get the studio 15 that i should bump it up to RM3299 package for a better processor. Apparently the 2699 model would be insufficient for future heavy apps. I plan to use this laptop for at least 3years. Thoughts?

Thanks guys. Hmmm looks like i'll be looking at benq s42. Still headache between that and studio 15. Ha ha jialat. :-) torn between performance and the warranty. Still leaning more on dell though.
