Hello, I want to buy a new laptop so went to lowyat and saw 2 model that I like smile.gif which are

ASUS UL50Vg-D130VHP2G320GDL RM2999 and;
HP Pavillion dv4-1409TU RM2799

Could you help me specify which one of the above is more compatible & suit for my usage?

My usage of the laptop will be:
- Online gaming like dragonica, emil chronicle
- DVD game like The sims3
- also good for watching movies, listening to music

Budget below 3k

Brand preferably the model above biggrin.gif

Thanks in advance! ^o^

if want to game, take the ul50vg,
the intel gma 4500mhd on dv4 is horrible for gaming.

other suitable for gaming is studio 15, benq s42, toshiba l510-s4314
the only advantage of ul50vg is its thinner and provide longer battery life, performance wise, lose to those three.

can consider inspiron 14 for rm1999, better after sales service.
if want some break having games, asus k40ab for rm 1999
if want long battery life, 6-7 hours, acer 4810TZ for rm 1999
all is 14'' smile.gif

if want smaller, 11.6'', acer 1810TZ at rm 1899, long battery life as well.

well, if possible, buy online, since after upgrade the video card, still inside your budget~

the gma4500mhd on the basic model is weaker than nvidia on your last hp notebook sweat.gif

this one...would it be good alternative beside dell inspiron 13?
saw the size is much smaller, altho i think i couldnt play much DVD game on it..hmmm hmm.gif

well, performance wise, it lose out from inspiron 13.
but that still ok, because the main selling point of 1810TZ is small and long battery life while still better performance than atom netbook.
but yeah, don't hope much on gaming.

There is a dealer here in Msia so there shouldn't be much of a problem pertaining to warranty issues.Just check out the Sager thread for more info smile.gif

Sorry if i come back with more questions.. i jus don want to waste my $ on next laptop that last for 1 year oni.. sweat.gif

i checked my previous laptop that died on me.

HP Pav. 2032
-AMD Athlon (1.9Ghz, 512Kb L2 Cache), 2 GB RAM, 160 HD, 12.1", Nvidia Gforce 6150
-Bought for RM 2.8K

Now can i know if there's anything similar brand/model like my previous lap on the market nowdays?
I found this requirement is enough for me to do my everyday tasks including playing Sims 3. nod.gif
-Budget shall b RM 2k to 2.5k or less is better.

Thanks notworthy.gif

if really want similar, consider HP Pav. dv2-1122, 12.1'', AMD ATHLON NEO X2 L355, ATI RADEON X3410, 2gb ram, 320gb hdd, should be rm 2.5k.
unless really anti-amd, consider k40in, or the inspiron 13 with upgrade video card.

it should be fine unless you are demanding.
the lack of cpu power is compensated with the better gpu in its class.

gpu = video card, which is most important factor in gaming laugh.gif

well, the current dv2 is better in multitasking than the last time dv2 since now using dual core rather than single core smile.gif

Need some recommendation about buying a laptop

Any brand will do

Budget around RM6k-7k

Mainly for gaming

Size and weight doesn't really matter

Thanks in advance smile.gif

I wouldn't recommend the M17X here. Too pricey and comes with a WXGA resolution and a single GTX260M at base price.
