you need to customize it to have backlit keyboard, it doesn't come by default.
4gb is useless if you are not using 64-bit OS.

I see.
from 3gb to 4gb shouldn't be any improvement, unless you are already using all 3gb.

QUOTE(lanatir @ Nov 3 2009, 01:43 PM)
need your help for suggestions. with RM4-5k budget

1) 15in
2) mostly used for photo processing and internet
3) occasional games (but not hardcore gamer)
4) no need for Bluray or HD

am leaning towards dell's studio 15 with added RAM. am also guessing that a core i7 would be good for photo processing. what other suggestions are there? (asus has some interesting choices but their model range is quite convoluted) thank you.

how much ram you're thinking?
studio xps 16 is a better upgrade nod.gif

T has 35w TDP while P has 25W TDP, which means P should have lower temp in max load.
while SU is more to power saving but less performance.

how long to start computer usually depends on the hard drive and how you optimize the windows.

external dvd can be found on most computer shop, ranging rm 100-200

if the online you mention is only flash games, then dedicated graphic card is not needed, because its mostly depends on processor, meanwhile in the end of this year, adobe might release gpu acceleration for flash.

DDR2 and DDR3 only have couple minutes different in battery life while DDR3 cost much more than DDR2.

hp dv3-2111tx is nice choice if you need the dvd-drive and some basic gpu with p-series processor.
13z if you need the extra battery life.
but if you want to game, better stick with studio 15, or benq s42 if you can strech your budget for the windows 7.

t6600 is enough unless you are very demanding.

HDMI is the same with vga and dvi but different connector, it can output audio and video at the same time, to connect to bigger tv.

well, those people who have needs in gaming or heavy application that utilized gpu. If just for watching movies, etc, intel gma is more than enough.

to survive 3-4 years, mostly depends on how the user treat it and how he/she demanding and lucks.

non-glossy surface is kinda hard, even the dell vostro 1320 lid is glossy.
toshiba m900 is not that good in battery life also weighted at 2.2kg.
sony sr55 with hd4570, for your need you wouldn't need the dedicated gpu, since its just wasting battery life and produced more heat.
fujitsu, no comment. looks like it has glossy body.
inspiron 13z, have the best battery life out of those, but performance wise is weaker than all of them, but sufficient for office and net surfing.
