well, even if its some time, still it is gaming.

DDR3 is definitely will be the future, but still need some time to be mainstream.

as for now, DDR3 and DDR2 doesn't give any significant improvement since its the fsb on core 2 duo that limit it.
DDR3 using 1.5v while DDR2 using 1.8v, which would mean battery saving, but in reality, it just around 5-10 minutes extra.

do note, UL80VT is more on battery life while U80V is more on performance side.

well, depends on your usage.
if your program is cpu-dependent, better get the one with 2.53ghz
else, for average usage, they should perform similar.

something like video editing, photoshop, rts games, etc... they love better processor.
or can simply said, task that always make your cpu usage 100%, then you better get faster one than the current one.

well, if its for that usage,
asus k40ab is also enough, rm 1999
but asus u80v also is a good choice, better design, backlit-keyboard, lighter, should have lower temperature and longer battery life than k40ab nod.gif

for gaming, consider benq s42, dell studio 15, toshiba l510-s4314
out of those three, benq s42 would be best performer while studio 15 and toshiba l510-s4314 would perform similar, just different screen size and after sales.
the samsung has basic gpu, not really gaming-friendly
