Well... Brian said its true also. The system is looks like you all play blackshot and sudden attack. I dont mind all this. As long there is no lag when we play, should be fine. I dont want lag game with 300+ pings. If below 150 pings, its should be ok. Anyway, wait and see what will happen after it release. xD
*
Still, how would they ensure no lag on an untested system? Plus,a public beta was canceled for some unknown reason.I sense MW2 is gonna be a fail game.If they are serious on MW2,at public beta is a must, even it's just a stress test for the MP servers.

A major announcement like this on 3 weeks before a game's release date doesnt sound good to me.

Besides,402 lied to the PC community by saying PC MW2 will always be the same for PC.Removing dedicated servers and modding on PC isnt the norm for a PC FPS game.

Wait and see what will happen later... I'm sure it will fail too much. lol.

p/s: Serioulsy I hate steam =.='' The most troublesome software to use.
*
Steam isnt that bad if you have a few games there and the connection is ok.

I still prefer Impulse,though.

Anyway, like i said in the other thread, Bowling is an idiot of a community manager. I highly doubt he had the knowledge of any technical features the game had yet alone its PC version.

If i was activision, i'd fire him now for the possible loss of sales just by announcing those things. (Marketing strategy 101, you only let people know the GOOD side of your system, not your actual system per-say. He fails.)
*
He's being honest, rather than out right lying to the PC community.

I rather know now that there is no dedicated servers, than after i bought the game.

there are better ways to announce it. You dont say NO DEDICATED SERVERS and dont mention why. The good must always outweigh the bad.
Being honest is one thing, knowing what you're doing is another.

anyhoo, debate also useless. Hahaha
*
I do agree. The way they announce this is just ridiculous. At least it should have a video or two on the new IW.Net.

What constitutes as okay ping for steam users, and how often to you get a playable experience? Not trying to sound smart, just curious as I haven't used that platform before.

From a dev standpoint, is it possible to give dedicated hosting back to the players? To a layman like me it's akin to removing a prosthetic limb (a useless one) and replacing it  with another, but then again I can't tell one string of code from another. Heck, I dint care if they want to release it as DLC, I'm sure people would pay for it. Smth like a premium for paid users in mmorpgs.
*
To be honest,Steam has nothing to do with MW2's MP component. All the MP stuff is done on IW.Net where no one knows how would it be like.

Steam is just used here for autopatching, piracy control, and Punk Buster replacement.Thats all.

QUOTE(crashtec @ Oct 20 2009, 02:31 PM)
One of the greatest examples to this -

"readding dedicated servers or Lan play" was seen in Demi-god. The initial release required you to play via internet match-making. Later patches "fixed" that by enabling Lan play via a 100mb patch if im not mistaken.

It is possible, with enough pressure, that IW may re-add lan play as a DLC. But get this, as a DLC, they may charge you for it.

Which means, you purchase a copy (original) then wait a month or two and get a LAN DLC patch so you can play locally. Its a great idea, since their market growth and income comes majorly from consoles, its highly possible they might take up this system.

Just a thought tho.
*
I did seen that in a few games before.

There is a possibility that they will add it back later on,but seems rather slim.

That just show that they dont even care about us anymore.

What kind of idiot cant even find a decent server to play on?

They are aiming for casuals as they are the bigger part of the market.

Looks like the annoying GFWL without a basic server list to me.

No more Activision games for me.Maybe same goes for Blizzard games if the quality starts to drop.

I doubt Blizzard gonna stay strong like how is it now.Probably thats why SC2 have 3 separate products now,not because they have more story to tell,it's because Kodick is behind them.

Once the Kodick's greed gets into Blizzard,it's gone.

SC2 will be next fail game of the year. Then, followed by D3.

Now i wish Jay Wilson should have stayed in Relic.

It means that you dont have dedicated servers.

You need a more beefy rig to run this game.If IWNet choose you to be the host.

Well, suddenly an evil idea just cross my mind. (but completely legal way to get back at Activision/IW)  cool2.gif

1) Get as many friend as you can, share the money and buy ONLY 1 copy of MW2.

2) Create one solo account and activate MW2 with this solo account. (Meaning is no other games bind to this account.)

3) Download and start playing the single player, once finish, pass the account to your friend.
(Steam only allow 1 account active online at a time, and sharing account is a matter of trust, so I think this is perfectly legal?)

4) After everyone completed the single player, sale the game away. The MP will be sucks anyway.  whistling.gif

5) Rinse and repeat...

6) #$%#$#$ ????

7) Profit !! (Or no profit to Activision/IW)  hmm.gif
*
Why should i pay Activision even for a copy while there are other alternatives?

QUOTE(Clavicus @ Oct 31 2009, 10:58 AM)

Silenced sniper rifle + heartbeat sensor at the beginning. Details > MW too. *sigh* the game that could have been. sad.gif

The MP does look really good, but sadly,it's screwed now.

All im gonna say is,LOL at IW and Activision.

XBox360's MW2 have already been pirated on torrent sites as it was leaked.People are downloading it 2 weeks before release.Go and look for it at some torrent sites.

If you have been treating PC gamers well,we would still support you by buying original and play on our own dedicated servers.

The issue is not that you like or dislike or agree or disagree with its propaganda values.

The issue is that a lot of people here are unwilling to even ACKNOWLEDGE it, because it disturbs their sense of serenity.

ROFL!

Because there are no propaganda in any of the CoD games.

Might as well put your money for a copy of Team Fortress 2 and Left 4 Dead 2 than this piece of crap.

Good luck in buying retail. There is a disc problem with the game.

Yes,there are issues of that on the net.Google it! Seems like IW deleted the faulty disc problem.

That makes buying MW2 no different from buying pirated.Except this time, you wont even see a cyclic redundant error,as the disc is empty from what some claim!!!

Well done,Activision and IW,you killed the online community, removed modding and even small things like lean, treat the PC gamers as the minority, and treat the console gamers as if they arent there. Now,give the rest of the PC gamers who wants to give IWNet a try with a broken disc.

How much fail can there be?
