1) what is the purpose of xbox live membership??

2) Is modded consoles is safe to go online??

It was used to enable multiplayers and some arcade game promotions.

Modded console can go online. But they do have the ability to ban your console permanently. When will you get that punishment when you online is one very good question as some got remain online after 2years while some got it immediately for unknown reason.

1) Xbox Live GOLD membership is required to play games online. You can go online using Xbox Live with the SILVER membership, but you will not be able to play online or download certain files. You can get the GOLD membership by buying the cards from a few people who sell them here. Or, the websites which have been mentioned above. I pay my GOLD membership by credit card.

2) I think it's easy to sum it up: modded Xbox 360 is NOT safe to use the Xbox Live services. You will get banned sooner or later no matter how 'rare' you go online. Besides, the point of getting the membership is to get online right?

And please people. Don't ask for any 'tips' on how to get online safely with the modded console. You chose the 'cheap' way to play Xbox 360, then offline play is the only way to go. I'm just glad that PS3 don't have modded consoles... YET.

2) I've read somewhere on the internet MS will do a ban in a wave.. means that just like last year, on November, any console that flagged as modded by MS will be banned at the same time... so this year, it might be on November again, together with Facebook,Twitter etc major updates..

no one ever know when or will MS make another ban wave.. you can just enjoy while you can.. or get a virgin xbox360..

going on live to play multiplayer isnt much to me. its just the download from xbox live is appealing to me. i plan to get as many free videos of The Guild. And i dunwan to get an elite and waste 120gb of memory of my hdd.

so got any other use for the hdd?

i mean, i always thought that CHIPPED means the ones can play fake games. And i heard that if its MODDED ( which i was assuming that its like adding a fan or light or cool looking case) that u can get banned too?

Modded is usually used as a term referring to the modified chip used to play pirated games. In this case, we assume that the OP means just that. It's pretty vague when it comes to talking about another modded term, which is of course the ones you just mentioned. If you're talking about the latter, then you don't have nothing to worry about getting banned by M$. We don't want to know what you want to use with the Xbox Live services 'cause everything from download, streaming, and playing online are part of the Xbox Live services. So if you unfortunately (or fortunately for you maybe) to own the non-virgin (the modified chip) Xbox 360, then good luck going online (download, playing online, whatever it is).

Just a friendly reminder: it's clearly stated that modded consoles discussion is not allowed on this forum. So don't just casually discuss like if you're at Imbi or Sungei Wang plaza where most shops only know about the 'ahem' games.


What if it is true? Then happy lah can play pirated games? That's what I call being 'cheap'.

wow , thats interesting

the bottom line is that there is no 'safe' method of playing or connecting online with a modded console. it will always be a cat and mouse game.

the leet hackers/modders may be ahead today, but who knows about tomorrow. likewise, microsoft might be ahead tomorrow, but the modders might strike back the day after.

if you like to play online with other human beings or download stuff from the xbox live marketplace, buying a gold membership and unmodded xbox 360 is the way to go.

at here, mod = pirate enabled as one only need to change media firmware and not a fly-by chip.

If you're talking about other type of mod, as long as it's not to the electronics then it's ok already.

Modding fan considered as a mod and if you're doing the 12V mod....they claimed to be able to detect it but so far no one ever got banned by that yet.
