I've noticed that people who play hifi or are into high end setups, they'll prefer silver bullet for the soundstage is very wide and you catch more details plus the sound is more "balance" sound.

These people are 25 and above..mainly listen to jazz, vocals and classical.

Those who don't, would rather the more fun sounding eterna

These people are 18-20+, mainly listen to pop and rock and hip hop/RnB.

I guess with age as you grow older, you'd tend to seek out details and "accuracy" of timbre rather than just boom boom bass.

But I'm kinda like a hybrid, I like to listen to all genres, so I pick IEMs to my mood.

Jazz/Vocals - Silverbullet
Hiphop/pop - Eterna
Serious audition - RE0

Solution : Listen to everything.

If i really really need to tune the sound, i usually just punch in some EQ settings, because changing setup is annoying and time consuming.

from the age rating.. damn i AM pretending to be young~.. ahaha...
and i consider eterna's bass to be just slightly boomy, and eq'able to be very warm and full, just the way i like it. smile.gif
but would love to try the silver bullet sometime.. any lowyatians using this?

For me I don't touch EQ even how awesome it is.
Thats just me, a purist.

So I just have multiple IEMs to suit my mood LOL
But don't take my word as gospel, just how I like it.

It depends, IEMs are very different than speakers. There's resonance in high-mid frequencies and high frequencies at default on all IEMs. That's why sleekaudio SA6 have configurable settings to compensate this, their website on SA6 did mention about the resonance effect inside ear canals on IEMs.

I find the eterna just perfect for me that the frequency response on my listening volume is near flat. The proof is that binaural recording sounded nothing short but awesome to me, the 3d effect is easily heard.

PL50 is a crappy iem imho.
everyone who auditioned them after hearing the Eterna and silver bullet, gave me a dirty look.

I'd prefer the pl30 anytime.

I would be inclined to agree, but I've never used EQ - not that i can remember
I don't see a reason to start using it now.

For me, i'd just play around with tips to find the sound i'm looking for.

if u dont need it.. then better not..
eq is just an option tho.. and i still prefer not to eq, coz unless proper parametric.. things just wont sound so natural after eq'ing...

whats your take on pl50 vs eterna? smile.gif

btw, with the PL50, the driver is very, very low profile, i can even sleep on my side without having my song interrupted, can i do the same with the Eterna? hmm.gif

while listening to an IEM, if u need to alter the EQ to match ur liking, obviously that IEM is not ur cup of tea.

PL50 is mids oriented while Eterna is bass oriented. So u like mids/vocal more or bass? Each got pros and cons, one can like one IEM but that doesnt mean it suits u. Best is audition them.

expect lots of bass.. nice quality ones tho... but need some burnin to tighten the sound.. initially a bit too b00my..
and also very smooth sounding... also warm sounding, a bit dark as well.

Nevermind, anything i don't like, can just tweak it off with RockBox's awesome EQ laugh.gif

the transition from a bass-shy PL50 to a bass-ful Eterna might take some time laugh.gif

btw, so can i lie down sideways on my bed without the music being interrupted? Thats prolly my favourite thing about the PL-50s, super low profile drivers laugh.gif
