Hi guys, anyone in the first bulk can share out more detail review on the eterna?

i'm no pro in this, but i'll share a bit
setup: refer my sig (derringer)
source files: mp3 V0, mp3 CBR 320K
genre: live orchestra 30%, Jpop 20%, Cpop 10%, Digital/Analog remixes 20%, english pop 20%
comparing devices: FS Atrio
Sound ImpressionsHighs:
definitely extends higher than the Atrio, but still not much sparkles. Flat. on some tracks the high instruments like the high flutes and the metal clashes of the saucers get veiled out and sounded a bit smeared, but on most tracks they are nicely handled.
mids:
this is where I dislike Eterna the most. the lower highs and the higher bass, along with the mids, get a bloated, unclear texture to them VERY easily depending on the source recordings. vocals are also a hit and miss with the Eternas. some sounded good and silky on them, others will just makes u feel like listening to them through a wall of clothes or something...
lows:
the Eternas is definitely a basshead phones i must say. even when comparing to the Lord of the Bass Atrio, they pack a real punch here. Though they lose out slightly to the bass depth and layering to Atrio, they are still very enjoyable in this department. well controlled (slightly bloated in some tracks due to the mid, high bass humps) and powerful impact.
soundstage:
small, but acceptable. nothing much to complain/compliment here.
imaging:
excellent on certain tracks that don't make the mids smeared. I guess the imaging is the main reason it is able to keep me listening to it despite the atrio. they are so fun to listen to with all the instruments seperated clearly (again, depending on source) and right around you. Atrio does imaging ok too, but just not fun and 3D enough compared to the Eternas.
ConclusionWell worth the money imo. But the fact that you need to pick songs for them to shine is quite discouraging sometimes, when I just wanted to plug in and enjoy music... I would like to quote ClieOS in summing up the Eternas: They are like the 7 sins, you know its not right (it doesn't sound right), but you just can't resist (listening to) them. well put imo. When you think of their sound, you'll be like "omg its really quite blurred out, I don't like it", but when you actually put them on, you can't stop!
