Today I received the Fiio E1.
Brief Impression - I've borrowed a nano 4g to do the testing and review. I'm quite impressed that Ipod's amplification has improved since the last time I heard it, 1-2g era (i know, it was a long time ago.....) It can drive the Eterna quite effectively at about 1/2 but where it starts to shine(3/4), the amplification starts to distort. The highs start to clip and become very harsh and unrefined. Plugged in the E1 - which is quite a nifty device if I must say so myself. Bass extension went deeper but tighter. Clarity and imaging came alive even with mid quality MP3 there was evident SQ improvement. I hate to admit it, but as an anti-ipod person - Ipod + E1 + Eterna kicks my Fuze's butt. Now I have changed my views drastically about apple Ipods. |

QUOTE(Fred86 @ Dec 1 2009, 10:54 PM) i'm no pro in this, but i'll share a bit setup: refer my sig (derringer) source files: mp3 V0, mp3 CBR 320K genre: live orchestra 30%, Jpop 20%, Cpop 10%, Digital/Analog remixes 20%, english pop 20% comparing devices: FS Atrio Sound Impressions Highs: definitely extends higher than the Atrio, but still not much sparkles. Flat. on some tracks the high instruments like the high flutes and the metal clashes of the saucers get veiled out and sounded a bit smeared, but on most tracks they are nicely handled. mids: this is where I dislike Eterna the most. the lower highs and the higher bass, along with the mids, get a bloated, unclear texture to them VERY easily depending on the source recordings. vocals are also a hit and miss with the Eternas. some sounded good and silky on them, others will just makes u feel like listening to them through a wall of clothes or something... lows: the Eternas is definitely a basshead phones i must say. even when comparing to the Lord of the Bass Atrio, they pack a real punch here. Though they lose out slightly to the bass depth and layering to Atrio, they are still very enjoyable in this department. well controlled (slightly bloated in some tracks due to the mid, high bass humps) and powerful impact. soundstage: small, but acceptable. nothing much to complain/compliment here. imaging: excellent on certain tracks that don't make the mids smeared. I guess the imaging is the main reason it is able to keep me listening to it despite the atrio. they are so fun to listen to with all the instruments seperated clearly (again, depending on source) and right around you. Atrio does imaging ok too, but just not fun and 3D enough compared to the Eternas. Conclusion Well worth the money imo. But the fact that you need to pick songs for them to shine is quite discouraging sometimes, when I just wanted to plug in and enjoy music... I would like to quote ClieOS in summing up the Eternas: They are like the 7 sins, you know its not right (it doesn't sound right), but you just can't resist (listening to) them. well put imo. When you think of their sound, you'll be like "omg its really quite blurred out, I don't like it", but when you actually put them on, you can't stop! |

You know it ain't right, but you LOVE them anyway. hippo have a new IEM called hippo Epic. but so far in jaben.net sgheadphones.net and head-fi.org no one has ANY info on it yet. not even the god of internet (google). guess I have to go jaben to test it out myself - On a side note, might be getting the VB soon too. Maybe it's time for a shootout? |

well i did really tested a while for this eterna. its dark and it bassy yet FUN, definitely one of the best bass I heard so far. Mids is so so and treble of course is not that great.
Due to my own preference on the treble and details this iem definitely is not my cup of tea. Of course if I got extra cash, i'd like to get this iem and enjoy the bass. |

Okay we have gotten distributorship for FA products -
This means we have ready stock to send out, local warranty 1 year (singapore). Not to clash with the current MO, I will wait for it to be finished then I'll open orders while trying to sort out the postage fees/transaction methods. We are currently stocking Eterna/Silver bullets and we'll be bringing in most of the Fundamental line and some of the signature line - Sigma/Omega No need for MOQ, just purchase as and when you need one. We're also offering bundles with Fiio E1 and E5 at attractive prices. For now I'll accept paypal while trying to secure a malaysian Maybank account for my own. |

If my earphones have problems later, am I able to claim warranty through the singapore distributor? Since I got it from the last bulk I don't have the receipt to prove the date of purchase.

I'm sorry but only purchases through me are valid for warranty claims.
We go by the serial number system, each product is registered with the distributor even stocks that I take from them will be registered so they know exactly who took the stock. Added on December 23, 2009, 1:43 amFA has informed us that we'd be receiving a new sample product of their signature line. Its called Sigma v2 and it has a kevlar cable. I don't know how it works and the first for me to even hear that kevlar is being used as cable. I will update this thread when i get a chance to review it. I want to revive back this thread. Since there are more Fischer Eterna users now I want your guy's opinion about the tips for the Eterna.
Anyone used other eartips beside the stock bi-flange and the stock single-flange tips? I found that if change to the sing-flange tips the highs are more prominent, changing the sound signature considerably. The bass is also reduced. The biggest problem is that the isolation reduced a lot, does the ultimate ears bi-flange sound like Eterna's single-flange but with more isolation? ive tried with bijou double flange but failed (coz tips holes are a bit bigger than eterna tips)
tried with some old stock tips i have from my ifrogz and the isolation is kindda bad... try squeezing my pl21 tips n made it... but i still... still cant get a good isolation... tried with ck100's foam tips.... yeah... i got the isolation but somehow i dont feel its the max isolation... since i feel my left side is slightly sounded thiner than my right.... tried my custom sleeve and voila! the sound is just right.... i got a balance sound and a great isolation.... |
