It's fine using plywood coz reasonable price, just handle with care due to thin layer material.

Hi Kinghand,

From what i know, there is no proper answer saying that which wood is more "tahan" as its actually depends on how you use it. As for your case, you might worry cause plywood sounds "empty", bt actually its good for ventilation, some more it's made by real wood, not compress wood like Melamine board which most people think its more solid. Those who ever face problem with Melamine ABS before will surely understand what im talking about as nowadays more and more people request for plywood for their cabinet inner part.

Hope the above information is useful to you smile.gif

Actually the price for plywood is only slightly higher than compress wood due to more time and works needed. I can't really tell which quality better, but as from my point of view, i prefer plywood cause it won't expand easily but compress wood will.

As for your 2nd question, do you mean chipboard inner part for kitchen cabinet or wardrobe? Anyhow, we do accept this kind of order also coz some still prefer chipboard due to cheaper price & its "sounds" more solid than plywood smile.gif

Just a brief on plywood and compressed wood.

Plywood is made of actual timber log that being peel piece by piece then glued it together cross-linked with its fiber direction
Compressed wood is made of chips like chipboard or MDF board than being glued together.

Cost to cost wise, plywood material cost is more expensive than chips, as it needs to used whole timber log to process, while chips based just simply can take any particles left over.

Particle board can 'swell' if soak in water, as they made of chips, while plywood is the actual wood piece that will have less 'swelling' effect.

Nowadays it depends a lot of the source of it, as there are manufacturers using rubberwood, palm tree, even coconut tree to mix in between which make it less durable. Price wise between real forest timber log with coconut tree mixed one can be a lot, but ordinary consumer won't able to know it.

As what Cherroy had explain, plywood is more long lasting than compress wood as its made by timber log. Anyhow, it still depends alot on the source of the wood, which consumer won't easily know the difference. My hubby's family was in this furniture business for more than 20yrs, they always prefer plywood cabinet and so do their customers smile.gif

There are hundred of types of timber species, some timber can last 50 years without problem, some only can last short term only.

Price wise can de different totally, even up to 2x.

There are some plywood made of coconut and palm oil tree one as well lately which is not that lasting, but price wise is way cheaper than medium hardwood type of plywood.
