Have started a thread for B&W owner's.. wondering if there is someone that wanna join in here and have some discussion on their B&W's??

By the way, was thinking if someone own's the B&W CM9 or the 804S?

Hi RevStormBringer,

First of all, thank you so much for creating this thread so that all B&W and non-B&W customers can discuss and learn from each other including myself. haha.

Anyway, on your query i would like to highlight that according to specification, the amplification required to drive the CM9 and 804s is 30W-200W and 50W-200W respectively. In another words, the speakers can be driven with pretty low amplification but in terms of the sound, details, imaging etc, i would suggest you to do some audition before making any decision.

From our own showroom, we will be hooking up to both the Classe and Arcam amplification which both behave very differently and the characteristic of both are also different as well as the price positioning. Meanwhile, please do keep a look out on our showroom opening and do drop by for an audition.

Hi rx330,

We will keep all posted once it is in and when the pricing has been firmed up. In terms of the retail pricing, i would like to highlight that it will be a Pan-Asia pricing and that the difference will be mainly from the local duties and taxes.

Thanks for your enquiry.

Regards,
Henry

Added on October 21, 2009, 12:47 amHi all,

Just a note to inform that the limited edition B&W Signature Diamond will be on display and audition when our showroom open.

B&W 602 S3 is quite an old model but sound quality is superb. I am not surprised to see it's priced at Rm 1k, in fact this is about the standard market price for a used pair in UK.

The one on the left could be a refurbished one as mine's is exactly as shown on the right hand side picture, and so far i have not seen any 602 s3 has a crossover like the ones in the left picture.

Added on June 14, 2011, 8:21 pmAgain this model is like 10 yrs old if not mistaken, I would still believe the one you found Rm 1k is a refurbished set as I do not think a seller would keep a new speaker for 10 yrs without using it .

Indeed bro Milzer is true! Budget 5k for front speakers or full 5.1 speakers? You could consider getting a used set but dont you worry about the sound quality, used B&W but in great condition ones may still produce a good quality of sound compare to some new speakers which I personally noticed!

He was given special price due to opening day of the shop (if I'm not mistaken)..I've sold my HTM62 for only RM1k (still in excellent condition)...the new price for this center should be around RM1.8k -RM2k....hiway laser is selling B&W ...try over there...gud luck bro...hope this info will help you a bit....cheers

When i was in oversea I used to own a pairs of 602 S3 powered by Rotel RSX 1056. I then demoed a pair of CM1 using the same receiver and felt that, despite less efficient, CM1's sound is more refined than 602 S3, especially in high frequency. Now back in Malaysia, i am starting from zero again. Looking for 685 in the next year or so...

You could save some money by using sea shipping. I am not sure about tax, but I know a shipping company in UK who provides door to door delivery and based on past my experience, most of the used item were delivered and reached Malaysia safely without any tax.

Nice speakers! Any chance of you posting some pix of them and your current setup?

Some American CM users have used a receiver and power amp combo, apparently to great effect. This dude is using a midrange Onkyo with a planned upgrade with for a Rotel power amp. Emotiva amps apparently combine well with the CM series as well and I think one of the sifu forumers is offloading his XPA3. Maybe you can grab tat to combine with your 819 for now?
http://www.blu-ray.com/community/gallery.php?member=spaceape

Other Brit users combine a Pioneer LX83/82s with their CMs, see below:

You got cherry or black? Pioneer should to be a fine choice, but most overseas forumers eventually try to pair a power amp somewhere down the road. You considered the Arcam AVR500 Experts uses to demo their CMs?

congrats bro....nice choice for the amp and speakers....but would be better if you could audition it first with your speakers...as for myself, I have auditioned it with pioneer (entry level but modded with preout + 10 channel DIY power amp) and Marantz SR6003 + Rotel 1075 ( for front + center speaker).... one sure thing I can say is that this speaker really need a good amp to bring out the true meaning of the brand.... I only use Denon 1911 on which is too damn under power to drive the speakers but it still produce a nice sound for me.....its like having a good sports car but only drive in residential area.....just my 2 cents....cheers..

Thank you Sonerin for your feedback. I will pay a visit to B & W shop tomorrow to audition CM8 and 9. For me it will be for hifi setup in my room. I listen to some vocals/some blues/some Jazz/some pop and movie soundtracks. I think my current bookshelf( although sweet sounding) is too small for my room.I need just a little bit more bass to enjoy my music.

Any B&W CM series (the floorstanders) user mind to share their thought?

I have been quite happy with my B&W 700 series but recently considering to relocate to Shanghai after study, very reluctant to sell of my beloved speakers actually, but due to high shipping cost and high import tax in China, i might end up having to sell them off and get a new set in Shanghai, but I am well aware that 700 series is discontinue.

Would not be happy with 600 series, so CM series would be at least something I would like to consider, which is also close to my budget but not sure about the performance if were to compare with B&W 700 series.

Any thought is absolutely welcome notworthy.gif

Hi All B&W Fans out there,

Moving from 700 series it's best yous start thinking of the 800 series as the CM might be just a parallel move for you laugh.gif

Thank  you Sonerin for your feedback. I will pay a visit to B & W shop tomorrow to audition CM8 and 9. For me it will be for hifi setup in my room. I listen to some vocals/some blues/some Jazz/some pop  and movie soundtracks. I think my current bookshelf( although sweet sounding) is too small for my room.I need just a little bit more bass to enjoy my music.

hi hokiman,
Maybe you can tell us your space size so I can suggest which would fit in nicer and still sound great in your room.

I think i met you the other day, maybe you would like to consider to go for the 804 Diamond (no upgrade after that) once and for all. cool2.gif

Hello there,

The 704, 705 and HTM7.

Selling them off would be my very last decision (if I had to) laugh.gif

In fact I might consider selling my 705 1st if I could get another pair of 704 to replace my surround drool.gif

Great..hope to see these technologies in the 800 series soon..and by then do add dipoles models, preferably switchable.

Frankly, i dont give a sh*t if the tweeter is made from the rarest of the rarest earth materials or from furthest outer space alien technologies so long it sounds damn good for the money. After all, if these rare materials are really in significant quantities, then the speakers should be sold from the goldsmith shops instead and TEG needs to get at least a few heavily armored vehicles standing by at the shop for any unwanted robbery or for any other shops that carry them laugh.gif

No offence to B&W nor TEG but merely a joke instead, if it's a dry one and keep up the good work, B&W Group.

Hi All B&W fans and owners out there,

This is a "Did you know" session started by the distributor of B&W Speakers Malaysia to the fans out there.

Did you know that when someone buys Bowers and Wilkins speakers, you get free subscription to the famous Society of Sound forum?
This is an initiative that only B&W speaker owners get when they buy the speakers.
Talking about Hi-Res 24bit/32bit files that required you to normally pay premium top get them, now it's free for B&W owners out there.

That's what others say good speakers, match with good source would be heavenly.

Hi adriantsk,
What i can say here would be the only thing the Nautilus™ 800 series and the current 800 Series Diamond shared would be the looks externally.
Everything else, is been re-engineered from the ground up to where it is currently.

All these are done with the ever-famous "The University of Sound" R&D facility in West Sussex, England. Technology came out of this R&D facility and also as industry first would be the "Nautilus™ Tweeter technology" in all of B&W speakers up to date, Flowport™ dimples on the bass reflex port, Kevlar/FST driver™ on the mid drivers just to name a few. hmm.gif
This is all the scientific name, but to us who appreciate Hi Fi quality sound, it's how the overall sound "feeling alive" as if someone is really performing in front of you.

No doubt all the speakers in the market, i would say they are good speakers. Including a cheap RM 20 speakers you find in hypermarkets. Because speakers are design to play music (vocal included), unless the speaker can't play any music, then i would say it's bad speakers.

Looking at it, yes B&W speakers demands a premium to own them, as they invest heavily back into their R&D to come out with better product in the future.
Let's take example of watches here, a QQ brand watch (that is the cheapest good watch i only know out there) and a Rolex Watch. Why is there people wanting to buy a Rolex Watch if both the watches show the same time?

Coming back to your question, i would say the current 800 Series Diamond sounds much better than the Nautilus™ 800 series, improvement on the overall sound in the highs, mids and lows with much improved drivers and crossovers inside the speaker.
Attached Image

In best match for power, it is really up to individual to pair with amplifier makers out there.
A good rule of thumb would be - listen to the characteristic of the amplifier sound, and awards for product also recognise to be good in the hands of the pro who have tested them.

I believe video will explain slightly better than i do:
B&W 800 Series Diamond overall series introduction

I hope that answers your question. notworthy.gif

Hi guys,

Time for additional info for all B&W owners and fans out there:

Did you know that B&W uses a meterial called Kevlar® for most of their Mid/Mid Bass drivers?
This is the industry first, and it has been around since 1974 for B&W production speaker models.

Since some time now, B&W have increase the effectiveness of improving the sound with a technology called FST™(Fixed Suspension Transducer), and with the industry revolution Kevlar® on top of it, it produces a highly accurate sounding Mid frequencies.
B&W once again come up with a better technology, with the help of their own R&D facility, which is the world famous "University of Sound".
Video on this technology can be found on FST™/Kevlar® Mid driver
Attached Image

It used to be available only for the flagship line of speakers, but now it's available in the entry level 683 model floor-standers.
Come and have a listen to Bowers & Wilkins speakers today.

Give us a call at 03-79568989 or drop by our showroom in Jaya One for more info.
Cheers.

This is a "did you know" session again.

Did you know Kevlar® has been Bowers & Wilkins’ cone material of choice since 1974, and with good reason? shocking.gif
Not only does it deliver a cleaner sound, it can do so to a wider group of listeners.
The distinctive yellow cones are found on almost all Bowers & Wilkins loudspeakers.

Watch the video Kevlar driver video
Another "first" in the industry of loudspeakers manufacturing.
Kevlar® is also another "magic" recipe in making bullet proof vest. hmm.gif

Hi all B&W fans and owners out there,

Did you know why B&W speakers air reflex port have dimples on them?

Bowers & Wilkins’s Flowport™ minimises turbulence in the same way as a golf ball.
Dimples on the surface generate tiny eddy currents over which air can flow smoothly and, above all, silently. It’s a perfect hole.
Attached Image
Another first in the industry, and a trademark technology from Bowers and Wilkins speakers.
Initially design for the flagship 800 series, now it's even available on Zeppelin Air and other entry level products.
Watch the video on Flowport

Cheers.
Have a greay week enjoying music!

Hi All B&W speaker owners and fans out there.

Recently, Bowers and Wilkins speakers launch a newly re-designed Panorama Sound Bar, called the Panorama 2.
Attached Image
Design for people who like an all in one set up, with limited space and neatly displayed for a Hi-Fi quality sound from one device.
Featuring 3 HDMI connection input and 1 output.

The outstanding thing is, this new model features proximity-sensitive display.
Leave it alone and it fades to black. But wave your hand over the display and you can instantly control Panorama 2’s menus directly.
All these are done through the research of the famous "University of Sound" R&D facility special to Bowers and Wilkins speakers.
Do check them out at Panorama 2 page

Another great product from Bowers and Wilkins product in the market currently.
We are open for pre-booking.

For more information, please drop by our showroom in Jaya One, PJ or Pm me.
Will be glad to be a help to you.

Thanks.

At a live gig, a truly powerful, clean PA system will deliver bass with a drive and ‘punch’ that gets the blood pumping and sets the senses on fire. It’s hard to get that same excitement from a home hi-fi, but ensuring the mechanical integrity of the bass driver is essential to the pursuit. Bowers & Wilkins’ bass drivers use a ‘mushroom’ type diaphragm construction, maximising rigidity by bonding the cone, dust cap and extended voice coil bobbin into a stiffening girder-like unit.

Another technology used in the current line up of B&W loudspeakers.

Ever wondered, why some Big brand in automotive industry doesn't have nice speakers inside them to boast?
From 2013 onwards, Bowers and Wilkins speakers would be available in Maserati cars.

Announced at the Paris Motor Show 2012, Bowers & Wilkins and Maserati begin a long-term partnership producing new high-end car audio systems built from the ground up and featuring in Maserati cars from 2013.

Now that is what I called listening to a wonderful growl of a Ferari's engine in Maserati Cars, while listening to awesome music inside them.

Hi nicholostan,
Unfortunately, the cheapest B&W bookshelf speakers would be around RM 2,000 for a pair. Called the B&W 686 bookshelf speakers.
Typically an AV amplifier would be from the price point of RM 1,500 and above.

In your budget, try getting some HT in a box set up (5.1 set up). I believe that would be a better start, as the level beyond will never end whistling.gif
(some called it poison)
Hope that helps.

Hi All B&W fans and owners out there,

Recently B&W just launched an entirely wireless hi fi quality music system, powered by audiophile-grade Bowers & Wilkins technology. It’s quite simply the best-sounding system in its class. Something the market don't have at the moment.
Attached Image
Called the A5 and A7 (bigger in size and power), this is something sleek and modern looking speaker around in the market currently.

"If you want AirPlay and want awesome sound, the A7 demands your attention. But in a subtly styled way." What Hi-Fi - November 2012
A7 review by What Hi Fi UK

Come and have a try in our showroom in Jaya One. Also can be used as a Multi Room set up.
Cheers.

dang... didn't saw your notice on the sale...

just recently bought myself a pair of 684s...was it apart of the sale?

want to ask (not considering sound signature) if the 684 speaker posts are better suited to use banana plugs or spades?? i somehow feel that the banana plugs are getting crushed if i lock it on too tightly...

if you are serious... you should aim for a pair of 685's... the 685 sounds much better compared to the 686 but is priced not too far off...

personally.. the 685 is quite good with slow warmish type of music.. pop and rock it will still do but i feel there might be something better although i seldom listen to those... the 685 is also able to reproduce sufficient low end to my taste for such a decent sized cabinet... and it doesn't sound boomy placed close to the walls...

RM1.5k for sure if not going to be enough... the integrated amp alone would eat up most of that let alone your speakers which is way past that...than you might have to consider your source or if you have a USB digital out capable DAP, you might consider getting a DAC in between...

better think twice bro... this is not the same as your IEMs..

won't that get him addicted much faster and want more?

if av receivers are of concern.. i also think he should spend more and get the more midrange ones with dac built in... it might not be top end DACs.. but it will at least let him output his digital audio player to the receiver for playback in case he has some high res flac files...

i think even some of the integrated amps of today might have a usb digital input...

Bro, on your 684, you are using with what amplifer?
Use something like a 100w amplifier and above to really bring out the full potential of the sound of the speaker. 684 is not a fussy speaker, but the range of power input options are huge, from 25- 150W.

On connection, it doesn't make any difference between banana or spade, however Banana connection is the more well known type of connection in the market. It is also easier to remove if needed to, but do be careful on certain brands as after some time, their banana connection will become lose.
it's very hard to be crushed, but i do agree that some brands banana connector tip can be softer than normal to cut cost and along those line.

Yes, the 684 was previously on sale during the promotion. Not anymore tongue.gif
Hope you are enjoying it, are you using for AV or stereo Hifi? Or both?

Personally i like banana plug more. Is convinient. So far the connector had been very good in term of fitting the banana plug from speaker cable. I believe most of the model should be the same more or less. Of course if the banana plug is some cheap one then you will feel it does not fit nicely as i tried before. Now using XLO cable with the original banana plug, is all fit nicely

i think i'm an idiot... i was corrected by a friend yesterday that the red and black plastic tabs can be pulled off the binding posts... initially i tried that and it didn't budge at all and i was afraid trying to pry it off might damage the binding posts and there was not much of mentioning on the manual as well...

i am currently unscrewing and clamping it where you insert unterminated cables which i thought could not be right as B&W couldn't be making such poorly designed products..i'll give his suggestion a try and re-look at it again...

i am currently running an entry level amp with 45wpc... cambridge azur 350a more accurately... planning for a KI-Pearl-Lite later on... should be outputting 90wpc per channel @ 6ohms if i am not wrong... listed as 70W @ 8...i bought the speakers first so i can use the amp to fine tune the sound signature i want to achieve later... 45w is still OK and i could put it at around 10 - 11 o'clock on the volume pot and it sounds already quite loud...

now planning for a DAC and then a audio player... this one still researching my options...

you are killing me...did the 684 creep down below RM4k during the sale?? didn't know you were the distributor for B&W... haiihh bad timing...

if fact, i initially planned to audition the 685s and my plan was to get the 685s with a dual sub configuration... sounds nuts.. but then i change my mind after listening to the 684 and the costs of 685s + stand + a single sub blows past the 684...i might still get the sub later on but the low end is already nice and deep enough for me at this point...

i am enjoying it of course... about 60-70 hours into run in now and the sound has smoothen out... i am into stereo but also use the stereo for watching movies as it is all placed together with my TV and everything...

yeah.. banana is the best and most universally acceptable plugs... somehow.. .some people like spades because they think it's a sturdier connection... but the banana's self expand within the binding post which by right should be more than enough as far as contact pressure is concerned...

yeah, of course... i mean comparing say maybe a banana vs. a spade from the same brand and same material.. some people prefers a spade over a banana plug...

i was at one point considering trying a set of furutech fp-201 rhodium spades..but thought that was too much to spend on terminating a cable... and i will need 2 sets for a pair... i gave up at the end...

i trust it's a good cable... i read somewhere that multicore cables actually outperform large gauge cables hence i went with kimber... might think of higher grade ones later once i get my amp upgraded...i heard 12tc has to be custom ordered as it is too thick to stick into the connectors...

anyways... have to run in my 684 for a longer period and see if there is further changes to the sound before i go further with any other things

Yes butthead,
Let your 684 run in first, so that the sound opens up more before deciding your next step up.
Cheers.

Does your room sound slightly boomy?
Is that why you are using the foam bugs?
Let me know to see how i can help you with that.

Yes, that is one of the issues.

My room isn't exactly a room. It is actually my living room where i have a big window pane on one side and the other opens up into the dining area.

Hence, i do not have an ideal setup to begin with. My speakers are also placed fairly close to the wall especially the back. Just slightly under half a meter away from the wall measuring the rear ports and close to a meter away from the side wall (a big piece of glass actually)

With a lot of open space the sound should not be boomy unless too close to wall

unfortunately... open space is not the luxury i have..haha

i was a bit weary of the rear firing ports when i bought the 684.. but i thought quite much of the low end might have been handled by the lower driver / front port being a 2.5way design..

there'll be ways... just need more experimenting with positioning... trying to toe in and everything now...

my friend recomended me the asi phase corrector and diffuser to lessen the problem and the sugarcubes on the glass pane to dampen the sound reflecting off the glass... but i am quite sceptical about it...

i am not expecting anything anyways which is why i am playing with the setup only instead of pouring in more money...

the problem with acoustic treatment money aside is that the stuff used is usually hard to integrate into a normal living area... not having a symetric listening area is a problem that i doubt it will solve completely

Here comes a trick,
Try to use everyday stuff to absorb some sound.
Things like carpet/rug, Fabric sofa, cotton material stuff (even our clothes) will absorb sound wave.
Also if you have marble floor, that would reflect sound. Wood based will absorb sounds slightly.

hope that helps.

Half a meter at the back should be ok. Put the half bugs (that comes with your speakers anyway) into the back bass reflex port that would help withe the overal sound, as this is to make the front port work more. Cover the back to not create the artificial bass reflecting from the wall.

Big Glass does not help as it reflects sound, but if you have a curtain, then that would help tongue.gif
Try them and let me know whether it controls down the response in your room.

Cheers.

thanks for the suggestion, both. i do have curtains inplace. will try changing to thicker ones come cny.

i do have hard flooring, carpets are quite hard to maintain for me due to dust in my place... and i have my rear ports fully plugged currently with the front left open and both speakers toeing in slightly... sounds best to me at the moment...

well, lets see how things go...

yeah, maybe once i can get everything to work in harmony...

i was planning to go el-cheapo on the sub when i eyed a value for money velodyne impact 10"...10" front facing and down firing port...

very budget one and only has spring clip speaker wire connections for high pass inputs and the standard RCA inputs... worst is they have no power switch...

still far ahead.. plan to get a network audio player first... was hunting the Marantz NA-7004 but afraid they are coming out with a new one for 2013... so, i am holding my horses on that too... hopefully they increase file format supports to include ALAC, AAC and AIFF on the new unit as the current one lacks this...

saw that TEG has this Olive music servers but those are similarly as expensive as Naim Uniti... totally out of reach...

(little M1 speakers worshiping the 800 Diamond)

Di you know that the M1 is created using the 800 Diamond as a reference point? For the sound reproduction that is.
And a lot of speakers in the industry are created using the B&W 800 Diamond as a reference point.

Just bought a pair of PM1 recently and driving it with Arcam A38 amp. Lovely! Don't be fool with the size of any small bookshelf. Given the right size of the listening room, a bookshelf can be a winning choice for taut bass and sweet midrange and soothing top frequency. I strongly suggest anyone to try out PM1 first. Need more earthquake-kind f bass, match one with PV1D.

the 686 lacks the lower reach of the 685 in my opinion and it sounds nice if you like slightly warmish material...

Hi Kaihui,

I have the same set up in TEG's showroom in Jaya One, PJ. You got a good set up my friend!
but do consider bi-wiring the PM1, with solid core cable. Makes a huge difference in the performance i can promise you that.

PM1 speakers on itself is already producing surprising amount of bass from the little speaker.
Hope you are enjoying your set up.

Cheers.

Once you listen to the 685, you will like them better than the 686. Need to mention that 686 on itself is already very very good small bookshelf speakers.

Unless space is an issue to you, then revert to 686. If not, 685 is the best bet.

physically... i don't think the size or at least the width of the 685 and 686 is so much difference that it affects space... wouldn't the speaker stand base itself be wider than the width of the bookshelf itself?

The main difference externally is the speaker cone size and port direction.
While the 686 is having a rear firing port, you can't put them next to the wall as that would create a boomy bass. While the 685 is front firing bass reflex port.

There are pro and cons for both set up, but use it to your advantages, that is the only thing i would say this time around thumbup.gif

It won't be a very huge difference, but it still makes quite a bit of performance difference.
But yes, once you listen to 685, you don't want to listen to the 686.

Hi Hamil,
Hunting for 804D will be a challenge, even more to hunt for B&W speakers.
Also a used good B&W value will still remain for a long time.

On another hand, 804D speakers are quite in demand, as the size is for moderate room.

buying stuff and shipping back here is always a challenge not to mention the risks.... customs is malaysia has been known to be inconsistent in applying rules...

furthermore, if you are buying anything off the country.. if you find problems with it... you will be stuck without having the ability to get it warrantied... not to say that there will be problems, but as i say.. it might be a risk...

and B&W has 3 years warranty if i am not wrong?

Hi butthead,

B&W speakers carry a 5 years warranty for passive speakers (those speakers that needs amplifiers), while active speakers carry a 2 years warranty from the date of purchase.

From my experience, had a customer doing that (shipping from other country in). End up he paid more than what he can get locally at the end with the hidden cost of import tax, shipping, insurance etc. Which he regreted.

Further more, his speakers came in with damage Diamond tweeters (tweeter smashed), which repairs end up to be about additional RM 8k++

Yes, he would. As B&W Speakers always believe that getting it from the local distributor also have an extra hands for support. Despite the taxes, i can say the Malaysian price are very close to Europe country prices (as i have checked).
Which is a fair deal really.

Compared to cars comparison prices against other countries, that is a different story.

anyways, speakers are not spoiled so easily... but better to have an option than not especially you don't really save massively...

Hi All B&W fans and owners out there,

Just to share out that B&W speakers have a tie-up with Maserati cars from 2013 onwards.
Attached Image
Most car manufacturers make cars. Maserati creates legends. For nearly a century, the trident marque has been a symbol of uncompromising automotive excellence. So when the engineers at Maserati wanted to find an acoustic partner to design an audio system for their new luxury saloon, there was only ever one choice. Introducing the Maserati Quattroporte premium surround system from Bowers & Wilkins. Extraordinary sound. For an extraordinary car.

2 great brands in their own field, working with each other.

Yeap. I do agree with what Raj says. Its a matter of local support if you were to buy fom local authorized retail showroom.

Always could get support from them, rather to send back the speakers to overseas to claim warranty. smile.gif

Hi Kirsten,
The P3 blue is now available in our showroom in Jaya One, PJ.

Compared the P3 blue, and the other P3 available, it sounds the same.
Means it' only a different finish available as this is a quite popular model in the market currently.
Good part- it is the same price as the black and the white.

Saw someone on the street yesterday wearing them, quite cool i would say.
Anyway, the P3 Blue is suppose to be available from May onwards, but we got it available earlier than expected brows.gif

Still waiting for the release dates for Asia for those 2 products.

On going promo, got!
We run monthly promo for HT system.

For new media product (zeppelin, AirPlay speaker, headphones), it normally sells on itself brows.gif
But do drop by and have a listen. Then we can try to reach for agreement. tongue.gif

i was jus joking lar Raj...4,5 or 6HD also i can't afford la...it is just too expensive although i long to own a music streamer...

the one i could afford is the Cambridge Audio NP30 but i realize it could not handle certain file formats. Olive is great in that area but out of reach in terms of price like the Naims.

I will get one though if i kena lottery (with or without lottery)

First of all, where are you wanting to get the Zeppelin Mini from?
I am clearing them in my showroom. Only limited unit available currently.

Second,
It it worth the money you say?

With the clearance promo, i would say yes.
Zeppelin Mini is design to play Ipod/Iphone in a small/moderate room (places like bedroom and other small living area) very nicely, with good definition of music digitally. The fact that it can still be used as a docking station (means if you plug it into USB to your computer, it still sync to your Itunes) as well as external speakers for your computer.

If you are thinking of buying as a gift, that would be possible too.
And if you have fear of it not working with the new Iphone 5, i have customer who have them and it works perfectly with the standard converter from Apple stores.
Hope that helps.

Cheers.

As you said, if you want something to play both the ipod docking arm and the laptop, i say get the Zeppelin Air, as it does accept more than 3 types of input with only one device. Eg it accept the Apple 30pin dock-that support with the converter for the ip5, airplay, USB input playback as external speaker, also accepts a 3.5mm headphone plug/mini TOSLInK connection. I see that as more than enough for your usage.

And it is a piece of design anyway.
That is why this Zeppelin Air is an icon, as well as the best selling docking station in the market currently.
Hope that helps.
Cheers
