Got a pair of Bowers & Wilkins 606 and paired it with a Menthor Integra, seasoned Russian tubes and Bose Soundlink for Spotify connectivity.

Yup. It’s the new Continuum cones. The speakers are currently being seasoned and broken into. I am going to use this 14 days RMO to get my listening hours in.

The amp used does make a difference. I am using vacuum tube amps and the sound is a lot warmer. The bass is mild but that’s the characteristics of tube amplifiers.

I left it on for 100 hours and it now sounds a lot more warmer and organic than when it was new. The mid range is superb. I don’t find it lively at all contrary to most reviewers. Bass is a little weak but that’s because of the amps used.

I was very surprised that the speakers have no problem picking up the high notes like the triangle pinging softly amidst the full blown orchestra in the background in Romeo and Juliet Suite : Montagues and Capulets by the Chicago Symphonic Orchestra (Prokofiev). Most speakers won’t be able to pick up the signal at all. Some very high end speakers would but very faintly in the background.

Even when the volume is turned down very low, the speakers still exhibit the complete range of frequencies and instruments in the test song (used Hotel California from the live album Hell Freezes Over as the testing benchmark).

Yes, vacuum tube with these speakers work well. Good to burn-in, sometimes it takes longer than expected...

Enjoy! thumbup.gif
