Kuala Lumpur LYN Charity Unit

My Aim is Simple, to have an organized charity activities which are more concentrated in KL Areas while sometimes i do go for Selangor for Charity activities, this "Unit" or whatever name you like to called it will be organizing charity event in a monthly basis with some of the orphanage and old folks home with purpose of donation either in monetary form or other way whichever deemed suitable. The next activities will be on November and hopefully i can gather enough people to go with me on a monthly basis.

Plant Visit To Pure Life Societies

Suggested Date : 22nd November 2009
Location : Pure Life Societies Batu 6 Jalan Puchong
Time : 12 P.M
Meeting Location : BH Petrol Beside Plaza Prima

This Plant Visit was intended to hand over donation of various form to the orphanage as well as visit the orphanage to developed an understanding as to what are the development of the orphanage and of course what can we contribute to their development. Currently planning to conduct computer literacy training for the kids in order to educate them on how to use computers while at the same time have fun in the process, this can only be done after the plant visit to talk with the orphanage management as to how and what can we do for these children in this training. I am sorry for this late reply but however i am still waiting for the orphanage reply regarding the plant visit, but however for donation purposes, the plan is still on going, the confirm date is as stated above. I will wait for few days for them to reply, if there is no reply then we will go ahead to hand in the donation to the orphans while we walk around and take a de tour around the orphanage and at the same time talk with their people regarding any help if needed.

i shall update you guys in one week times...sorry for the late reply and thank you for the interest

Hmm... Are we just hand over those donation to them then that's it? Perhaps we can do some other meaningful activities to them?

Nope, we are going to slowly progress in working together with the orphanage management to see what other things we can do beside handing in donation, but however this coming trip we might just hand in donation and then have a talk with the president and then try to organize something. i am proposing that we help in their computer literacy training for the kids, but however on that date we are going to discuss more with the management there to add in more activities.

Yes definitely. Here are the latest update, Since we have some great response from fellow Members, i suggest we first have a meeting one day prior going to the orphanage thus i will now announce the waiting point and time for this coming event, hope everyone will join in.

* Since we will meet one day in advance before moving to Pure life thus the date for our meeting will schedule as followed, the purpose of the meeting will be to discuss among ourselves what are the expertise and skills that individual would be able to provide for the group and what are the further activities that we can carried out for the orphanage as well as to get to know each other before moving in, we work as a team.

Originally it is but however in order for us to have a better understanding of each other and what we had in our mind, i think it is better for us to meet up one day prior the visit thus the visit date had been change as stated above hope you all will be able to join in the meeting

It is a good idea to meet up earlier before we go, can we meet earlier (eg: one week before or few days) so that we can exchange idea on what to donate to them... I afraid all of us will bring the same item, haha....

Maybe I have three people from my side... how many people that we actually have?

To make things convenient for many, i choose the meeting on Weekend so that the turnout rate could be higher, i think discussion for items and ideas. one fine day is good enough, after all we also need to listen to what Pure life have to said on this before we proceed any further.

I'm glad to visit Pure life society and i love the concept of "Temple of the universal spirit" That's just peace and so much love i can feel on the top of the hill with the Temple and the garden.

hello. i'm interested in volunteering. i'm on school holidays now for about 9 months awaiting uni. just started driving. i dont money / things to donate, only my time.

i'm not good at entertaining people haha!! but i can try..

BasketBall Coaching

The orphanage now is looking for a basketball coach after having a new basketball field. Now i would like to recruit a basketball coach for the orphans. The requirement of the coach is as followed

1. Had certain level of knowledge on basketball playing and rules- excellent knowledge would be good
2. Willing to commit himself or herself for once or twice a week

That is the qualification that i need, for transportation purpose i can make the arrangement. Of course if u need a partner to teach, i am always ready to help by. For those interested kindly reply here or PM me with your name and contact number, thank you

1. Computer Tutors

Currently the orphanage has a number of computers but however there is no tutor to teach the children to operate or play with the computers thus the orphanage is now looking for a person who meets the following requirement :

- Had qualification on IT would be preferred or someone who had other qualification but are keen to do his homework to accommodate for the teaching of the children

- Willing to commit himself to the orphanage to teaching of children for at least one complete course of computing learning would be excellent.

- Had knowledge on setting up of computer lab

If you do meet the requirement kindly PM me with your Real name and contact number, if you do not have the transport please make an arrangement with me If you need a partner or helper to help you out i am ready to help you

2. Experienced Counselor

Currently some of the orphans there are behaving negatively due to their poor family background, some are from broken families while others are under privilege making them behave negatively and seems to lose hope in life thus results in poor academic performance and not being able to discipline themselves. Thus the orphanage would like to have volunteer from Experienced Counselor to guide the children, if you have meet the following requirement please do not hesitate to contact me :

- At least 2 years experience in counseling preferably children

- Willing to commit himself to the orphans

- Friendly and approachable personality

For this position you might be required to come in at a time at your convenience but however on a regular basis E.g 3-5 times a week. If you are willing to commit kindly PM me with your Real name and contact number so that an interview could be arrange, for this position the orphanage is willing to compensate you with payment which are to be discuss later

3. Child Facilitator

Currently the society is having problem of insufficient caretaker to the children, thus the orphanage would like to hire a number of caretaker in which they called Housemother, if you are happy with the requirement below kindly PM me with your real name and contact number

- Retired Person Preferably Women

- Happy to deal with children and care for children

- At least have a Diploma, this is to ensure that the children will be care for under a caretaker who can instill education value to children under her care.

- Willing to work on shift ( Morning 12 pm- 8 pm Shift) , (Night 8pm- 8am Shift)

- For this position the orphanage is willing to paid you a salary if you are selected

KDSF “TOGETHER WE ACHIEVE ” Annual Food & Fun Fair
In Aid of Down Syndrome
Sunday 26th September 2010, 11am - 4 pm.

The Kiwanis Down Syndrome Foundation-National Centre is organizing its Annual Food Fun Fair on Sunday 26th September 2010 to help raise funds to maintain its operations. For your information, the Centre is a non-profit organization which provides special education for children with Down Syndrome. We currently have 130 children with Down Syndrome enrolled at the Centre and require to raise at least RM650,000 each year in order to maintain our operations. We hope that this charity Food & Fun Fair will be able to meet a portion of our costs.

We are therefore writing this letter to appeal for assistance and /or participation in various forms from companies and individuals.

These are the ways we require assistance:

A. DONATION IN KIND:

donation of products we can sell eg souvenir items, toys, cups, photo-frames, cosmetic jewellery, household items, bags, second-hand books, food stuff etc
donation of prizes eg small electrical items, toys, household items (eg crockery carpets, rugs, plants, pots), souvenir items, T-shirts, bags, hampers, artworks, stationery items, food stuff viz. packets of biscuits; can food (please ensure expiry dates no earlier than 1 January, 2011) - cost of prizes may range from RM5 to RM200.
provision of food for sale eg fried chicken, mee rebus, cakes and biscuits and other food items
donation of drinks – canned drinks, mineral water, bottled drinks
Purchase or help sell RM10 worth of coupons to distribute among friends and co-workers/employees.

B. DONATION IN CASH:

We also welcome cash donations to the Fun Fair to help alleviate costs of the event. Cash donations (RM100 and above) will be issued with tax-exempt receipts.

Donations above RM 5000 will also be issued with Certificates of Appreciation.


C. DONATION OF SERVICES: VOLUNTEERS

Individual Volunteers and groups of volunteers who are employees from companies may like to participate and help us in specific activities at the KDSF Annual Food & Fun Fair. For groups of volunteers from companies, the exercise may be used as a company social activity and contribution to society.
Volunteers to help manage game stalls
Volunteers to provide entertainment in form of dance performance, clowns, DJ, etc
Volunteers to help sell coupons which are worth RM10 each.

Added on October 17, 2011, 4:12 pmAfter month and months of working, the activity is almost stop. Which i am deeply sorry, we had successfully contact the center below:

RUMAH ANAK-ANAK YATIM SHIFA

The orphanage are in need of Food stuff, particularly Rice, Cooking Oil, Chicken meat, Eggs.

We are targeting to raise RM1500 and used it to supply the food that is mention above, we look forward for donation and will used the money collected to purchase food for them from the grocery shops.

Please PM if you are keen to support this orphanage. Once the target donation had reach then we will visit the center and deliver the goods to them.
