Guys, is it true that the 100hz/200hz/1232170512hz refresh rate is just a gimmick ? From my observation, there's no difference between 60hz lcd tv and 100hz tv

Im looking for a new lcd tv and wanted to get the 100hz tv but the difference in price is too big.

Oh and one more thing, new plasma tvs can connect to PC with 1920 x 1080 resolution right ? I read somewhere that plasma is not recommended if u want to connect it to a pc because the resolution is lower or something like that. But that was few years back
