LED TV = LCD TV

OLED TV is not LED TV.

True or real LED dsplay are those giant display like you see at i-City, even at that size they are hardly HD resolution. It doesnt have light bleeds like LED TV.

Want to ask whether its worth to buy uhd tv now n does it support normal hd movie. tq
*
No, just wait a little longer for future proof features.

4k tv does support 1080p, some highend bd player already can upscale bluray 1080p to 4k .

Currently only 1 tv and 2 projectors are hdmi 2.0 compliant. Hdmi 1.4b as limited bandwidth where 4k resolution playback is limited to 30hz only , 2160p@50/60hz unsupported. (Hdmi 1.4b)

Panasonic Viera TH-L42E6K vs Samsung UA46F6300

which one better?

Purpose: Movies main priority smile.gif

Id go for the samsung for better contrast ratio and better dark room performance. Better blacks + screen uniformity.

is this how does your tv look like?? this is my dead bravia btw... go get a new tv!

Dead lcd panel. Try not to place your tv too close to AC or anywhere with rapid humidity change, and also direct sunlight.

Hey guys,

Just wanted to check, is backlight bleed common for edge lit LED TV's ?

got a Sharp 39" and i could see cloudy spots around the edge of the TV when it's pitch black.

should i be worrying ? or its just a common problem?

Cheers
*
Yes, they are very common. The degree varies from brands to models. Direct lit led tv has better uniformity or very little clouding, but bleeding is still there.

not bacause of lcd fluid leak???  drool.gif

same thing, layers that make up the lcd container separates. physical abuse also can damage the layers like those with bigger or single pixel like active 3d glasses, if you drop them hard black blots of the liquid crystal can be seen.

is it worth to replace a LCD panel?

no. they cost more than a new tv. Panel+Tcon board+service charge

If it was a backlight LED failure it would be repairable if your sony uses direct led.

From the screen shot, image looks WARPED horizontally so its obviously NOT the LED fault. Its more like a failed Tab bonding (loose tab connects to the LCD panel) or a failed T-con board, unfortunately neither is repairable, basically this fault needs a panel and tcon board replacement.

thqnk meaculpa for the explanantion, eventho' i d not know whats is T-con board, basicaslly how much the cost to repair?i believe the warranty is no longer valid cos its more than 2 years edi and sending to sony service centre would cost me bombs i guess.
*
Most likely the bonding on the tab becomes loose, it cant be repaired. Its termal bonded, can only be fixed at factory facility.

New tv i guess.

Hi all

Can anyone suggest me the best 60" plasma below RM4k?
My shortlist now is samsung plasma PA60H5000. Any comment on this model?
*
Great reviews on the uk model, but 64" H5000

Quite bright at 115 cd/m2.

Very good blacks at 0.0016 fL or 0.0056 cd/m2.

Native contrast ratio is about 115/0.0056 = 20,000. Native contrast definately beats any high-end Edge LED TV in the market.

The only downside i think is its pentile matrix pixel orientation . it has 1080 vertical resolution, not 1920 horizontal tho slightly less, but really not a problem tho.

http://www.hdtvtest.co.uk/news/pn64h5000-201403143657.htm

In terms of motion ;

64H5000 will produce a perceptibly sharper image than just about any other display in this price range owed to the impulse driving inherent to plasma televisions (which interacts very well with the human visual system).

Anyone can recommend a good Plasma TV ?

Size 40 inch since putting a small room
*
You no longer can find full HD 1920 x 1080 42" plasma, the likes of panasonic 42U30k or S series.

Entry level plasma 43" like samsung F4000 is only 852 x 480 defination/ resolution.

For plasma id suggest getting at least 50-51" with full hd resolution, mid-end to high end models.

1024 x 768 resolution 50" entry level plasma is not great for bluray content, but good for Sd and astro.

For 40" full hd, only lcd led tv is viable.

42U30k still selling ?
I heard people discuss that plasma is more better to the eye compare to LED monitor.Watch 1 hour LED more tired vs 1 hour on Plasma ? .Is it true ?
*
For eye care depends how you watch. In a dark room, even at minimum brightness some LED is still just too bright. (depending on TV) Should be no problem with lights on.
