It's a beautiful place if you like nature - the scenery is fantastic. It's expensive place to visit but worth it.
Visited Golden Circle , South Shore, Glacier Lagoon, Snaefellsness peninsular and Blue Lagoon.

Was there end of Nov - days were short and it snowed two days b4 I left Iceland. It was cold - freezing wind.
Stay at Room with a View apartment in Reykjavik for 3 nights, and 3 different country hotels for 3 nights.

Took a private tour with a tour agency in Reykjavik as there were 12 of us. Very good and owner guide very informative - told history and everything about Iceland. (English Expat)

Had lobster feast in South shore, went for super jeep tour to Eyjafjallajökull glacier near the volcano which erupted recently, tried their buffet dinner at country hotels and The Perlan in Reykjavik.
Glacier Lagoon is awesome so is Blue Lagoon. thumbup.gif

From KUL to Lon STN - AirAsia X, London Gatwick to Reykjavik - Iceland Express.
Can use Euro at some places but prefer Credit Card or Iceland kroner.

Went in winter hoping to see the northern lights but did not see any

Might go again - got to save $$ and get a small group - cheaper.

Hope this is some help. When you intend to go?
Most important - get cheap airfare - plan way ahead.
Take tour in Iceland - plenty of travel agency to choose from. (single traveler or group - day tours from Reykjavik)

Well you can if you want to. biggrin.gif
Just prioritize yr spending - on the needs not the wants
Take 2, 3 or 4 years - make that dream come true. I presume you are still young.

This trip was part of 18 days England, Scotland and Iceland trip.
Iceland trip about RM6K exclude flight to STN
Food: can't remember tongue.gif ; some self prepared and some out; took along some tuna, noodles, sambal, etc

Exchange rate then: RM5.5/GBP; RM5/Euro. Rates are so much lower now.

5 months before the eruption. Part of it melted, so not sure how it looks now - caused massive flood, washing away a bridge.

I just saw this thread in here...was in Iceland earlier this year in March, part of a Euro backpacking trip I made. Landed in Reykjavik and travelled the southern reaches of the island all the way to Hofn. This place is really something unlike any other. There's a harsh untamed beauty to this land that simply cannot be captured by mere pictures, videos or words. And that's not even mentioning the northern lights. This is definitely a must on anyone's bucket list. (If u wanna have an idea of what it's like, play Skyrim biggrin.gif that's a very good approximation)
