Anyone know if the new Dell Studio XPS 16 supports switchable graphics -- between the core i5 graphics core and the ATi Radeon HD4670? If so, is it dynamic? Or we could select so that it can be either manual or dynamic?

QUOTE(Eugene91 @ Jan 20 2010, 09:37 PM) yea because of the Chipset.. The SXPS 16 would need to have a fullll refresh.. lol.. So, what chipset does the Dell Studio XPS 16 use? AFAIK, the HM57 or HM55 chipset should be able to pipe data from the core i5 IGP to the output interface. I've called Dell but they are unsure of the switchable graphics option. This can be a real deal-breaker for me if it isn't supported. So, any owner kind enough to provide some insight and also a screen shot of the "Mainboard" tab of cpu-z running on your laptop?

QUOTE(ian90 @ Jan 24 2010, 11:50 PM) Thanks. Just checking if the chipset actually supports switchable graphics. Turns out it's not possible. That's sad. Kind of weird for Dell to not include the HM55 chipset even though specs stated so on their site. Hopefully I'm wrong in this aspect but I've gone through numerous sites only to find out that PM55 chipset does not support switchable graphics.
