hi guys, i am buying a laptop soon, currently that tops my list is this XPS 16, but after all the customization.. its gonna cost me RM5.4k.. so appreciate if anyone could tell me which to take and not..

a) 16" RBGLED (any significant difference? a test shown that the black and red are over-saturation)
b) 4GB DDR3 RAM
c) 3years warranty + 3 year complete cover (neccessary?)
d) Intel Wifi Link 5300 (difference between 5100 and 5300?)

with this 4 upgrades, from 4k went up to whopping 5.4k.. hmm.gif hmm.gif

If you're a young healthy boy, NEVER put a laptop on your lap shakehead.gif  shocking.gif Unless u don't want...... brows.gif  laugh.gif

I think the heat issues caused by the previous ATI 3670 and not by the current 4670.Better ask 4670 owners here smile.gif
*
lol!, yea i was wondering the latest model is the heat issues rectified? hope to get some positive replies and i am good to go! tongue.gif

I somehow sense that these so called heat issues wouldn't really deter you from buying one  laugh.gif Heat issues isn't really an issue actually. Its a 4670,mid end GPU, and of course that's gonna really heat things up.That's when u really need a good cooler not to mention smile.gif
*
u are right, it wont deter me from buying, but it made me think twice, but then after customization, its gonna cost me around 5.3k, so have to really think properly b4 regretting =), how long approx the battery can last btw? biggrin.gif

i use wled, and i quite like it... well, for RGLED is better or not is subjective... those who like it say it's very nice and those who dont like it say the colour is over-saturated...i never use RGLED b4 so i cant coment on it...
*
owh, so as for the WLED, theres no over-saturated problems? only applies to RGBLED display?

around rm500 for another year, it is advice to take 3 yrs full warranty instead of one year than u extend it later, because it is much more expensive.

Like mine 3 yrs complete coverage, only add rm200
*
hey thunderbird, i plan to get this spec, since u got friends working inside DELL, mind to help me enquire the cheapest price for this spec?

16" RGBLED
4GB RAM
3 Years Warranty + 3 years CompleteCover

others remain as original spec. smile.gif

If u can wait.. there might be a Dell Studio XPS 1647 with Core i5(dual core and quad core) "maybe".. Im unsure about what the specs are but rumours are in Notebokreview(NBR).. They saw a BIOS update for 1647 biggrin.gif So if I were you i'd wait... Since the Arrandale series are released mid January.
*
the problem is i m being offered a very good deal for the current xps16 and just nice suit my budget, i am afraid the new models comes out with higher price tags and have to think twice again.
