Upgrade to Windows 7.

Ok everything was done, the only download that I left out was Dell WebCam Central.
Any idea where to find it?
Try to find it at Dell's Support but it wasn't there.

Try this.

Can somebody with a 320GB hard drive and Windows 7 installed tell me what's the total usable hard disk capacity listed under Windows Explorer? Mine's 297GB, the one and only partition.

I tried the "msconfig" to maximize the RAM to 4096MB but is still the same... everytime i restart the PC.. and i go to "msconfig" again. it show "0"(zero)
By the way, i'm using Studio XPS 16 DELL Laptop, and IN THE BIOS did not have Memory Remap stuff....

Anyone can solve this...??
I also did ask the same question in Technical Support : HERE
*
I didn't encounter any problems with RAM usage; try using Resource Monitor to check out the RAM usage/available capacity/installed RAM.

Thx a lot.. i already give up for this problem... look like no solution...
now is the webcam problem...
my old inspiron 1520 webcam video quality is much better than the current studio xps 16 webcam video quality
when video call using Windows Live Messenger... i know, both is 2.0MP webcam...
i check the 1520, the driver use year 2006 Microsoft driver... and the current 1640 use latest Creative Labs driver
then i uninstall the Creative Labs driver, and let the windows 7 self install it.. now using year 2006 Microsoft driver..
The result : still the same bad quality.. some time freeze...
then i reinstall the latest Creative Labs driver... Now, no more freeze, jz bad quality.. can see a lot of boxes
WLM version same... use same connection... at home...

If the video quality is bad, i.e. pixelated video, video feed from the person on the other side froze then it's very likely the Internet connection is slow; whether it's the Internet connection on your side or the one you're trying to communicate with.
It happened to me when I was in Australia, video chatting using LiveMessenger with my friends back in Malaysia. It doesn't happen all the time, if the connection is good then the video quality is good and vice versa.
Switching to Skype improves the situation a bit.

Why my studio xps 16 cannot install PSPICE 9.1 student version?
I click on the installer, it is not runing and nth pop-up, cannot install.
Previously was using Vista 64-bit, cannot install. After i upgrade to Windows 7 64-bit still the same...
*
I use PSPICE last semester on Vista Home Premium 32-Bit, didn't try on Windows 7 64-Bit.

lol.. how to boot from pendrive? just place the ISO there? and make the BIOS boot up USB Drive 1st?
*
Not as simple as that, read more.
You have to convert the ISO files and format the USB drive at the same time to make it bootable.

Not unless you use the desktop driver and mod it for notebook use; refer to the first post or here for more details.

something weird just happen to my dell studio xps 16. after 30mins of playin mw2, there was suddenly some water under my comp. anyone know where did the water come from??
*
Water as in a pool of water or droplets of water?
If your table started off freezing cold then the heat generated from the notebook might have cause water condensation on the table top.

Just tried to update BIOS to A12 on my 1640, and guess what? computer hanged at "programming block 19 of 32", called Dell after half an hour, they said can't do anything, have to turn off the computer and try to start it again. Unfortunately, the computer is not able to start up anymore, no Dell screen, only the 3 volume buttons blinking.... Motherboard will be replaced tomorrow sad.gif

If the flashing process failed, it's likely the mainboard needs a replacement.

Launching a full screen application will sometimes cause that to happen.

I believe we're approaching the page limit of this thread; anyone interested in becoming the next thread starter for Dell Studio XPS?
