Would the i7-720m or i5-540m be the better option for gaming? Please state your reasons as well thanks...Only thing I know is with the i5, the memory would run at 1066MHz

The Core i5 has dual-cores, 4 threads and higher clocks compared to the Core i7-720QM which has quad-cores, 4 threads, and lower clocks. People will only benefit from its quad-cores if the applications uses quad-cores.. For gaming the Core i5 dual-cores are better

core i5 xps 16 ftw! =D
well, like they all say, it's ll about how the game uses the processor... for example... the most well known game which is "smart" enough to utilize 4 cores is Resident Evil 5... thus it performs better on core i7. other games which are not designed for 4 cores will actually suffer as they are probably running from 2 out of the 4 cores...at lower clock speeds. |
