Just a few weeks after its release, the HTC HD2 will shortly receive an official ROM Update from HTC. The updates are not yet available on HTC's support page but have been leaked and made available to the public via HTCPedia.

So far, after initial feedback, it seems that the new ROM brings a newer build of Windows Phone 6.5 (original WWE ROM 1.43 was 21864, the new 1.48 ROM to be released is 21869). Also, HTC Sense has been updated to 1921 from 1920.

Another important aspect: after preliminary testing, users report that the Pink Spot Syndrome has been fixed and no longer affecting the device.

Make sure to check the HTC website and its support section in the next couple of days in case you want to wait untill it's released there.

Looks like we finally got a solution...

The official shipped ROMs for various countries are listed HERE and can be downloaded but unfortunately cannot be used as there is no SPL available yet.

Our Msian unit build you look at at the OS version: 5.2.21869

If you were to looked at coooked roms ( not available yet for HD2) ; the Microsoft Build has been develop to ver 21882 already and many cooked roms for the htc TP2 and HD the rom cooks has been working their roms based on this build already ( more than 2 weeks already leaked out )

The news that the Manila version has changed to 19220### is good as our Msian version Manila is 2.5.19211619.0. Maybe the updated Manila version will solve most of the SMS complaints sent oiut from Manila homescreen

Looking for a RSS reader, the stock RSS reader that came with the HD2 isn't that good as it doesn't download the images and only text.

Have my eyes quite set on this beast. My question is regarding battery life. A lot are saying its good and a lot saying its bad but we donno how its being used.

I want to know the battery life with internet updates (facebook, twitter etc) turned on and with heavy internet browsing either wifi or 3g. Voice calls maybe 30 minutes.

Anyone?

Actually there are few options available for RSS - whether free or need to pay. Just download and test all and see which is more suitable.

Tweeter and RSS are my number ones usage on my phone, follow by email, browsing and others. These 2 are so important to me I buy the right software for it. Similarly I replace the half baked Tweeter builtin with Twikini ( which I bought since my htc HD days)

I don't think anyone can give you a good and satisfying answer here. If you were to look thro the postings at forum.xda HD2 section, there are criticisms, praises and neutral opinions. Battery life is also compounded by other installed software which will affect it ( especially software with auto updates builtin , unless you disable it )

For me, the battery can reasonably last me a normal day use ( 7 am till 9 pm ) and that is according to my needs which is definately different from anyone else. My phone I used a lot on checking Tweeter updates ( I set auto every 30 mins), RSS news feed checking ( do that every 2 hours) , email - every hour check, browsing - not so much , maybe about an hour most use it , phonecalls /SMS ( total about 20 a day ) , ebook reading - average about an hour/day, and my weather update is set every 3 hours.

But I do notice if on the road while using GPS Garmin/or Mapking the battery drops fast but is not a issue as in car my unit is being charge while on the road

With all these activities and the battery lasting from 7am to 9pm, I would say it is good battery life biggrin.gif

I am using the stock reader too, but I have no problems displaying images. I think it depends on the RSS feed of the sites or version (Atom vs RSS 1.0 vs RSS 2.0). The other option is to try this app - Speeed Reader which syncs up to your Google Reader subscription. It is finger friendly navigation.

It displays images only if connected to GPRS/3G/Wifi. Im actually looking for one that downloads and caches all the images for offline reading. But have already found one smile.gif
