The 2 buttons are from DJCedric cabs : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=604469

Presently I am on Topix 1.1.2 - my longest so far. This is the rom where I recovered about 80MB free storage memory . Now my HD2 with all my 3rd party programs all installed , I have about 128MB free storage mempory versus about 40MB previously in the official rom. The problem with Topix is he updates his rom very frequently-  at least once a week

Miri's rom is equally good and can match topix..

XannyTech and Dutty's I find still buggy

Thanks for the tips benn! So u're using the SSPL to change ROMs? Planning to change ROM too... Any idea where to get the original HTC ROM in case wanna change back? (Like for warranty or sumthing like tat... better be prepared for any crap that might happen tongue.gif)

I'm currently using Sprite Backup to backup everything on my HD2, in case I need to do a HR. If I change ROM, can I use the backup files I made from current ori ROM?

Will probably try out with Topix 1st wink.gif

Great Benny, I was about to PM you regarding the cooked ROM biggrin.gif.

Anyway I heard that Topix is very good. But the latest replied in the XDA forums stating that there is a problem like all the setting reset back to factory setting. Do you face this kind of problem?
*
No such issue so far. If you wish to try suggest Topix or Miri as starters. If you like to have extra folders ( eg Multimedia, Tools, Navigation, etc ) pre set for you - Topix ; Miri's rom comes with no extra preset folders

You can download the Asian official rom ( I assume you bought in Msia ) here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread...=577717&page=21 at post#203.
Other rom versions just search around this weblink at the front pages

Yesterday HSPL was released http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=611433; with it you can now flash new radio. The HSPL process is also very easy

This morning I use HSPL to flash the Turkish rom ( so far is only official rom with latest radio 2.06) ; then I continue to reflash the Topix cooked rom. So my HD2 is now on Topix 1.1.2 and radio 2.06
You need to download first Leo custom RUU to flash rom after the hard SPL is done : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=575524

Benny, mind to link which Turkish ROM you used? Is it through this LINK?

Another question is, how is the flashing of ROM goes? Is there any precautions steps that we need to take/avoid to avoid unnecessary brick?

Thanks smile.gif

Flashing is easy - just follow the steps , pretty straight forward

Precautions : REMEMBER to take out SIM card and micro SD card to avoid motherboard kena fried. It happen to me before one time in my previous Dopod U1000 ; that time I was upgrading official rom - so was able to claim warranty and HTC Spore replace the motherboard free of charge

For the HD or any others - you must restore back the SPL and also radio ( if is changed ) not only the original rom. First thing SIS or any authorised dealer do is go to bootloader mode ( tricolor screen ) to check the SPL version. Many people forget to do this step and think by restoring back the original rom is good enough. I have help 2 friends claim warranty by restoring back the stock SPL and stock rom - SIS cannot detect there is a rom change before. And also make sure you are restoring back the actual rom not any other official rom ; so before you do any rom cooking write down the original rom version and download a copy of first for possible restoration purposes

2 major problems wif the phone so far. One is the unoptimized graphics driver on the phone which HTC is still not addressing. Someone from xda forums created a patch which would fix the graphics issue increasing the speed of graphics to abt 500%. But still there is some laggyness in the HTC sense. I would advice any of you to go look for it. It's call 'chainfire hd2 driver patch' or something.

Another issue is the sms issue whereby at certain point, some sms is delayed or sometimes it does not send across. HTC has released a hotfix for this but still there are a few reports of people not getting their sms acrossed. Hardwarezone.com.sg forums is tracking this the other day i saw and according to one of them whom had emailed HTC about it, it seems they are aware of the problem as some ppl from Taiwan is experiencing this as well and HTC are actually working to resolve this issue. Meantime to overcome this, some of them disable HTC messaging and go back to the good ol' WM messaging for time being.

Nevertheless it's still a good phone with alot of potential. Windows Mobile 7 is confirmed by HTC which they will release an upgrade later for the HD2. WM7 will fully support multitouch and multi gesture. Currently all previous Windows OS is not multitouch capable and HTC basically implemented a hack to enable support for this.

For those who are playing with custom ROMS, 1st rule is alwiz find ways not to 'brick' ur phone. Install proper bootloaders which will allow u to recover from any bad flash. Secondly there is always a risk of flashing custom roms especially when it's not made for the same region. Physicall hardware ids located in certain memory blocks can sometimes get overwritten by other data which can result in unable to turn on WIFI, VIBRATOR not functioning, BATTERY not charging issue. Usually you cant repair back this issues by reflashing again to the old ROM as the memory has been overwritten and the data is lost. So Just becarefull..

They should have included a 2nd camera for video calls and should have given this phone higher capacity batteries as it being a 1GHZ 'potential' phone. Oh yeah, it's not running at 1GHZ most of the time. It depends on what appz u run and then the phone will scale to that speed needed to cater for it.

Battery life seems to be very poor for me. I'm not really a heavy user, prolly 4-5 short calls, two dozen or so SMS, a few Youtube clips and some Facebook. Battery lasted around 12-13 hours only for me doh.gif

I'm not sure bout others, further comments are based on my personal experience on my device. At first the battery couldnt last very long. But after a week+, I feel the battery lifespan increased significantly. A full charge can last me for about 3 days (with the usage of BSB tweak). Perhaps u can try installing BsB tweak (if you havent).

Same here, my battery life is about 2 to 3 days now. Turn off 3G connection unless you wish to use it and turn off after use. Turn off ALL auto update as well.
