Hello, fellow forumers. I have some questions about the OMNIA.

1) What's the latest official ROM?
2) On the OMNIA firmware upgrading site, how do I know what ROM ver. that's being offered before downloading it?
3) How old is the DXHG3 ROM?
4) Is it true that there's no official WM6.5 upgrade for the OMNIA? Source?
5) Is there a way to run the FM radio without attaching the wired headset? Could attaching the data cable, 3.5mm adaptor, etc. work?
6) Is there a way to listen the FM radio from the speaker / Bluetooth headset instead of through the wired headset?
7) How much does a new housing cost?
8) Is there any crystal/silicon case that has a transparent (flip) cover protecting the screen?

Thx. happy.gif

please read the first page for most of ur question...it is stated alrdy.
WM6.5 will not official launch from Samsung anymore, customer service said so.
registry patch can do for listen radio without headset, but it kinda suck because the headset line is ur wire of receiption la~~
but by using the official headset u can unplug half of it and connect to speaker as I do it so.
housing normally cost u RM200-300 or u can order on ebay, cheaper.
I am using soft jacket, better than silicon case and it is not sticky.
screen u can use screen protector ya,...lol but the thing u mention do present by capdase.
capdase softframe + magic screen. icon_idea.gif icon_idea.gif

fense. Thx. for your reply.

1) Well, it didn't occur to me that "Leaked ROM = Official ROM"... Oh wait, what's a leaked ROM?
2) Nevermind. The ROM ver. is stated in the NAME of the file.
5) Know how to go about that? Which reg. key to edit? From my experience handling radio devices, for the reception, any metal part that touches a radio device becomes the antenna.
8) What I mean is a protection case with a flip cover that looks like the one w/ the HP iPAQ rw6828.

Yeah, searching online yields results of "Capdase Soft Frame w/ Magic Glass" which did away with the flip design altogether, & "Capdase Soft Jacket 2 XPOSE" (dunno if this one has Magic Glass). Haha, looks like I'm lagging behind technology. tongue.gif
Does anyone have one? If yes, where can I get it?

9) How do U tell the exact remaining battery charge? It seems to show just a bar indicator between 0 & 100.

Thx. happy.gif

A friend of mine has an OMNIA & I'm interested in getting 1. I'd directed my questions to my friend as well, but the fella's a PDA novice & didn't know the answers. Hence, here I am. biggrin.gif

fense, I believe I see your pt. about the radio. If I'm to get an OMNIA, I might as well use the included headset, right? Well, what if it's a non-full set (which doesn't include the headset)? The only accessories that could be attached into the multifunction jack are the charger & data cable. Yeah, the phone's metal part that I was referring to is the multifunction jack.

I stumbled upon a link which describes my intentions perfectly.

P.S.: Mod.s. If this link is not allowed, please feel free to delete it. Sorry. tongue.gif

I'm well aware that attaching the headset to enable radio functionality has its purpose(s) & that's what Samsung Mobile & almost everyone else would iterate. But I'm an experimenter & would like to discover things myself w/ the guidance of our kind OMNIAns. Perhaps experimenting the registry files might work... hmm.gif

Yeah, I know the OMNIA doesn't have holes to attach any flip cover. Instead, I was referring to any protection case that has the flip cover feature. Seems it doesn't exist. The closest being the "Capdase Soft Frame w/ Magic Glass". sweat.gif

The battery charge bar indicator really doesn't state the exact numerical value of the remaining charge, I'm not kidding, unless y'all are referring to other battery charge indicator prog.s. Start\Settings\System\Power. My prev. WM phones state the numerical value though. Here's a screenshot from my friend's OMNIA (official ROM ver. DZIA5) & the ASUS P750 for a graphical description:-

Using the GPS on Omnia consumes so much battery power, sometimes my phone is out of battery in just a few hours.. sweat.gif

of course.my also same, initially full bar battery, after few hour on gps.battery drop to 30%..@.@

U could activate Flight Mode (turn GSM off) for the extra juice. After all, if U happen to use GPS on the road, U're not suppose to talk / msg. on the phone while driving <Tsk, tsk, tsk.... rolleyes.gif >

Besides official Samsung service centres, where do y'all send your phones for repairs & servicing, esp. expired warranty ones?

Any recommendations of PDA phones repair & service centres in the Klang Valley?
