KUALA LUMPUR 12 Okt. - Polis menembak mati dua penjenayah yang dikehendaki berhubung satu rompakan bank di Taman Segar, Cheras bulan lalu, di dua lokasi berasingan di Selangor dan Pahang hari ini.
Kejadian dikatakan bermula pada pukul 2 petang apabila polis berjaya mengesan dan mengekori dua buah kenderaan yang dinaiki suspek iaitu sebuah Honda Accord dan Toyota Estima di salah satu lokasi di Subang Jaya.
Ketua Jabatan Siasatan Jenayah Kuala Lumpur, Datuk Ku Chin Wah berkata, sebaik sahaja menyedari kehadiran polis, dua suspek terbabit kemudiannya berpecah dan memecut kenderaan masing-masing ke arah berasingan.
Menurutnya, Toyota Estima yang dipandu suspek berusia 41 tahun berkenaan dikejar polis sehingga ke Goh Tong Jaya, Pahang pada kira-kira pukul 3.30 petang.
''Apabila sampai di satu persimpangan jalan di situ, berlaku insiden tembak menembak antara kedua-dua pihak menyebabkan suspek terbunuh.
''Pemeriksaan polis ke atas kereta suspek menemui sepucuk pistol automatik Smith & Wesson berserta pelurunya,'' katanya yang ditemui di tempat kejadian di Goh Tong Jaya, Pahang petang ini.
Sebelum itu, nasib yang sama turut menimpa rakan suspek apabila lelaki berusia 33 tahun bersenjatakan sepucuk pistol .38 revolver juga ditembak mati berhampiran kompleks beli belah Jusco Taman Equine, Seri Kembangan dekat sini.
Chin Wah memberitahu, kedua-dua suspek merupakan anggota sekumpulan tiga penjenayah yang terlibat merompak cawangan Bank Hong Leong di Taman Segar, Cheras pada 18 September lalu.
Dalam kejadian tersebut, seorang pengawal keselamatan bank yang berusia 27 tahun maut terkena dua das tembakan rambang yang dilepaskan suspek.
Difahamkan, sejak rompakan itu, cawangan Jenayah Berat (D9) dari Bukit Aman dan Ibu Pejabat Polis Kontinjen (IPK) Kuala Lumpur mula menjejaki pergerakan kumpulan itu sehinggalah kejayaan pada hari ini.
Satu sidang akhbar mengenai kejayaan polis menumpaskan kedua-dua suspek terbabit hari ini dijangka akan diadakan di IPK Kuala Lumpur esok.

Police inspecting the car of the robber who was shot dead in Seri Kembangan
A SHORT burst of speed, a desperate bid to shoot their way out and finally death in a hail of bullets.
The locations were different but the fate was the same for two "highly wanted and dangerous" suspected robbers believed to be involved in a spate of bank robberies in the Klang Valley and Selangor.
They were shot dead by police on Monday.
Two crack teams, one from Bukit Aman and the other from KL police serious crime division (D9) in unmarked police vehicles, spotted them in Subang Jaya driving separate vehicles - a Honda Accord and a Toyata Estima - at about 2pm.
The Bukit Aman team trailed one robber to Equine Park in Seri Kembangan.
Realising that he was being tailed by the cops, the 33-year old suspected robber sped off when he was near a fast food outlet at about 3pm.
However, his car was blocked by another vehicle at a traffic lights junction. Instead of heeding the cops' call to surrender, he got out of the car and fired several shots at them from a .38 calibre revolver.
The Bukit Aman team wasted no time in firing back. One of the bullets hit him in the chest, killing him. His car was riddled with about 20 bullet holes.

The second shootout happened about half an hour later at Jalan Gotong Jaya leading towards Genting Highlands. The other suspected robber who also found out that he was being followed, started to speed.
But when there was no escape route, the 41-year old man pulled out his revolver and started shooting at the police. He too was shot dead.
City CID chief SAC II Datuk Ku Chin Wah police had been monitoring the "highly wanted and dangerous" robberss who were believed to be involved in several bank robberies, including the Taman Segar, Cheras Hong Leong Bank hold-up on Sept 18.
In the incident, three robbers stormed into the bank at about 3.55pm and shot dead 27-year-old security guard Adi Faizal before escaping with about RM100,000.
The suspects, wearing helmets and armed with a pistol, entered through the front door of the bank. One of them fired two shots at the guard who was standing near the automated teller machines before he could use his pump gun on them.
Two other unarmed guards hid in the back and dared not challenge the robbers.
As the robbers were leaving the bank, one of them grabbed the pump gun of the dead guard and threw it into a drain outside the bank.
SAC II Ku said two revolvers were recovered from the robbers who were shot dead Monday.
He said police were now on the lookout for the remaining members of the gang. More details of the case are expected to be revealed in a press conference scheduled for Tuesday.
