Guys, just wondering whether is i7 3940XM worth getting?
*
For your usage, stay with i7-3xxxQM. XM is almost double the money of the most expensive QM, almost 3x the money of cheapest QM sweat.gif
QM run at 45W (except a few that run at 35W). XM stock runnning at 55W, can run down to 45W and go up to 65W. That's all.

For that kind of money, I rather spend it on getting a larger SSD laugh.gif

Most likely when Haswell get to the market around Sep13, you will probably find the middle range Haswell quad core will match your most expensive Ivy Bridge XM laugh.gif

Wrong section smile.gif
This thread is for mobile CPU.
For desktop CPU, go and ask at the Hardware section. Anyway, why are you asking about old CPU from last decade? tongue.gif icon_rolleyes.gif

what is so funny about it? hmm.gif Plenty of people put SSD in laptop.
Buy a SATA SSD, take out the SATA HDD, put in the SSD, either fresh install OS or clone the HDD data over, viola.

The same SSD can be used in laptop or desktop smile.gif There is no special version for laptop. User just need to make sure they get the models with correct z-height (5 / 7 / 9mm) for their laptop.
