I got myself a pioneer home theater system which did not support any DTS decoding function.. I cant play 5.1 with my xbox and my wd hd tv player. Sifus here can pls suggest whether is better to get an AVR(at least 3/4 hdmi in port) for it or sell the whole system and get a home theater system which comes with a DTS decoder ? Im noob in this, tq pls guide me.. smile.gif

Usage:
LCD TV
Xbox 360
WD TV Media Player

might be just the wd hd setting.

i stuck with the BD player n my marantz can't detech the channel.
after read again the BD player n walah... rclxm9.gif everything ok.

u read the panasonic if it's support DTS first. if it's support, then should be wd hd setting.

thks

If your HT has the digital coaxial input but your WDTV doesn't have the output, then it will be much cheaper to just change your WDTV rather than your HT system ? wink.gif

The digital coaxial jack and connector should be something like this

If you HT doesn't have both digital coaxial and optical, then it's a bit strange

By right your HT should at least has the coaxial digital jack for digital audio if no optical input. If this is the case, you will have 2 choices, either to get an AVR or to replace your WDTV, you could do your own calculation which option is cheaper wink.gif

yeap.. i saw the yamaha thread and they were mentioning about a model 655 which has a number of hdmi port.. but after googling around.. it seems that the price is too steep for me.. so my main priority now is to get an AVR which supports at least an optical in for my WDTV . . .

If your budget is below 1k and assuming you don't need HDMI, I believe there are many AVRs out there selling below RM1k (about RM 600 and above). Probably you can reuse your existing Pioneer HT speakers until you have enough budget to upgrade.

Try Looking at Desa Home Theatre Kepong, there were many AVRs below RM1k when I last went there around August.

Ya..new one will not be cheap, maybe you could hunt for used unit. Most AVRs will have at least optical and coaxial digital in so should not be an issue.
