Hi guys,

Question 1 :

I had a 32" Panasonic Vierra LCD TV HDMI. I need a sound system but need to put in a small room of my own. Any suggestion which i can get in Malaysia / Penang?

Question 2 :

I need something to operate as BLU-RAY players. Any suggestion? PS3??

Question 3 :

Is it better to hook up PS3 to LCD and using external hdd to transmit the blu-ray movies downloaded to get a better resolution?

Please guide me. Thanks!

Question 1 :

Check out the range of HTiB around, got lots..before you get any of them...do some homework first of its capability, inputs / outputs, decoder, latest model etc.
THere are many cases ppl buy stuff which tak ngam..

Question 2 :

PS3 is a good suggestion

Question 3 :

Downloaded movies are never as good as the original Bluray..unless it is in a untouch 1:1 form like BDIso.

wow... lol...

Q1 - HTIB is cheaper but getting one so cheap that it doesn't come with Optical input is a no-no.

Q2 - BD Players are now quite cheap. Skip the PS3 if you don't play PS3 games. Get the PS3 if you do play PS3 games

Q3 - You won't be able to play downloaded HD movies (MKV files) on your external HDD using your PS3. You may want to consider getting a Media Player.

I have this problem with a setup similar to yours. 32" LCD TV, PS3, Media Player and HTIB. I have to manually plug and unplug the optical cable from my PS3 to Media Player each time I use 'em (PS3 for BD and Media Player for softcopy HD movies). To avoid this issue, spend more... get a proper AV system with multiple HDMI inputs.

Then again, a Yamaha / Pioneer / Denon AVR system in a small room can be quite an overkill. Alternatively, you may want to consider a BD HTIB (BD player that comes with 5.1 sound system and an Optical Input). Then your setup should be:
- Media Player --> BD HTIB via Optical for Audio
- Media Player --> LCD TV via HDMI for Video

- BD HTIB --> LCD TV via HDMI for Video
- Audio comes direct from your BD HTIB

Sample BD HTIB that I know comes with Optical

Hi..

Actually.. there is no such ting as overkill where spkrs/amps are concerned - hvn a megawatt amp wif multiple drivers dont neccesarily mean tat it ll play so loud tat u can't control it - keyword is control here..

If on a budget, luk for used gear - spkrs especially r pretty hardy n is quite safe in gettin a used 'decent' brand - chek d tweets - normally straind tweets will die earlier.. avrs r harder to find especially if u wan current format ones.. if u r serious in HT .. go tis path instd of HTiB's..

That's correct.

If it is being calibrated properly and you have some acoustic treatment, the result is rewarding. My neighbours did not complain as to date. I did ask both immediate neighbours whether any disturbance when I watch movie. They can only noticed faint noise and a bit of the sound pressure (the other neighbour since my HT room is next to his).

I changed most of the doors to solid heavy doors and done some treatment. However, if you are at my main door, you can feel the sub powerful pressure. My HT room is upstairs at the back tongue.gif

To each his own..bro, no rite or wrong..

U mean if small rum dont nid big spkrs ah.. small spkrs can do, is it? I tot freq rsp is more important than size.. but unfortunately u cant get decent bass wif small spkrs.. so tat in turn means u nid a sub.. more gear summore ..

I oso run a secondary HT in a bdrum wif a big paradigm flstndr n cos of its huge driver/volume, it can go to almos 40hz n cos of tat I can stil enjoy sum decent LFE even wifout a sub..
