Dear all
After thorough discussion with AMEX CS just now and after receiving both Gold Charge card and Credit card, here are the important details:
Charge Card - annual fee about RM100+ but at the moment still waived - balance and MR points can check at amexmalaysia website, not mb2u - turbo rewards 3x is available for RM50 fee - no differentiation in purchase of petrol, grocery, book store, all with receive either 2x or 3x MR points with or without turbo rewards
Credit Card - lifetime annual fee waiver - balance is available in mb2u, at this moment its says Treatspoint but it is actually MR points, mb2u is trying to fix this - no turbo rewards 3x MR points available - 5x MR points for petrol, grocery, etc as advertised, but other purchases will only get 2x

Oh yes, charge card fee will be 238. I didnt read properly since I m still under 3 year waiver.
Turbo rewards increased to RM100? Wow. Will the fee be charged annually or just one time? Otherwise, credit card is a clear winner here.

QUOTE(guanteik @ Dec 4 2009, 04:00 PM) I have paid my set of tyres changed at Toyota SC with AMEX before. I believe not many tyre shops accept AMEX, same as retails. Thats an option but Toyota SC does seem to jack up the price by quite a margin.

For Turbo Rewards 3x MR, it was charged into my account in Jan 2010 (was RM50/year, now RM100/year).
Since I plan not to keep the charge card, AMEX CS said the RM100 charge will be deducted if I cancel my card soon.
Too bad Najib doesn't know how charge card works.

Dear all,
Just want to share my experience trying to redeem my MR for Frequent Flyer / Frequent Guest programs.
I have AMEX Gold Credit Card. When I called the CS, they said that Credit Card will NOT be eligible to redeem points such as Starwood, Hiltonhonors, etc. Reason? Maybank still haven't set up the "facility" for this type of redemption.
If you have AMEX Charge Card, then yes, you can redeem for frequent flier / guest points as usual.
I found this to be shocking after spending my purchases mostly to AMEX credit card only to find this issue yesterday. I even talked to the supervisor on the phone and she could only apologised for the problem.
I told her I might just write to AMEX HQ (in USA, I assume) regarding the silly things Maybank is doing to their brand.
Anyone else has the same issue?

QUOTE(winner @ Feb 13 2010, 09:46 PM) I was surprised hearing this. I thought Amex Plat/Gold cc are under MR system, thus having no problems to redeem MR points for frequent flyer programmes. LOL, I guess nobody else here who cares much about Frequent Flyer Programmes. No wonder Maybank can sneak this "rules" behind our back. So, in short, the "Membership Rewards" for AMEX charge card vs AMEX credit card are not the same. Unfortunately it is only mentioned in the small fine print (booklet) when you first received the card.

I think it is hard to reach Amex CS ever since they were doing migration. I have to call them a few times just to check my balance or to ask my MR points.
The silly migration is still not completed yet! Imagine ppl need to call them just to check balance or MR! I have a feeling the migration will drag into June. Way to go, MAYBANK!

QUOTE Thanks for the info, had to re-register. But stupid system cannot check supp card details. Call AMEX to complain (call was picked up within 2 rings ) and they are aware of it and CS said Management informed system not yet stable Wonder how much they pay those jokers that are implimenting the upgrade that took them months and is incomplete. Yeah, bit unstable. Couldn't find my card num initially. Another bug: AMEX credit card unable to view MR, but charge card can view. They must be conned by upgrade con-sultan. LOL. Summore, the graphical interface looks unprofessional *sigh*

OMG, I'm sorry angry today. They haven't sorted out the "negative" MR balance for gold credit card! As a result, there are still "conflicting" MR total for my card.
What worried me is that 2 weeks ago, my MR was 6,934 but today it suddenly became 4,862? The CS had no record of any "point deduction" and completely at lost what to explain to me.
Now awaiting for the CS supervisor to respond to me. Geez!

What's wrong with the new AMEX website? Always unable to view recent transaction and always gives some random ERROR CODE. My patience with Maybank is wearing thin!
