Do not expect budget hotels accept Amex.

Just wanna update something. FINALLY, I managed to make payment for petrol purchase using Amex in Petronas awhile ago. My conclusion is, if you insist using Amex in Petronas, you ought to find those older Petronas stations which have Amex logo appeared, and the card must be swiped in the counter. Do not waste time in newer Petronas stations (without Amex logo) as they neither accept Amex over the counters nor swipe at the kiosks, at this point in time.

No. Only foreigners must be a Maybank savings or current account holder in order to be eligible for the AMEX Gold credit card. Minimum wages set by Maybank must be met, too.


Not true. One can still sign up for M2U service even he/she is not a Maybank savings/current account holder.

Even if you don't subscribe M2U and you don't need to view your transactions as well make a transfer online, you can still own the cc and receive your monthly statements via e-mail or normail mail.


It depends on decision of branch. If you submit your application to MBB Card Centre directly, there is definitely no welcome gift. I was given a tumbler at MBB MV branch while other MBB branches I knew did not give any freebies during the time I applied for the card. If you really wanna get a guaranteed gift, you may try to apply from agents.

I applied AMEX Gold (MBB) last month, I just received my card few days ago. I would like to ask, how come the validity of the card is till 04/10 only? this means that i have to change card every 6 months? and i have to reapply for autopayment every 6 months?

Ya, i do understand that they will be replacement before the current card expire. The problem concerned is that, during every event of card replacement, there will be change of card number, and i have to reregister my autopayment to my new card number.. it will be a hassle for me..

Yes, when check in M2U the both TP and MR are combined, but when you need to redeem for gifts, the point is separate.

If you did Express Autopay with Amex, I think you don't need to resubmit an Express Autopay form and MBB/Amex will update the data for you automatically. However, if you applied for autopay service with the respective agencies directly and not through Amex, you need to inform the respective agencies manually about your new card details.


There shouldn't be any problem using Amex for online shopping at the above-mentioned e-shops.
