actually Himedia HD600A (1185) also no fan, it works well and not that hot. However, if I put a HDD on top the temperature becomes too hot for my liking. Someone tested after playing SATA HDD after 10mins, the power used for HD600A with SATA HDD attached is <12W
I don't think plastic casing will be ideal for 1185 especially without fan. Himedia claims HD600B is also fanless cause they have a better design casing that helps distribute heat well. Still waiting for reviews to confirm there won't be any heat issue. The comment I made regarding heat issue for 1185 is based of my 2 weeks with HD600A. |

IMHO, as HDD getting cheaper and higher BB speed, the files we download gets bigger. think the next trend will be HDD docking, so USB 3.0 may be worth having.
