Are you sure it's not the blue angel wrongly detecting the drive as a USB CD-rom?

I have the Buffalo ministation (not the lite) and my POHD doesn't have problems with it. Been copying to and fro many times already.

Buffalo ministation lite works on my
1)vista home laptop
2)wdtv

It doesnt work on my
1)vista ultimate desktop (hangs the pc)
2)xp laptop (hangs laptop or auto play scans through all my movies before it stops or the message something like  'dvd driver detected' if u press ok it hangs.. if u dont press ok then it doesnt work)

3)blueangel h10r detects buffalo as dvd and hangs
If i go to the hdd management there is a partition for 'virtual cdrom' and formated as 'cdfs' file system... i am trying to get rid of this partition... does your buffalo have this piece of buffalo shit vitual cdrom too?.. i have no idea what is the virtual cdrom for.. and cant get rid of it.. it doesnt offer me the choice to format it..arrgggg
*
My Buffalo drive model does not have this Virtual cdrom. Sure there is no way to get rid of the special partition through Windows? Have you checked all the buffalo utilities provided to see if they provided any software to remove the partition?

anyone connected their 1073DD player using just the SPDIF digital out for audio to AVR?
i encounter a little bug. with the SPDIF set to RAW mode, the player can bitstream stereo, DD & DTS for MOVIE without problem.
but for MUSIC mode, (with SPDIF RAW), there's no sound output for all my mp3. if i set to SPDIF LPCM, there's sound output.
if i were to connect additional composite L+R channel analog audio cable, there'll be sound for my mp3.
any other method to solve?
*
My POHD can play mp3 even if set to SPDIF Raw.

You referring to Boxbuilder ah biggrin.gif . They are the main distributors for AC Ryan POHD. At least they don't hide behind another name.

Because they say something like " Our policy: Accessory defects replace on the spot. Main unit defects replace within 1 week, if stock available. Within 3 weeks if out of stock." smile.gif

Yes, we are from Box Builder Solution. We are here to get your opinion (some functions you prefer) and feed back to our suppliers. So, we are welcome your suggestion regarding Mede8er and POHD. Thanks.

My Opinion on POHD is that you should push AC Ryan + Realtek to solve their problems with Dolby and DTS companies and provide the HD Audio formats (True HD and DTS-MA) as initially promised in the sales promotions brows.gif

I think Elite Chew will agree with me on that biggrin.gif

Believe me, it's useless watching a True-HD movie without any sound.

Actually cross-firmware flashing is happening all over the world with the same chipset. It is worth to know whether it can work or not. At least we know that POHD and Mede8er cannot work although they share same file format '.img'.

I agree with you. But the fact is : Realtek giving a misleading fact. They thought that HD audio pass thru is easy but the fact is not. Currently Realtek is hacking their head on how to solve this problem. If new SDK can solve this outstanding problem, it will be great or else we are tuah tiao liao!! rclxub.gif
*
I have a strong feeling this is just a common 'Buy Time' excuse used by Realtek. If after so many months they still can't deliver, I don't think HD audio will ever see the like of day. After March they will probably give another vague excuse until come a time when people just give up completely.

Even AC Ryan has lost confidence and no longer showing the True-HD and DTS-MA logo at their POHD website specifications.

Yes. And Mede8er can play BDMV (Bluray rip files) directly.
He ask whether can play DVD from external DVD drive , not whether can play BDMV from Hard Disk doh.gif

Hi New Mede8er GUI V3 will come within 2 weeks. Enjoy! thumbup.gif

Added on March 19, 2010, 5:17 pm
PlayOn!HD and Mede8er never promise to handle HD Audio pass thru (you can read the gift box and manual) but they did the HD Audio DTS HDMA convert to DTS 5.1. This is due to chipset limitation. For the new chipset, it is bonus for HD Audio pass thru. So, old version is confirmed TTL player  tongue.gif . But if you do not need HD Audio pass Thru, which need a good amp. also, it is still a good player. New version will come propably after May. icon_rolleyes.gif
Cheers.

POHD was advertising TrueHD and DTS-MA when they started selling and promoting. Only after the early buyers realised they were duped and all the complaints stated flooding in at their forums did they remove the specifications from their website. Giving excuses about Realtek, licencing issues blah, blah ...

Ask our 'Elite Chew'. He was one of the earlier buyers, and till this day he is still waiting for empty promises biggrin.gif

We have tested BD1 but HD Audio pass thru still cannot work. If you follow the mpc club forum, even popcornhour C-200 HD Audio pass thru still cannot work also, after 7 - 8 months launched. Previous HDX900 and HDX1000 was using Syabas firmware. BD1 is their flagship which they setup their own development team. Well, they will take time to familiar with the audio world.

Is this media player another con job ? hmm.gif

I thought the some local reviewers displayed pictures of the HD logo appearing on the AVR?

Sorry, need to amendment, playing HD Audio pass thru is not stable. Sometimes u need to toggle the audio button to get the HD Audio out or u get no sound. So, I don't think it is con job. But need time to stabilze this function.
*
Big diff to what you mentioned earlier biggrin.gif . Then I don't see a major problem. It can be fixed.

overprice too...
better buy other china brand..  same thing.

However I am still happy with AC Ryan (despite the problems). They do try to please their customers with their firmware upgrades, which I don't think the China players will do after some time.

Their forums are quite open and they are quite receptive to suggestions. Anyway the SDK 3 was just newly released by Realtek which caused some further problems, but given time I think AC Ryan can iron them out.

However I don't see the possibility of HD Audio ever being fulfilled mostly due to the fault of Realtek itself.

but that seems to be overkilled  sweat.gif , maybe need to enable noise reduction in tv
so is all 1073 player have the same PQ ? or some come with noise filtration feature?
*
Even stand alone blu-ray player got picture noise , depending on movie.

You have to decide how much sharpening and how much noise reduction you want (picture softer). But in the case of media player like POHD, normally don't have noise reduction adjustment feature, so have to use the TV adjustments.

But I hear that Sigma players got less picture noise.

Oh, that's mean now the media player doesn't support any HD audio at all? Seems like I have been cheated by someone saying that the POHD can support all HD audio format. Like that I think I'm gonna sell this player to someone else and wait for the real HD media player that can support real HD audio format, I'm heard that the 1073+ and 1283+ able to bitstream the true HD audio format, is that true?
*
That have to wait and see. Last time they also said that 1073DD can support HD Audio, but now they give all sort of excuses.

Instead of waiting why not get the currently available HDX BD1 (around RM1K) or the Dune Prime with BD Drive (around RM1.5K).
