QUOTE(heavencloud @ Nov 18 2009, 03:10 PM) The first EMU model came from Austria if not mistaken, the boxy model with 2 small doors but sturdy and fast Class 81 = AustriaClass 82 = South Africa Class 83 = South Korea Actually, in my opinion, the class 81 is more suitable for long distance rather than short distance. |

lol kampung, u sure are bumpign this thread.
well from my point of view the rail system should get up and going since it has been long overdue for an upgrade. ipoh-kl ets service would be a nice edition. but i hope ktm would focus it's effort in the ktm komuter service. since there is more passenger per hour in the komuter if compared to the inter city services. any news on tracks from kl-kuantan?? |

I bump because this news is very significant.well from my point of view the rail system should get up and going since it has been long overdue for an upgrade. ipoh-kl ets service would be a nice edition. but i hope ktm would focus it's effort in the ktm komuter service. since there is more passenger per hour in the komuter if compared to the inter city services. any news on tracks from kl-kuantan?? For the first time, you have modern electric long distance train journey in Malaysia, and maybe ASEAN? KL - Kuantan, nope. It seems most of the effort for now, is to double track and electrify existing lines. |

well it has been long overdue already the double tracking and electrification of the tracks.
well i hope ktm will be able to finish up all the upgrading work that they are due. riding by train is a wonderful experience especially anyone who have use it to travel the ipoh-kl line in the good old days. when the train stops all the hawkers will start to sell nasi lemak la,kueh la and stuff. aaah. nostalgia is nice. |

Ah yes.....then in old days, when the train departs, they have to sound the horn...well i hope ktm will be able to finish up all the upgrading work that they are due. riding by train is a wonderful experience especially anyone who have use it to travel the ipoh-kl line in the good old days. when the train stops all the hawkers will start to sell nasi lemak la,kueh la and stuff. aaah. nostalgia is nice. But in function, maybe no more. When i calculate the average speed for this new train, it seems the average speed is around the maximum speed of the expressways! |

yes, i am too comfounded by that statement. how come more new functions equate to more delays. delays in the service starting?
hmmmm. if from sg buloh tol plaza to simpang pulai tol plaza it will take me about 2 hours on my bike since bike can go really2 fast on the highway. give or take i guess the train speed will top a maximum of 120km/h in the straights and 80km/h when approaching stations or civilian areas. |

Actually i just rode the ktm Express Khas Utara 2 weeks ago from KL Sentral to Parit Buntar and vice versa after more than 10 years didn't use the train to balik kampung. They still using the horn to signal that they are ready to move. But in function, maybe no more. Curves, no idea. Generally, approaching stations, near urban areas, these places, you can't see max speed. Flag system? I don't know. But from my deduction, modern trains have ATP system and electronic signalling, thus you don't need flags. |
