Yap..not so good lah Live selection..cuz England already qualified...the game between Russia and Germany is a do or die game...you win the game you have abetter chances of World Cup...

TEAM NEWS by Goal.com

Russia:

Guus Hiddink’s squad is at full strength, although it remains to be seen whether Yuri Zhirkov will start, given that he has only recently returned from a knee injury.

Possible Starting XI: Akinfeev – Anyukov, Berezoutski, Ignashevich, Zhirkov – Denisov – Bystrov, Semshov, Zyryanov, Arshavin - Pavlyuchenko

Germany:

Joachim Loew will be without backup goalkeeper Robert Enke, who remains sidelined with a mysterious illness. Stuttgart duo Sami Khedira and Serdar Tasci also have withdrawn due to foot and knee ailments, respectively. Hamburg defender Jerome Boateng earned his first call-up, but it is yet to be revealed how he will fit into Loew’s plans.

Possible Starting XI: Adler – Boateng, Mertesacker, Friedrich, Lahm – Rolfes – Schweinsteiger, Ballack, Hitzlsperger, Ozil – Klose

PREDICTION

The tactical battle is no secret, and that should play well into the hands of Germany, who don't need to win. By contrast, the home crowd and familiar artificial surface will obviously benefit Russia. Ultimately, the result will be most dependent upon the quality of Russia’s attack, or Germany’s defense, as the case may be. Russia have plenty of creative options but will need to take their chances if they are to win. If Russia have yet to score as the final quarter hour approaches, hedge your bets on Germany scoring one on the break.

Russia 1-1 Germany

Good Question..

Yes..Kevin Kuranyi is better than Gomez..but he got incident with the germany bos..
QUOTE
Wiki

On 11 October 2008 Kurányi was left out of the 18-man squad to face Russia. After watching the first half from stands with the other unselected players, he left the stadium during the half-time interval and failed to return to the German team hotel. After this incident, German team coach Joachim Löw said that he would never again select Kurányi for the national team. One of his advisors said of the incident to reporters, "He decided what he for himself found to be right, which was to say I’m going home."
and the rising youngster also contribute to the decision...

im glad that our team consider a good young team..(average below 28 years old )..but i feel that Joachim was average National Manager....i still remember that our team under Berti Vogts, Rudi Voller...they play long shot and long passing style...

well im still hoping that he can give back our glory years like the old days...

yap..the recent call up...Joachim call quiet a number of youngster...

Look like Ozil will play his creative part tonight...with Ballack act as holding midfielder...

I believe in him...i mean Joachim...He did superb in Euro..we did reached final..lost 1-0 to Torres...and this World Cup may be our last World Cup for our Kapitano...Ballack...next Captain maybe Lahm....

ok..lets forget the past...and for tonight match...

Russia was quite good under Guus Hiddink...i think he's a proven good manager for what he did at Chelsea befoer Ancelloti take charge...

well i think i dont know some of their players...and almost of them play in Russian League isn't? and of course we know Ashavin, Zhirkov, Pavelychenko...

Ashavin is a well known player and we know he is good too...
Pavel almost play as a reserve at Spurs...but who know maybe he can deliver a good attacking option for Russia...

and for our team...yeap, top players like Ballack, Lahn, Schweinsteiger, can give a good results to our team IF they was on form laa....

this game will be tricky...but i will say that we will win maybe 2-0, 2-1...

From Russia they got saveral amazing player apart of Zhirkov,Arshavin and Pavlychenko...they got a great goalkeeper Akinfeev...targeted by saveral clubs...Pavel Pogrebnyak...a good striker...maybe just like Podolski...start on bench...Alan Dzagoev 19 years old talented youngster....and latest move to Everton Diniyar Bilyaletdinov..and veteren Sergei Semak....

News

11.11.2009 16:29 National Team Men
German coach Joachim Löw: "Cancellation is the right call"
Joachim Löw

On the day following the tragic death of Robert Enke, Germany’s coach Joachim Löw said: “It is hard to describe my emotions. I’m in a state of shock. My sympathies are with his wife and his family. Not only was Robert an outstanding player, he was a great man as well. I remember some wonderful talks we had. He was a good listener, and met other people with an incredible amount of respect. Fair play was a way of life for him. His death leaves a gaping hole. We will miss him, as an important player on our team and as an exceptional man, husband and father. The cancellation of the match against Chile is the right call.”

Argen quiet poor in the middle..i think macherano and veron both will play for the next game...

I hope Loew strengthen the defense and dominate the midfielder and we can beat the one favourite...Argen

I really love the fact that we play a very high team spirit...Mueller to Podolski...Ozil to Mueller proved everything...

Kroos play in the middle while Mueller as RW(still quite frequently changing sides)...Trochowski is the better option to fill the RW...

All the major clubs scouting Germany young players now..in the recent years only a few players played outside of the bundesliga selected to play for Die Mannschaft...

well done to our players...indeed Spain was the best team last night...maybe they just lack of experience how to play against Spain...well, let see we can win over Uruguay on next 3rd and 4th place.... smile.gif

Don't think it was as much to do with experience as it was to do with class. The unfortunate things for the Germans this time round was that their strength just to happens to be Spains as well. They were both set up pretty much the same. Xavi and Ozil played behind the front men. Podolski and Iniesta played similar roles as did Trochowski and Pedro. Schweinsteiger was the link between both halves of the pitch as was Alonso. Both Khedira and Busquets sat back most of the time.

yesterday seems the Germans try to contain Spanish player...they just watch the ball and let the Spanish play their game...Podolski seldom passing Sergio Ramos, and Ozil seems dont have much option to pass the ball...was yesterday is all about the absent of Muller? Low should varies his tactical if one of their key player out..with Spain best defense, it seems hard for Troch, Podolski, to play the ball to Klose...it just one goal that come from Puyol brings the different to this team...

Muller has had a good World Cup no doubt but I don't think he's the sole reason Germany lost. If you ask me, Spain are just that good. Few teams if any can match them if they are on song. The only question this morning was whether or not they were going to get their passing game going and they did. When playing teams who are comfortable on the ball, you have the option of either defending really deep or pressing their players each time they have possession, forcing them into a mistake. The thing about the Spanish is that players like Xavi and Iniesta don't need a whole lot of time on the ball, and even if they don't have options, they are good enough on the ball to keep possession.

Mission to Grab No. 3 !

Quiet disappointing with the performance..we only manage to overcome Spain possession after Toni Kroos was introduced to the game..Jensen march forward is good addition and another good sub by Jogi..Spain is level with us..but Puyol header widen the gap...one lucky strike..bring them to the final..good performance by Neuer..

Germany did very well, it's not easy to be consistent at this level, but they have been very consistent for the past few tournaments, i.e. Runners-up in 2002, 3rd 2006, 3rd 2010. They'd be one of the favourites for Euro 2012 and WC 2014, with the likes of Mueller, Badstuber, Aogo, Boateng, Ozil, Kiessling, Neuer, Kroos, et al providing the backbone in addition to more youngsters coming in then.

Losing to Spain was hard to take, especially when they were doing great v the likes of England, Argentina, Australia, etc. You can see from the off that they were too scared of the occasion and did not do much to overcome that fear. Burden of expectation was heavy on the young shoulders, and the loss of Mueller was not helping as the team had already grew used to him darting from the right with his runs. However, having said that, I'd expect this crop of youngsters to shine even more in Euro 2012 if not WC 2014, especially if they keep performing to the highest level at their respective clubs. We'd need another top striker though, and Kiessling looks set to lead the line for Germany now, ably supported by the likes of Bastian, Mueller, Kroos, etc.

Definitely a team to look out for, especially for the next 2 tournaments.

Having said that, congratulations to Mueller for scooping the Best Young Player and Golden Boot awards, one of the more deserving recipient of these 2 awards.

the problem of youth development by EPL have been must discussed since the failure of the current england squad, changing the system would not be easy and fast, so i dont think much will be change in time to challenge 2012 euro, maybe they can look forward to 2014 if youth development be given priority and field a very young team in 2012 to gain experience.

yap but they rarely taking any risk in the major tournament...

Added on July 14, 2010, 2:27 pmWe might look like this for 2014 World Cup Brazil..

GERMANY 2014

Germany may have been dark horses at the 2010 World Cup, but make no mistake: they will surely be among the top contenders for 2014. With only Miroslav Klose, Arne Friedrich, and reserve goalkeeper Hans-Joerg Butt likely to have retired from international competition, the core of the 2010 Germany squad will return a much more experienced team.

Depending on form, Manuel Neuer or Rene Adler will start in goal. Tim Wiese and newcomer Tobias Sippel should round off the backups, with Roman Wiedenfeller being a suitable reserve in the event of a major injury crisis.

In defense, Philipp Lahm is, and will always be, a shoe-in. The other three defensive positions are very much up in the air. Mats Hummels, who was arguably the Bundesliga's best defender in 2009-10, should break into the first team within the next four years. He will compete with Per Mertesacker, as well as youngsters Holger Badstuber, Benedikt Hoewedes, and, assuming he plays club football in his natural central position, Jerome Boateng. Aside from Lahm, the other natural fullback options will be Marcell Jansen, Marcell Schaefer, and Andreas Beck. Rising star Christopher Buchtmann, who will be 22 by the start of the next World Cup, is an outside contender.

Like Lahm, 81-times capped midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger is irreplaceable, and will be first choice in the centre of the park. His partner, however, is anything but certain. Sami Khedira had a good tournament, but Simon Rolfes is more than capable competition. Youngsters Sven and Lars Bender also have a chance, as does natural playmaker Toni Kroos, who could take a role similar to that which Khedira played in 2010.

As of now, the four attacking positions (three midfield, one centre forward) are completely undecided. Thomas Mueller, who had five goals and three assists in 2010, should earn a starting berth, and can play in any attacking position. Lukas Podolski, who has the undying support of coach Jogi Loew (who is likely to extend his stay with Germany in the next few weeks), also has an advantage and can play either on the left flank or as the lone centre forward. Other options in the position of striker are youngsters Richard Sukuta-Pasu and Lennart Thy, as well as the more established Mario Gomez and Stefan Kiessling.

Oezil & Mueller¦ World class duo in 2014

After being shortlisted for the golden ball award in 2010, Mesut Oezil might be considered a shoe in for the playmaker role, but if he does not improve his fitness, Loew will be concerned about his ability to complete an entire tournament. Look out for Mario Goetze, who at 18, is widely regarded as the World's best footballer at his age. If he does not come to fruition in time for 2014, any of Toni Kroos, Marko Marin, and a host of others may earn a starting role.

Below are the options for attacking midfield and centre forward, in decreasing order of the probability of their inclusion in the starting lineup.

Attacking midfielders (pick three): Mueller, Oezil, Mario Goetze, Toni Kroos, Marko Marin, Kevin Grosskreutz, Marco Reus, Lewis Holtby, Sebastian Rudy, Timo Gebhart, Savio Nsereko, Deniz Naki, Florian Trinks

Strikers (pick one): Mueller, Podolski, Sukuta-Pasu, Gomez, Kiessling, Thy

(4-2-3-1)

Neuer (28)

Lahm (30) – Boateng (25) – Hummels (25) – Jansen (28)

Rolfes (32) – Schweinsteiger (29)

Mueller (24) – Oezil (25) – Goetze (22)

Podolski (29)

Subs: Adler (29), Badstuber (25), Hoewedes (26), Kroos (24), Marin (25), Sukuta-Pasu (24), Gomez (29)

World Cup 2014 Objective: Winners

read this:

Ballack warns Lahm over Germany captaincy

imo, with die mannschaft has many young players, do they need ballack? (since he will be 34 in september)

if he plays, what formation will die mannschaft use?

and who will be on the bench? ozil? khedira?

that would depend on if he could accept the fact he is most likely not going to start and lahm will be the captain, if he cannot get over it, it will be a source of tension in the team.

La Liga is certainly worst than BPL or Bundesliga. Its all about Barca and Madrid. The current 3rd biggest club in Spain is a club that has € 700 million debt, almost 300% debt ratio to the club's value. Valencia CF getting 3rd sums up how shitty the other 17 clubs are. Bottom place Bundesliga club earns as much as us, 3rd place in La Liga, in tv broadcasting rights. Madrid can spend all they want, and when they messed up, they have government bailout to help them.

Denmark friendly...hmm..Okey lah with new faces such as Aaron Hunt, Christian Träsch..and Andreas Beck ( the last person excluded to get the 23 person for World Cup..next after Lahm..he might force Lahm to retake the LB..cuz he play on the RB...

Some predict our lineup for WC214 will be like this..

uefa EURO2012 Report Belgium vs Germany
QUOTE
Miroslav Klose's 51st-minute goal was enough for Germany to begin their qualifying campaign for UEFA EURO 2012 with a Group A victory in Belgium.

Klose, 31, hinted this week that he may try to continue to play international football until the 2014 FIFA World Cup and scoring for the 2010 semi-finalists in Brussels underscored his intentions to trouble defences for some time to come. Indeed, he could have added a second when he shot wide late on. Belgium have now lost all seven of their matches against their neighbours since German reunification.

Klose's goal, his 53rd in 102 international appearances, came after Belgium centre-half Daniel Van Buyten lost the ball on the edge of the area to his FC Bayern München team-mate Bastian Schweinsteiger. The conclusion to the move involved two more players from the Bavarian club as Klose slid the ball past Logan Bailly after collecting a clever pass from Thomas Müller.

Moments earlier Bailly, who plays in the Bundesliga for VfL Borussia Mönchengladbach, had spilled a Schweinsteiger cross from the right and Klose was only denied a clear strike at goal from close range by solid defending from Vincent Kompany. Müller scored five times at the World Cup in South Africa to make him the joint top scorer in the tournament. The 20-year-old grew increasingly influential as the second half wore on and forced a fine stop from Bailly with 25 minutes to play.

Belgium had begun the match at express pace in Georges Leekens' first competitive game of his second spell in charge of the national side, crunching into challenges, while the fluidity of their play with a single striker and attacking midfielders interchanging positions at will suggested they had adopted elements of Germany's style.

Romelu Lukaku, Belgium's 17-year-old centre-forward, drew the first save from Manuel Neuer. The Germany goalkeeper made the stop of the half just before the break when he got down low to his right to save a powerful swerving effort from the lively Moussa Démbélé.

Germany began to click midway through the first period and midfielders Mesut Özil and Sami Khedira – both summer signings by Real Madrid CF – missed presentable opportunities after finding space on the perimeter of the box. Klose's strike sets Germany up for hosting Azerbaijan in Cologne on Tuesday, when Belgium travel to Istanbul to take on Turkey, 3-0 winners against Kazakhstan in Astana earlier on Friday evening.

Okey lh but..Mario Gomez should start to learn from Klose..we really need him for EURO later..or maybe Kissling may surpass him..

Azerbaijan is a decent side..but not usually as dangerous as Turkey..Belgium and Turkey is two most challenging side in our group..

We should really stop relying on Klose for goal..Young striker should start to step up to ready to fill his boots...Klose is unique..but he already 31..

News

Schuerrle, 19, and Holtby, 20, will play for Germany by the end of the year, probably in November's friendly with Sweden.
But the pair will sit out this month's matches against Turkey in Berlin on October 8 and Kazakhstan in Astana on October 12 and will play for Germany's under-21 side instead.

Holtby..I hope England didn't call him for this qualifiers...He will get his chances..but not now..play under-21 first..

Grosskreutz look like a long term replacement for Podolski...LW..

Ballack and Kiessling still out injured...

Holtby, Schuerrle, Mario Goetze and Mats Hummels expect to be in the squad for November qualifiers against Sweden...

Their current squad is mouth-watering indeed. All top class players in every positions. Imagine the selection Loew have on midfield. Muller, Gotze, Ozil, Schweinsteiger, Khedira, Marin and much more. Hopefully all the players will be fit by the time the tournament starts. They will win it for sure.

Low: Germany not like Barcelona

Germany coach Joachim Low has rejected comparisons between his side and Barcelona, but said he wants his players to be "mentally very fast" like world champions Spain.

Die Nationalmannschaft are expected to be among the main contenders for Euro 2012 glory this summer, having cruised through qualifying with an imperious record of ten wins from ten.

Low's side reached the final of Euro 2008 and the semi-finals of the 2010 World Cup, being beaten by eventual winners Spain on both occasions but winning many admirers for their attractive brand of football.

Germany's exciting, attacking style has brought comparisons with European champions Barcelona, but Low feels that his side have a more direct approach than the Catalans.

"We have developed a good mix of passing and running, ball-winning, and fast counter-attacks. We are not like Barcelona in keeping possession for very long," Low told DAPD.

"I tell my team: if we win the ball, I want to see the ball in the goal in eight seconds. That's my philosophy. rclxms.gif

Despite Germany's impressive qualifying campaign, Spain remain the favourites to retain their European Championship crown in Poland and Ukraine, and Low believes it is La Roja's mental strength that has been the key to their recent success.

"The Spaniards do not win with aggressiveness and strength in the challenge," Low said. "They are mentally very fast. And that's an important function in the development of all football players: it's about becoming faster in the thought.

"If a player has good technique and a good basic speed, but is slow in the head, this may reduce his value to the team."

Germany will come up against Denmark, Netherlands and Portugal in Group B of Euro 2012.

Cacau not in listed

QUOTE
Cacau is one of four players left out of Joachim Löw's 23-man squad for next month's finals, with the VfB Stuttgart forward sanguine about missing out on his "greatest goal".

Germany coach Joachim Löw has announced his final squad for UEFA EURO 2012, trimming his initial list from 27 players to 23.

Among the omissions are goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen and 18-year-old Julian Draxler, who made their senior international debuts in Saturday's 5-3 loss to Switzerland, while Borussia Dortmund midfielder Sven Bender and Cacau also miss out. The 31-year-old VfB Stuttgart striker, who has scored six goals in 23 appearances for Germany, was pragmatic after learning his fate.

"It was my greatest goal to play for Germany, as I did during the World Cup in 2010," said Cacau. "But from the beginning it was clear that there would be hard competition for the 23 places. I gave my best. Of course I am very disappointed, like the younger players, but I still feel part of the team and wish deeply from my heart that they have a great tournament."

Germany take on Israel on 31 May in their final friendly game before their UEFA EURO 2012 Group B campaign kicks off against Portugal in Lviv on 9 June.

Germany squad:
Goalkeepers: Manuel Neuer (FC Bayern München), Tim Wiese (SV Werder Bremen), Ron-Robert Zieler (Hannover 96).

Defenders: Holger Badstuber (FC Bayern München), Jérôme Boateng (FC Bayern München), Benedikt Höwedes (FC Schalke 04), Mats Hummels (Borussia Dortmund), Marcel Schmelzer (Borussia Dortmund), Philipp Lahm (FC Bayern München), Per Mertesacker (Arsenal FC).

Midfielders: Lars Bender (Bayer 04 Leverkusen), Toni Kroos (FC Bayern München), Thomas Müller (FC Bayern München), Mesut Özil (Real Madrid CF), Sami Khedira (Real Madrid CF), Marco Reus (VfL Borussia Mönchengladbach), André Schürrle (Bayer 04 Leverkusen), Bastian Schweinsteiger (FC Bayern München), Mario Götze (Borussia Dortmund), İlkay Gündoğan (Borussia Dortmund).

Forwards: Miroslav Klose (S.S. Lazio), Mario Gomez (FC Bayern München), Lukas Podolski (1. FC Köln).

not so sure..maybe performance wise..Ron-Robert Zieler and Marc-Andre ter Stegen was selected before this because of the youth prospect and exposure..Tim Wiese performance in the Bundesliga is solid..ad enought to backup Manuel Neuer...

hmm I'd prefer to see Podolski as the lone striker, but I don't think Löw will do that.

But yeah, if it's down to Gomez and Klose, somehow I still prefer Klose to lead the attack.

Munich lads must be really determined to win the Euro after painful defeat at UCL, especially Schweini.

Euro 2012: Germany's Philipp Lahm to play left-back against Portugal

Germany's captain, Philipp Lahm, will switch from his favoured right-back position to the left for their Euro 2012 Group B match against Portugal on Saturday, the coach, Joachim Löw, has said.

It will not be the first time Lahm has changed positions, having played on the left for Germany before and even switching flanks halfway through matches at Euro 2008.

"The coach sees me in that position and I accept it," Lahm said. "I have shown in other tournaments that I can play there." Löw said he had yet to decide whether to use Jérôme Boateng or the young midfielder Lars Bender on the right, as he draws up his plans to stop Cristiano Ronaldo.

"It is very good for us that Philipp will play on the left. There he is very valuable for us," said Löw. Löw added that he was unhappy with Boateng's late-night hotel appearance with a German model and friends in Berlin just hours before the squad's departure for Poland but that his thoughts of a possible switch in defence were unrelated to that.

A German newspaper ran several pictures of Boateng meeting with his friends at the hotel. "I did not like what happened on the weekend," Löw said. "I told him [Boateng] that and I told the team as well. Yes, it was his free time but it was Sunday to Monday. He must be in a position to give it everything he has got in this tournament."

Hummels will definitely start. He's the best CB in germany. His partner will be either mertesacker or badstubber.

Boateng on the right? I know he can play anywhre back four but he played CB all the way for munich(It's been a long time since he play as a full back right?). Why not field lahm RB to handle CR?

doesnt matter much where lahm play..cr can switch flank..boateng on the right is a gamble for me..maybe germany want to play one active fullback and one inactive defensive fullback.. nod.gif

A slow game. Both sides very defensive but alas, Gomez scores a header at 73'. smile.gif

Germany wins 1-0.

good job Gomez. finally he managed to score a clear cut chance. kinda worry about both full back; getting skinned a lot by portugese. Hummels is a class act. definitely motm for me. well, Nauer came close in second

must not give a lot ball to dutch like second half of this game. I am not worried about set pieces, ze german is very strong in defending set pieces

dont know much about German defensive options, but Hummels is class defender.. young and cool. i think collectively they defend OK, not as good as i initially thought. maybe because their CMs werent really protected the back 4.

but Hummels and Neuer saved the day.

im a neutral, satisfy with the game though it was only one goal..

still got quality back up such as Schmelzer,Howedes, Mertesacker.

officially Man of the match is Ozil but I guess many will vote for Hummels as unsung hero right?

can't wait to see Reus, gotze or gundogan to play a bit part in future matches

Even though I predicted Germany will win the championship, I expected a win for Portugal last night, at least a draw. Almost met my expectation, imo Portugal deserved to get at least a draw last night.

Still think it might be better if Muller play at AM and Ozil wider. Bento got it right with introduction of Varela. Pepe-Alves and Badstuber-Hummels were good.

It was a great match, expecting both team to qualify. Man of the match? I can't decide between Hummels and Coentrão.

Hi guys, Arsenal fan and a German International fan. Attack attack attack, that's what these two teams are good at. Fun to watch these two teams play.

What a match against Portugal. They were both very close. Too bad only Portugal like Arsenal doesn't have a goalkeeper like Neuer. Neuer is the new Kahn!!

Nah.. Not even close. Hummels was defending like a brick wall as well as attacking/going forward like a tiger. Hungry fellow that guy drool.gif Very nice to watch.

Yup, great defensive work. Almost all tackles and challenges are clean. None of defenders & central mids were booked, right? Boateng was for time wastage so that doesn't count as poor/sloppy defending.

Yes, a great German onslaught.

In the match against Portugal, both teams play good attacking football. Only thing is Portugal do not have the luck in finishing. Gomez is Good for the Germans.

Even though I predicted Germany and Spain will be in the Final of the Euro championship, I never expected Spain to Draw with Italy. I do agree that Portugal deserved to get at least a draw in the match against Germany.

As for the formation, I agree with a member's comment that it might be better if Muller plays at AM and Ozil on the flank. Coach/Manager Bento got it right with introduction of Varela. Pepe-Alves and Badstuber-Hummels were very good.

Germany did good against Holland too.

Group b aka group of death surely unique, german with 2 wins, stil face a risk to be knocked out from the competition, on d other hand netherland lost 2 games stil has a little chance to proceed to d next round..

The possible outcome of this group would b

1-german n netherland proceed if they both win tonite n d dutch beat portugal by 2 clear gol
2-german n portugal proceed if they both wins tonite
3-german n demark proceed if portugal n netherland draw n demark beat german
4-german n denmark/portugal(whoeva scored more) proceed if german n demark draw n portugal n netherland draw..
5-denmark n portugal proceed if they both wins tonite, they only way to kick german out of this competition
6- netherland n portugal or netherland n demark to proceed - not possible.

kindly add any more possibility ifi missed any..

game against Denmark showed that the German still have problems dealing with set pieces. Germany lost to Spain in WC2010 semi-final through a Carles Puyol's header off a corner.

i read somewhere Gomez touched the ball around 18 seconds on Holland's match, yet he scored 2 goals.. superb statistic..

IMO, i love how German plays ATM (though i never a fan). but Gomez spoiling it.. too static for my liking.. i prefer Klose..

after all, goals /result /end product are all matter..

im neutral for Germany - Greece, but i always like a surprise result..

bro, it's quarter-final against greece, not semi-final. England or Italy awaits them in the SF.

not that i'm taking anything away from both Greece & England...but i do hope both Italy & Germany would meet in the semis..and replicate their explosive WC2006 semi-finals

that would be one heck of the match

3 out of 4 teams in group c are bogey team for gemany: spain, italy and croatia

vs croatia:
last time germany beat them: 2004
last time germany beat them in wc/euro: 1996

vs spain:
last time germany beat them: 2000
last time germany beat them in wc/euro: 1988

vs croatia:
last time germany beat them: 1995
last time germany beat them in wc/euro: x (germany never beat them in wc/euro)

superb match, Khedira was MOTM imo. even though Boateng was poor in few occasions, he was decent imo, provided an assist too.

wondering who would be filling up 4 attacking spots in the next match, I can only see Özil as a certainty, other than him, I can't be sure. Reus/Muller, Schurrle/Podolski, Gomez/Klose, or Gotze perhaps hmm.gif unlucky for Muller, Özil could offer more as AM, and Reus is good as right winger/forward, role that had not been done well in group stage by him, imo.

the Germans can't afford to play like what they did against Greece

they wasted quite a number of good opportunities in first half before Lahm scored and on many occasions they lost possession cheaply up front

hope they are sharper this time and can settle inside regular time

the past stats do not favor the Germans but like Spain vs France match, every game is a new game

Yo smile.gif

Hi german fans. Just thought I drop by to say hi smile.gif

Its Italy v Germany again. Hopefully it will be a classic. There is alot of mutual respect between italian and german fans. Two best european nation head to head again.

Germany has always been the team I support after italy. So if german can beat italy, i will be rooting for germany. Like how i rooted for them against spain in 2008 and 2010 WC. too bad they didnt win,

germany has always been my second favourite national team.. since WC94 nod.gif

I'd say they're more of collective error. 1st goal, three defenders should've stopped Cassano. 2nd goal, defence was out of shape, Lahm being in unfamiliar ground in the middle of the park, failed to play offside. Though he tried recover by closing down Balotelli, but Balo was too strong. Overall gameplay, Italy were more disciplined, tight and efficient.

The Germans did well in the starting 15mins but let Italy to get comfortable after that and were consequently punished.

Both goals were resulted from poor defensive error.

Podolski and Gomez were so ineffective. Boateng's crosses were also poor.

Now have to wait for World Cup but chances of a European country winning in South American is low

towards the end is nice to watch, german attack with 11 players... haha. too bad all is too late, the 2 balotelli goal in d 1st half is so deadly

german needs the lesson, they been winning too many games, attack is the best defence --> this didnt seem fit for germans...
btw, Gomez really no where to be seen, boateng thought himself winger, reus after 1 great free kick also gone missing...

Is Miroslav Klose going to be in the WC 2014?

Or we relying on Mario Gomez as our only striker?
What happened to Cacau?

It's harder for Klose to get carry on . Gomez would likely to go Brazil for WC 2014 ...

But fresh talents would be coming on .we had a lot of good midfielders around, with Gotze would be flourish that time

but the defense is a must must improve department, especially against better team.

he always do that..and reus making impact now..

Marco REUS (23' 90')
Mario GOETZE (27')
Ilkay GUNDOGAN (32')

all 3 young player scored..and they not the actual first 11..Goetze step up for Kroos..Reus for Podolski and Gundogan for Hummels..

Seems like Germany is ready for young blood. The names above with Muller and Kroos, Germany will be the team to beat in the upcoming WC. Hope Ter-Stagen gets a call-up behind Manuel Neuer and Rene Adler

Klinsmann: We will prove ourselves in Brazil

user posted image

Head coach Jurgen Klinsmann said the USA have something to prove at the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil™ despite being pooled in a daunting Group G with his native Germany.

Klinsmann, who signed a four-year contract extension on Thursday, said the goal in Brazil of the USA team is to advance out their group which also includes Portugal and Ghana.

"Brazil is a proving point," said Klinsmann. "Now we are going to prove to the world that we are improving, that we are getting better. We are ambitious enough to say that we are going to the second round and that's what we're trying to do and we will go for it."

Klinsmann has been at the US helm for two years and will be in charge for Brazil having steered the team to top spot in CONCACAF qualifying. The former World Cup winner, 49, said he now feels better about the Americans chances after last week describing the team's World Cup draw as "the worst of the worst". Ghana eliminated the Americans at the round of 16 stage four years ago.

QUOTE
We are going to prove to the world that we are improving, that we are getting better.
Jurgen Klinsmann, USA coach

"We all know it is a tough group," he said. "We want to play eye-to-eye with them and not just sit back and play counter-break football." Klinsmann said he wanted to get the new deal signed before the World Cup so he can continue to build and grow the American programme.

He defended the decision to sign the extension now instead of waiting until after the World Cup. "I am not looking for any kind of comfort zone going into the World Cup," he insisted. "A coach will always be measured by his results. I am a very ambitious person and I always have high expectations."

US Soccer president Sunil Gulati said regardless of what happens in Brazil officials felt a long-term commitment was the best way to go. "All of this doesn't come down to one game or one missed shot or one save," Gulati said. "Jurgen is a unique coach... we like what's been happening with the programme over the last couple of years. It has been a very successful two and a half years."

Klinsmann will also become the technical director for all US national squads which will allow him to work with lower level coaches and younger players in the USA programme. The US won a fifth Gold Cup title this year as well as stunning Germany 4-3 in a friendly in June.

Klinsmann said wins like those help provide the foundation for a winning mentality that he says will get stronger over the next few years. "It is easier to get everybody pulling in the same direction if they know you are long term here," Klinsmann said. "It gives us all that sense that we are thinking through certain periods and not just counting down the days until one starts in Brazil."

one concern about this WC campaign is the germany style of play..we usually play based on how bayern munich play before this..a fast pace counter attack and good in the back..because germany national team core player usually play for bayern..

but now..bayern munich changing their style to more on the triangle passing tiki taka..

do you think we will see germany adapt to this play or stick with current play.

Poland/Ireland would be the only threat of this group...But still considered pretty decent group for Germany rclxm9.gif

yap..possible to do that..bayern always stockpile german midfielders..hehehe

the most crucial position for German this edition of WC..is the striker..

we dont have a reliable WC striker..except for Klose..Gomez still injured if im not mistaken..

Stefan Kieβling, Max Kruse will be two names that might solve the striker problem..but both still unproven at the biggest stage.

or maybe Jogi can turn Podolski as top striker..but I prefer him as LW..huhu

Max Kruse deserves a call up. His performance this season quite consistent. I hope Patrick Hermann gets the nod too.

Name me some German defenders who are stable in this season.

Lahm (DL) (Capitano) is the only one I know but he is DM at the moment (Bayern)
Hummels (DC): sometimes world class but not always. Make some mistakes when
Boateng (DC): recently not stable
Mertesacker (DC): same like Hummels
Germany always had problems for the (DR)-position. Schmelzer is injured (not world class)

Striker: Reus (my fav player btw smile.gif ) can play but he's more powerful as a left winger.
False 9: Goetze - He's good but I doubt that he can fullfill this role for the offensive play à l'Allemagne.
Germany need a good finisher like Klose or Gomez but they're not fit for tournaments resp. important games

those defender you mentioned is still good enough to carry german although sometimes their form is not stable....plus backup like Grosskreutz, Jansen....maybe they only short of backup....badstuber is currently injured n will likely miss the flight to brazil...

for false 9 tactic player apart from the name you mentioned other player like thomas muller( good choice), lukas podolski (his current form is not really good), mesut ozil (more like attacking midfield/play behind striker) can play there...

My team for WC Brazil
Neuer

Lahm-Mertesacker-Hummels-Schmelzer

S.Bender-Bastian/Kroos

Muller-Gotze/Ozil-Reus

Schurrle

Based on current form, Kroos> Bastian. As for the CAM, it's a tough choice between ozil and gotze.

schurrle is the better option upfront for me as compared to muller. pep destroyed a perfect team by insisting on player like muller or gotze upfront. not powerful rolleyes.gif
but it's kind of hard to judge now. bayern play tiki-taka while germany play a little more direct. and if gundogan is fit, i prefer him over kroos laugh.gif

yap pep bring something that changed the entertaining bayern side that always the core of germany national team..I hope that Lahm and Bastian still know how to play fast and direct football.

for me Gundogan against better midfielder..and Kroos against weaker opponent midfielder..both option defensive and attacking. nod.gif

was kinda annoyed at pep to be honest. but glad ancelotti did a heynckes on him laugh.gif i prefer germany 2010. i have faith in lahm. not so much on bastian. when he plays well, no other midfielders can touch him. when he s***, he really cant do anything..and lets hope joachim stop outsmarting himself and stop playing players like gomez and poldi.

Yup. gundogan is a big talent. sad that he got injured. i rate him higher than both basti and kroos flex.gif

Did you watch Bayern vs. Real yesterday? 50% of the Nationalmannschaft are Bayern players.
German defensive work at the moment is exactly like what happened yesterday. Many mistakes. (e.g. Germany vs. Chile) Not world class at all. Now they got the striker problem... Muller this year not so good like 2010 (top finisher), Podolski is only backup by Arsenal, where is Ozil when the team really needs him in important matches? He's unfortunately not a key player sad.gif

If they play like Bayern atm... they'll definetely loose against Portugal (Ronaldo, Pepe & Co.) , Ghana and USA (Klinsmann prefers the counter play like Real)

Germany is a very good 'Mannschaft' with many talents & they play the most attractive football in big tournaments imo but they always loose before reaching their main goal. No motivation, no passion when they're behind. (Italy vs. Germany 2006, 2012, Spain vs. Germany 2008 and 2010). They need the cleverness, consistence, determination and a good balance between defensive work and offensive play to win the world cup.
And they need a 'crazy' coach like Jurgen Klopp laugh.gif or a competent coach like Heynckes (Best coaches for the German Squad in my opinion notworthy.gif )

tiki taka tactic not really suitable to bayen munich at all....and i hope this tactic is not implemented to NT team....those tactic is quite slow tempo & vulnerable to counter attack plus all of german player for yesterday match really perform under par....

just hope they can regain their form back in brazil later...

But are they really good enough to score against teams like Spain, Italy (both are defensive masters) etc.?

I hope so..well Klose still here..

QUOTE(Azurues @ May 8 2014, 09:04 PM)
Wow Germany really lack strikers.

Looks like their wingers and midfielder will be the key.

Volland is having a good season, glad he made the team. Was hoping for Max Kruse to nail a forward spot.. oh well. No Gomez.. sad.gif

I like Gotze, always a fan of him since his younger days. But he currently plays for the club I despise the most in Europe after Barca lolol.

Interesting to see many young defenders for Germany this time, hopefully Ter-Stagen gets the nod for Euro 2016 brows.gif

my main concern would be Joachim low instead of the players. Cause I think he might do things like:

1. Play kroos and basti together which would be a big mistake.
2. Play lahm as CDM. Leaving Grosskreutz as RB?
3. PLAY TIKI TAKA which would be the death of the team. I prefer the 2010 Germany than the 2012 Germany.

My team according to the list would be:
Neuer (GK)
Lahm (RB)
Scmelzer (LB)
Mert (CB)
Hummels or Boateng (CB)
Bender and Kroos (CDM)
Ozil or Gotze (CAM)
Muller (RW)
Reus (LW)
Schurrle (CF)

maybe possible lineup like this...4-2-3-1 or 4-3-3

-------------neuer----------------

lahm---hummel---mertesacker/boateng---scmelzer

schweinteiger-------bender/kroos

muller/gotze-----------ozil------------reus

----------------klose/schurrle------------

Jogi isn't the stubborn Guardiola and Germany isn't Bayern. He won't forcefully implement tiki-taka.

Quite surprised to see only 2 strikers in the team though, age will definitely affect Klose, and Volland over Kiessling is interesting choice.

hopefully, you're right. I'm concerned because he tends to follow what guardiola did. lahm as cdm and gotze as false nine sweat.gif

dont worry..guardiola is not that big in German football scene..even his chairman criticize the gameplay..

false 9 is not a problem, tiki taka is..

german can play false 9..but neve expect them to play like Barca or even Bayern.

The problem is that Lahm and Bastian aren't 100% fit. Both are injured.
Gundogan would be perfect for DM but... injured
