If we buy AP set, can we still download update software and maps from Nokia website?

Also, if we buy original or AP E52 today, what firmware it is now? And do they have black color?

I think they have a new black color. For the firmware I have the one before latest revision but since there are no problems at all i did not bother to update it. Mine's at 022.009

Mine's with the older firmware and no problems with Garmin but it is not as fast as a standalone unit so don't expect it to be. I turn on A-GPS so the signal lock is much faster and it'll not charge telco rates all the way

022.009 and garmin is 5.00.50s60.9. I think must be a bit patient especially when it is recalculating the route, it does not really crashes the phone but garmin will just exit, when reopen it will lock back to the same route, but it's not that it happens very often.

Hi. How to disable surfing the internet using 3G with this phone? I have access to free wifi but often surfing internet, it automatically chose to use 3G instead. Thanks

Added on March 11, 2010, 12:19 amAnother thing. I can get onto the internet but I don't seem to be able to set up my yahoo email. It goes on "contacting email server" for long period of time but nothing happens for a 2 or 3 minutes before it return the message "Unable to connect to server. Try again later."

Any clue?

for chinese language ctrl panel-settings-general-personalization-language-writing language. For more applications go to Ovi store to download, there are many free apps there incl fring, KL traffic, sms preview etc

To disable 3G ctrl panel-settings-phone-network-network mode-select gsm. For access point go to the browser then options-settings-general-access point-select always ask.

To set up email go to open menu then email-new email-follow the wizard. I have experienced your situation before and most of the time either the line is down or the user name/password is incorrect or access point setting. Setting email is a breeze with this phone, can try again.

Many thanks.

On email setup. Do you have to sign up with Nokia Messaging before able to set up email?

Another questions. There are many software for Nokia website for downloading. NSU. Ovi suite and it is really confusing. So to cut the story short, which should I download? Thanks

Nokia Messaging no need to sign up just download fm Ovi site and it's very much like a client for easy set up of the most popular email servers ie gmail, yahoo mail etc. It is in built into the E52, it's just that it's not called the same name. The phone can configure auto for most of the popular emails and that includes Mail for Exchange which is set up in a breeze.

Just register with Ovi and get a free email account. After that register your phone model. Then go to the phone's Ovi icon and sign in. It will then recognize your phone model and lists the down loadable programs, you download and install via the phone. It is not possible to download via PC.
NSU=Nokia software updater where you update your firmware but this is only when necessary, it's not that you need to do it every month.
Ovi suite is the 'new' software to replace Nokia's PC Suite, more features but i find it to be slower.
PC Suite=Nokia's software that needs to be installed on your pc and is used to connect the phone to your pc for backup, sync, transfer data, etc. NSU can be downloaded from there as well.

In short just download PC Suite as Ovi suite is still new and not so stable. Please also note that if you have installed too many 'ahem' programs into your phone you may encounter a problem in back up, so it's best not to if it is your primary phone with a lot of important data.

The rest you just have to learn thru trial & error or ask the experts around here.

Need not feel obligated i just thought this was the most underrated phone in the Nokia line and therefore giving my fair share of experience on the phone.

Many thanks. Yes, I am very impressed with the E52.

BTW, what is Nokia Suites?
http://www.nokia.com.my/get-support-and-so...ia-e52/software

On email setup. I finally solved it when I do not have any *&^% character in my password. Password with those can not be set up. Bugs?

Nokia suites are either PC Suite or Ovi Suite, that's all. Since they have 2 suites they named it in general Nokia Suites. I would recommend PC Suite, more stable but ultimately it'll be good to migrate to Ovi Suite stable version since it will be next gen and also supports Mac.

I have had a few Nokia phones before and I felt that battery element is very important, stability and practicality. E52 fulfills this feature at least for me.

So confusing so I picked the one with all the names "nokia" and "ovi" in it so I installed Nokia OVi Suite instead. ha.

BTW, how long can the phone battery last running GPS? I doubt this phone battery can last a day.

I have never tested it running GPS the whole day and I don't think I will anyway, I don't intend to use it as a standalone GPS device.

I have been playing around with the GPS on and off through out the day, say........total of may be 40 minutes, phone calls for total of <2hrs, about 1 hr of editing contacts etc and the battery can not make it through 2 days. How's yours?

At the end of the 2nd day mine's still got some juice left but bear in mind that I talk via blue tooth all the time so it'll consume more juice. Please also note that the battery has to be run in for about 10 charges for it to be really effective. I'll be happy if I just need to charge the phone every 2 days.

Giving it more thought, may be it is the wireless thing.

While I did turn off automatic WLAN scanning, the phone will still automatically download the email "occasionally" so does that mean wifi is permanently on? If yes, how to turn it off?

I used the word "occasionally" because when I wanted it to download email and especially sending email immediately, it wouldn't do it immediately. It will just sit in the "out" box no matter what I do. It will wait a long time or may be even hours before it does so. Still couldn't figure this one out.

How long is your accumulated talk time in those 2 days with bluetooth?

Could be the email settings or access point settings. It should not be a problem and you will be able to resolve it in time. I read mails on a E71 via MfE, settings are set to access mails every 1 hours during peak period, I turn off UMTS or dual mode and just stick to GSM to conserve battery. If you turn offWifi, 3G, GPS if turned on the whole day will consume a lot of battery.

I talk quite a lot on the phone, I could not tell you the daily usage but my bills are like RM500-700 a month w/o broadband just voice, all done via BT.
