Alot of peeps like to play the waiting game...and most end up waiting up to 6mths or more. Better to have a job now than none.

And also, you would save on travelling expenses since u stay near your new workplace.

In then end, up to u to decide...

Well...my bro's in the oil/gas. So he tells me about the prospect of working abroad and offshore in the oil/gas industry.

Although high paying job but have to u too have to pay a price...if got international contract, you'll b posted in an area for a few weeks to a few months. After that place kautim liao....u'll be moving on to other places.

Places like canada, india, russia, UAE and other countries. Basically, u'll be away from your family and home alot. That's the price u have to pay.

Wireline is related to any aspect of logging that employs an electrical cable to lower tools into the borehole and to transmit data. Wireline logging is distinct from measurements-while-drilling (MWD) and mud logging.

Darkangel,
Great to hear that u're the adventurous type too. I myself is a person who likes to move about...not moping around the office everyday.
Well, to become a wireline engineer...requires extensive knowledge of tools used in data gathering. It's both labor and knowledge. oh...and i get to mess with radiation stuff and explosive too. heh heh.

Btw...i have a gf of 4yrs now. Gonna be difficult for me to leave. But i'm planning on working hard for a few years then settle down with her....wf lotsa moolah! like u said...compromise.

Dreamer, wireline got a few category. cased hole, open hole, e-line and few others. basically they just gather data of the hole in the ground. try googling it.

Ppl in wireline is hands-on at the cased or open hole....meaning at the drilling area. They have to attach specific tools to lower them into then hole. They directly deal with radiation material. That's why they pay so high.

Though it's a high risk job. But pays good. Imagine what you could be paid 5yrs down the line. 9000 smackaroos is just for trainees. Highest i know being paid is RM40+K a month. nice?

Say, what kind of professional level job can earn RM120K+/year (or RM10K/month)
in Malaysia?

Self-employed or business ownership doesn't count.  Anybody?
*
Get into the oil/gas industry. Try to get offshore work. Within 5-7yrs or less if competent. You'll hit around RM20K -RM 35K.
That comes to what?....RM 240+ annualy?

Well, not all MNC pays good money. Some too are 'kiam siap'. Not every cloud has a silver lining....no? heh heh.

Oil/gas companies in malaysia don't pay quite high compare to the companies overseas. Work here...get paid according to RM inflation rates. Other countries, get paid in USD.

IT with around 4 years experience can make RM12k per month ... MNC companies.. contract based.

These are rare cases. Or plain lucky son of a gun. Consultant would be paid that high but consultants wouldn't have only 4yrs of exp.

The lesser money you have in this inflation prone economy....so goes higher the stress level.

When u reach a certain level in your life...career,age or family....u will need and want to strive harder to earn more $$.

Imagine having a happy job but don't pay enough for your housing loan, car loan, credit card, utility bills, food, entertainment.....for those with family, the responsibility to provide is the main motivation to earn more. regardless of the stress level.

also, the higher the salary means the job requires more responsibility, a chance to move up, a chance to excel, a secure future.
